Chapter 12
Prince Derrick finally made it to school before sunset. He entered he and Stanley’s room but didn’t see Stanley
“Where is he now?”He muttered and stepped out looking for him
He was still walking through the halls when Mitchell stopped him
“Jaden can I talk to you?”She pleaded innocently
“I can’t talk now Mitchell”He replied trying to leave but she stopped him
“Please just five minutes”
He sighed
“Fine. Five minutes and nothing more”
“Thanks”
She took him to the colleges’ hang out spot cause she knew Elena was there. Her plan was to make Elena jealous by seeing her with Jaden.
Jaden sat down with her oblivious of what she was up to. He didn’t even notice that Elena,Kira and Stanley were behind them.
“What is it that you want to talk about? Your time starts now”
“I just want to make a request” She started
“What request?” Jaden asked
“Can we be friends? Casual friends?”
“Where are you driving at Mitchell? I don’t get your silly question”
“I want us to be friends. No strings attached”
“What were we before now?”Jaden asked
“Enemies”She replied
“What? How?”
“You never look at me or talk to me. Ever since Elena came,I’ve become nothing to you”She started shedding crocodile tears
“It’s not what you think Mitchell”Jaden said
“It’s what I think Jaden. It’s not fair”
When she saw that Elena had faced them,she held Jaden’s shirt and puts her head on his chest sobbing. Jaden tried pushing her away but she refused to let go.
“Calm down”Jaden said and ruffled his hair
This was all his fault. He shouldn’t have agreed to follow her in the first place. Then he wouldn’t have been witnessing her drama right now.
He finally pulled her away from his chest
“Hey put yourself together. We can be friends okay?”He said and she nodded
When he stood up to leave,she hugged him not wanting to let go. Elena,Kira and Stanley came to them
“What’s wrong with almighty Mitchell?”Elena asked sarcastically
“I really don’t know. She is being clingy”Jaden replied in a frustrated tone
Mitchell observed Elena to see if Elena was jealous but couldn’t cause Elena looked normal. Even her posture was okay. No sign of jealousy or anger. She became disappointed and pulled from the hug
“Are you fine now?”Kira asked mockingly
“She looks fine to me”Stanley said
“I’ll take my leave now”She left
Elena just shook her head and smiled. Who does she think she is,trying to make a princess jealous?
“So where have you been mister”Elena asked Jaden
Jaden wasn’t good at lying
“I…I was um…I went…em..I”He stuttered
Stanley and Kira burst into laughter
“Seriously,just one question and you’ve turned into a stammerer”Elena laughed
He smiled
“Aren’t you going to tell me?”She asked
“I went to see…my…grandma yes I went to see my grandma”He said hoping she’ll buy it
“You’re lying”She said
“How did you know?”Stanley asked
“His posture smelt tension and nervousness”Elena laughed
“Wow”Stanley exclaimed
“Fine. I went to meet my dad”Jaden said
“That’s more like it. Now you’re telling the truth”She said
“Let’s go guys. It’s getting late”Kira said
“Yeah you’re right”Stanley said and they separated to their rooms.

JADEN AND STANLEY’S ROOM
Stanley plopped down on the sofa while Jaden sat on the bed
“So what did the king say?”Stanley asked
“He insisted I bring the lady I want to marry before the end of this month”Jaden ruffled his hair
“Take Elena then. She’s perfect”
“Yeah but I don’t think she loves me”
“I know she loves you Jaden. Do you see her associate with any other guy in this college?”Stanley asked
“She talks with Chris”Jaden answered
“Oh please…Stanley waved it off…she doesn’t like Chris,She likes you”
“You really think so?”
“I know so. And you better look for ways of keeping her. Show her through your actions that you feel the same too. Make her feel special then slowly and nicely,invite her to meet your father”
“But what if she finds out I’m Prince Derrick and gets angry that I lied to her?”Jaden was worried
“Then explain your reasons to her”
“Okay thanks dude”
“Anytime”Stanley smiled

ELENA AND KIRA’S ROOM
“What’s the next step?”Kira ask Elena and sat beside her on the bed
“I really don’t know Kira. I’ve never been this confused in my life”Elena sighed
“You love him,don’t you?”
“Yes I do but I’m scared”
“Scared of what my Princess?”
“What if he doesn’t love me back?”
“I’m sure he loves you. Have you seen the way he stares at you?”
“Really?”
“Yes. He can’t get his eyes off you. Believe me,he loves you”
“But what if after everything,he finds out I’m Princess Helen then gets angry?”
“Then you explain your reasons to him. He’ll understand”
“You really think so?”
“I know so my Princess”
“Thank you Kira”
“It’s my greatest pleasure”

MONDAY AFTERNOON…
The sun shone bright and the halls were flooded with students going up and down in their swimming trunks. The Physical Education teacher,Ms Tasha just announced that there was gonna be swimming class that afternoon and Elena’s class were the first batch.
Elena was very nervous and didn’t know what to do. She paced to and fro in her room looking for an excuse to give.
“Calm down Elena”Kira patted her shoulder
“I’m nervous and I’m scared. I can’t swim,I can’t go there”Elena said
“I know but let’s think of something okay?”
“I’m too scared to think of anything”
“Alright what if we pretend that you’re sick and can’t go into the pool?”Kira suggested
“Then they will take me to the school clinic for check up and discover nothing is wrong with me”Elena said
“Yeah that’s right. How about we follow them to the pool and you won’t go near it? You’ll stay amongst those that have done theirs”
“What if she calls my name?”
“Don’t worry about that. I’ll help you”
“Thanks alot Kira”Elena smiled
Just then,they heard a knock on the door
Elena went to open it and saw Mitchell
“Mitchell? What are you doing here?”Elena asked
“Elena can I please talk to you? Alone?”Mitchell asked innocently and Elena wondered what she was up to this time
“Whatever for?”She asked
“Just come with me Elena. I have a lot to make up for”
Elena saw tears in her eyes and felt for her
“Okay then. Where are we meeting?”
“We’ll meet by the pool so that after our discussion,the swimming class may commence”
When Elena heard that it was at the pool,she shuddered but agreed cause she didn’t want Mitchell to see her weakness
“Okay let’s go. Kira,I’ll be at the pool”She said
“Hope you’ll be fine?”Kira asked
“Yes”
“Okay be careful”Kira said
She smiled nervously and followed Mitchell to the pool. Unlike others,she wore jeans and top but Mitchell wore leggings and a crop top.
After they got to the pool,Elena looked at the water and fear gripped her which Mitchell didn’t fail to notice. She smiled mischievously and went on with her acting
“Elena”She called
“Yes?”
“I want to apologize for the way I’ve been treating you since you resumed here. I’m really sorry”
Elena was shocked
“You’re apologizing?”
“Yes. It was foolish of me. I was just jealous of you. You had everything and even got Jaden’s attention. I’m sincerely sorry”She starts crying
“It’s okay please don’t cry. I forgive you”Elena wanted to get all these over with and leave the pool. The view is making her legs tremble
“Really? You forgive me?”She sniffles
“Yes Mitchell”She smiled
“Thank you,Thank you. You don’t know how relieved I am”
“You’re welcome”
“Can I hug you?”Mitchell asked
“Sure”Elena spread her hands and Mitchell hugged her
In the process of hugging,Mitchell pretended to slip and fell into the pool dragging Elena in with her. Both of them splashed into the pool and Mitchell swum out while Elena struggled to get out.
Mitchell sat up looking at her in the water and smiled.
“She will suffer before I call for help”She muttered
Elena was still in the water as the horror hit her. She became weak as many thoughts ran through her mind. The fear was too much that she had no strength to keep pushing.
She slowly closed her eyes and started drowning
