A LETTER TO YOU

CHAPTER TEN

We went to sleep after long discussion about what happened in the afternoon. I was the last person to sleep as I was struggling with my conscience that had been judging me. I opened my window and gazed at the arrangement of the stars and had a thought of my father looking at me and weeping. The thought made me afraid and I went to my bed.

A LETTER TO YOU: Chapter 1 – 10

After some minutes I slept off. Around 1 am, there was a dead silence in the compound as nothing was moving, a figure entered into the house. The door were locked but how it entered I could not described. I was seeing all these maybe as a result of my being possessed.

It moved to my mothers bedroom and I heard that the door opened but who opened it I don’t know.

“No, you can’t kill me, No”. that was the sound I heard from my mothers room that made made run to her and getting there she was bleeding from her nose and mouth…

“Alisa, I have a terrible dream” she said as she the blood was flowing from her nose.

“What dream I queried with fears written all over my face, I van not afford to lose my mother again this time, what is the cause of this

” Someone forced me to eat a food in my sleep but I refused then I was being beaten on my head with a stick and made me eat the food ” she tried to narrate to me what happened.

But mummy who is the person that had brought you the food” I asked her.

“The person has the image of your elder brother’ she said.

” What, how can I do that to you, am not having any spiritual power to do that, and I was asleep all through so how can I do that ” my brother defended himself.

We were confused, none even remembered to pray against it, my mother tried to apply first aid on her bleeding nose and it stopped. Then, I didn’t know that spiritual battle was more than that, we should have prayed against attack and sickness but we didn’t , we just help her get to the bed and slept off till the next day.

Little did we know that eating in the dream has spiritual meaning, I later learnt that an arrow of sickness had been fired into her life and instead of praying she didn’t.

“Mum, but why are we experiencing all this, hope it is not the work of those fools that called themselves relatives that are attacking us spiritually because of our house and other properties.” I said to my mother.

“Never mind, nothing will happen, they are only doing their own, no power will overcome me” she assured me while she pat my back to relax.

As I was staying alone, my conscience was pricking me so hard as it reminded me how I had poisoned my fathers food which had led to the imprisonment of my second brother.

“You are a murderer, you killed your father, you can’t escape the punishment’ The voice said to me.

” No, you asked me to do it,” I replied.

“Yes, because you have become one of us” it replied me.

I held my head and was beating my chest just to prevent I from speaking to me again.

My mum after some days began to develop slight ache in her body, we applied some medication on her to relieve her.

“I think you need to see your doctor, your health is deteriorating” my elder brother advised my mum as he assist her to get up on the bed.

“It is just a little ache, it will go soon” she replied.

She managed to keep the pain to herself, maybe she didn’t want to see us weak.as a result of her problem. But her health was becoming worst everyday that she was becoming bed ridden. She could not go out by herself except through the help of my brother who lift her to go and ease herself. We contacted the doctor who examined her but his words were like a shock to me.

“With this examination and test conducted, her system and body is perfectly alright but seeing her physically she is having serious pain” the doctor said to us.

“So what could be the cause of this” I asked him.

“As you can see I can’t detect any cause of the sickness, but I suggest you go spiritual at this level because once sickness cannot be detected, it means spiritual forces is needed to combat it.” The doctor advised.

“But doctor, there should be something that had cause this” I pressed further.

“Little girl, I have been in service as a doctor for 20 years now, so I understand my job very well. You see, sickness that science can not identify are better handled spiritually, look at the test, her system says she is clean but looking at her she is down,so how can we explain that, is this not mysterious” he said to me.

I was confused, as my knowledge could not decode what the doctor was trying to say. Day by day, my mothers health became worsen. She could no longer talk anymore, she could not eat.

“Mummy, what do you think we should do, please don’t leave us” I pleaded with my mother who was just shaking her head.

“I think we should contact the pastor so that he can pray for her’ my brother suggested.

We beg her to eat her food but all she takes was just water, she was paralysed from her shoulder to the feet..everything had become numb.

I had attended to her one morning when I heard a knock on the door. I was not expecting any visitor as we made her sickness a secret, no one knew she was sick except her doctor.

” it is me, baba kekere’ he said at the door.
I was shocked as I didn’t expect him to come that day, what was he looking for in the house, or is he here to finally take the property.

“Come in Sir” I said while I was eyeing him.

“Ahn, ahn, at least you should greet me first instead of eyeing me” he said to me

“Good morning sir” I murmured to him.

“Okay, you are still a child but ripe enough to be bride” he said to me while he assessed me from.head to toe.

“Your mother, hope she is getting better” he asked me which surprised me.

“She is not sick sir” I lied to him.

He laughed and shook his head. “You are still a baby, you only carry the spirit of thousand years ‘the snake’but you don’t know how to use it.” He said to me.

How did he know.I was possessed with the snake, this man must be something else

“See, I am here to tell you that, if you want your mother to live, tell her to either marry one of us or she hand over the property to us but failure to do so, it will cost her her life” he said to me.

As he was talking, my elder brother came around and greeted him.

“I know you have respect the first time I saw you, you should not be suffering with these people” he said to him.

“You are the man of the house now, but I want you to talk to your mother, I know she is sick but don’t bother to ask how I got to know, tell her to release the property or marry me” he said beating his chest.

My elder brother was speechless looking at him as he was talking all he did was just to nod his head to his words and didn’t utter a word.

I was annoyed with him, it was like I should slap him where he was standing but something held me back.

“It seems this man is highly demonic, how come he knew about my mother’s sickness despite the fact that we made it a secret that no one knew about, how did he know that I was possessed by a thousand years snake, ” those were the thoughy thoughts that were going on in my mind. I was shaking as I was looking at the man.

“I have come here to make my stand known, so the rest is up to you” he said to us as he laughed and walked out of the house.

Ehn, I knew these was no longer an ordinary battle, it required higher force to dominate but where is the force.

(She paused to look at the window to see if the police had arrived but they were not there, maybe they did not get the description she gas about her location. She stood up from her writing position and stretched herself. The smell from the dead man was Beginning to piss her off, she went to get her spray and used it on him to reduce the pressure of the odor. She moved towards the table again and sat down to continue her writing)

You see, I have pain writing this letter, some of you might abuse me that I was just foolish, yes, I was foolish but I want you to learn from my story that is why am.writing this letter to you.

Some days later, we lost my mother, she screamed from her sleep and died. I could not cry as my eyes were dry, I wept inside but my eyes were red like blood, same applies to my brother, who was just humming.

I never knew the reason he was humming until someday after she was buried.

“But why would sickness overcome a deaconess into the church, so called christians o, is it that she …” One of the mourners said to those that cared to listen.

“Such a gentle woman, loving and kind” another man added.

None of these words made any sense to me because, when she was sick and was not seen, no one came to check on her not even our neighbor that is crying her eyes out during her burial..mtchweew. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Baba Kekere and other members of the family were present at her burial, they promised heaven and earth but all was just empty promises.

“I will be your father and mother from today, if you need anything come to.me” Mr. James who was our mother younger brother said to me and my elder brother.

” I will cater for your schooling and all other things” My mother sister said to me but all were just empty promises, she. I needed their help.they turned me down..I will still get into details on that.

One of the things that pained me a lot was that, Kelvin could not accept the fact that my mother had died, he refused to eat while he was in prison, he developed a chronic ulcer and became sick, after some days he died. It was big loss, I cried my eyes out especially when I read the letter he wrote which states, “I was innocent of the killing, I know.nothing about it, BYE.” I cried more than anyone that day. I wanted to end my life but something stopped me.

“What is the essence of living with all this problems, God where is thy face” I questioned God.

“You are the cause of get problem” a voice said to me.

“Your ways destroyed your home” it added.

I struggled with myself but it was like demons were inside of me trying to stage a fight. I became violent that I almost kill myself.

If not for the timely intervention of my brother, I would have been dead.

As if that was not enough, the following week, Baba kekere and his fellows came again.

“We are here to get the house and share the other property” he said.

“What” I exclaimed.

“You can stay with me if you like, but this house is not yours” he replied.

I was shocked….
