A TALE OF TWO MERMAIDS

Chapter 2
The school bell rang and Liliana smiled and walked out alone
“hey, Liliana” Kimberly said as she ran up to meet her outside the school building
“hey” Liliana hailed back
“where do you live?” she asked her
“uhm, at… Whoa my driver’s here” she said and pointed to a car
“OMG, is that your car? And you even have a driver?” Molly said behind Liliana
“are you a fairy? How did you get here so fast?” Liliana asked and they laughed
“why don’t you drop us off?” Molly asked
“sure, I can do that” she replied and they walked to the car
“hey Liliana, remember to book that restaurant” a boy yelled behind them
They looked back
“booked it” Liliana yelled back and the boy shouted
“awesome… See you tomorrow”
The girls laughed and entered the car
“this is so classy. Why don’t you drive yourself?” Molly asked
“no, my mom won’t let me yet. Because we’re still new here” she replied
“jeez, Liliana you’re getting popular in the group chat. The guys are all talking about you. On account of the restaurant you booked” Kimberly said and covered her mouth
“let me see that” Liliana said and collected the phone
She glanced through the chats and smiled
She was happy
“you guys have a group chat? Awesome” she said
“can we please be your best friends? We wanna be popular too” Molly said and Liliana chuckled
“plea…..sse” Kimberly squealed
“okay… Okay… You guys are” she said and they hugged her
“thank you” they both said
Liliana was in her room dancing her dressing her puppy up
“nah, I think it’s better that you look pink” she said and twirled her fingers to the dog
His fur turned to pink
“hmm, no you look like a girl” she said and turned it back to white
She looked around her room
She snapped her fingers and everything turned black
Then slowly flowers began to bud out and she brought back the lights
Her door opened
“wow” her mother exclaimed
“like my natural room” she said and laughed
“I love it. But I hope bugs don’t crawl out” her mother said and sat down on the bed that now looks like a bushy flower bed
Her room was just like a garden
The ceiling turned to clouds
The floor became carpet grasses
The walls were like flower fences
Everything in the room turned into something in the garden
Her wardrobe turned into a water fall
“so you must be happy for all of this to happen. Because your powers run out of control when you’re angry” her mother said and started to braid her hair
“yes, I’m so happy mum” she replied
“I guess school was fun, right Kara?”
“it was awesome. Though I became popular”
“so soon?” her mother asked
“yeah, they like me” she said and smiled
“it’s because you’re unique” her mother stated and kissed her cheek
Liliana didn’t tell her mother about Brianna because she wouldn’t like that at all
She’ll change her school because the last time she fought with a fellow student, her powers popped out uncontrollably because she was very angry
Fortunately, no one believed the girl when she said that Brianna was a witch cause they was no proof
“Kara” her mother called out
“how do you like your powers?” her mother added
“I love it, it makes me different and unique” she stated
“you’re a mermaid” her mother said
“what?”
Her mother sighed
“I’m sorry I told you that the powers were just ordinarily yours. The truth is, the power came has a source” her mother said
Her room immediately turned back to normal
“I don’t get it. Please explain more” Liliana said
“I’m not your biological mother”
“whaaat” she yelled out
“calm down. I’ll explain everything” she said, knowing that Liliana was not believing her yet
“Mr Olaf, he’s not your dad. That’s why I divorce him because I didn’t want him to know about your powers. I couldn’t give birth to a baby for him. He began to treat me like trash. I felt bad and one night, I went to cry beside the ocean. That was when I saw your brother.”

“so, you’re saying that I have a twin?” Brianna asked her mother
Coincidentally, the two girls were being told the source of their power at the same time
“yes, her name is Kara” Melissa said
“but why did you separate us?” Brianna asked
“according to your brother Gavin, the queen’s witch laid a curse on every twin that is to be born. So for that curse not to work, you had to be separated” Melissa replied
“then tell me about the other lady that took my sister”
“I can’t. For now. But I’ll tell you everything you need to know about yourself when you’re eighteen years”
“whaaat? Eighteen years. Mom, I’m fourteen” Brianna said
“you’ll be fifteen in three months Kira” Melissa said and Brianna crossed her arms
She was desperate to know her sister

“but, mom how can I become a mermaid again?” Liliana asked
“I really don’t know. Your brother did not say anything about it. He just told us to separate the twins” Gwendolyn said
“I want to see Kira” Liliana said
“when the time comes, you’ll see her” Gwen said and packed her hair
“and when is that time?”
“when you become eighteen years” her mother said and stood up
Liliana sighed and crossed her arms
Her mother left
“great.. Just great… I have a twin, I’m a mermaid, I have a sassy mermaid brother, I come from a place where the wicked queen has an evil witch. And mom refused to tell me the curse she laid.” Liliana blurted out and stood up
She groaned and stumped her feet on the floor
The floor immediately broke but she didn’t notice
Brianna walked into the classroom and sat down
She was quite early
She just felt like being the first student in school
She brought out her phone and decided to listen to music
The door to the class storage room opened and Liliana came out
Their eyes met
“what are you doing here?” Brianna asked
“excuse me lady, this is my school” Liliana replied
“what were you doing there? Did you sleep in the storage room?” Brianna asked
“hahah, storage room? Do I look like I’m homeless?” Liliana said and got out fully
Brianna frowned and stood up to leave the class
“wait, is that my bracelet?” Lili asked looking at Bria’s wrist
“does it look like yours? Can you even afford to buy this?” she replied, thinking Lili wasn’t as rich as she was
“I should be asking you that. You stole this bracelet from my bag”
“what? Stole? How would I steal something from an invisible bag?” Brianna said sarcastically
Liliana began to get angry
She could feel her powers rising
She stormed out of the class immediately and ran into the rest room
She screamed and the mirror broke
She stared at it and sighed
Then she made it go back to normal again
Brianna walked out of the class and met with Iris
“hi girly” Iris hailed and Brianna smiled
“hi Iris” she said
“I have a proposal for you” she stated
“really, what’s that?” Brianna asked
“I want you to join the cheer leading team” Iris said
“uhhh, cheer leading team. I don’t want to” she replied
“why, it would be awesome to have you in. Please. And you could actually be the cheer leader since the previous one has left high school” Iris pleaded
“I’ll just think about it” Brianna replied and they began to walk together
Students were already walking into the building
“hey girls” Winnie said as she met with them in the hallway
“hi Winnie”
“hey girly” Iris said
“why do you call every girl, girly?” Brianna asked
“my way of doing things” Iris replied and they laughed.
As they walked to the locker room, someone called Brianna from the back
Coincidentally, Liliana and her friends were also in the locker room
Liliana thought she heard her name so she looked back
“yes” the two girls said
They looked at each other
“excuse me, it was me he called” Brianna said
“no, I heard my name” Liliana said
“no, he called Brianna not Liliana” Iris said, siding Brianna
“well, don’t blame her. They both end in Anna” Kimberly said, siding Liliana
“now that shouldn’t cause a fight.” Zeus said, he was the one that called Brianna
Brianna sighed and walked to Zeus
“let’s just leave here” she said and walked out
Iris and Winnie followed her out including Zeus who was alone
“she’s friends with Zeus?” Molly said looking angry
“I hope he doesn’t ask her out” Kimberly said
“Molly’s been having a huge crush on him, right from junior school” Jade stated
“what’s so special about him?” Liliana asked with crossed arms
“he’s the valedictorian of the school. The captain of the rugby team and the most popular boy in school” Kimberly replied
“and if Brianna becomes his girlfriend. Two things are involved” Molly added
“it will make Brianna really popular and it will break Molly’s heart” Jade stated
“well, I really don’t care. He’s not the most handsome boy in America, is he?” she said sarcastically and opened her locker
She felt really bad and somehow jealous when she imagined Brianna being more popular than her
Scalia
Mean looking stonefishes swam around in twos or threes
Each citizen of Scalia stayed out of the path of the queen’s stonefishes
“hey, you. Come here” a guard said to one of the mermaids that mistakenly swam close to the queen’s statue
“I’m sorry. I was in a hurry. I didn’t know I was already to close to the statue. Please” she pleaded as the stonefishes surrounded her
Gavin shook his head sadly as he saw the mermaid crying
He minded his business and swam Home to his sick mother
“mother, I’m home” he said as he entered inside
They was no sight of his mother
“mother… Mother” he said as he swam round the house
“to the palace, now!” a guard ordered him as he swam outside
He knew that he was in trouble
He obediently followed the guard to the queen’s palace
It was very gloomy and dark
The presence of her witch caused it
He looked at the statues on the walls of the palace
Those were the unfortunate merfolks that were turned to stone
The whole if Scalia was so empty unlike the way it was back then
Because the queen was slowly killing all the citizens and turning them into stones
“to the throne room” the guard ordered
He became nervous
Wondering what exactly he did that he had to meet the queen
He swam in and bowed before the wicked mermaid
She was sitting on a gigantic throne
Her crown was bronze and really big
Her tail was both red and blue
And beside her was a throne for her son
But he wasn’t there
Below her tail was a seat for Zaire, her witch
“your mother gave birth to twins” the queen said immediately he bowed to her
“and I killed them” she said and laughed evilly
Gavin looked up and saw his mother swimming slowly towards him
He quickly swam to her and held her
“what happened mother?” he asked
“they were twins. And she killed them” his mother whispered
The queen laughed again
“now, leave” she ordered and he hurriedly swam out with her
His mother was actually expecting another child
But unfortunately it was twins again, and Queen Kintora killed them
When they got out of the palace
His mother whispered to him
“we have to stop Kintora. I need to see Kira and Kara”
“but, mother. I don’t think they’re eighteen yet. And I don’t even know where they are” Gavin replied
“don’t worry, I’ve found the antidote to her curse. All we need to do now is find them” his mother replied and he sighed and carried her to their house
Meanwhile back at the palace, Zaire using her evil machineries sensed that it was the second time that Gavin’s mother gave birth to twins
She told the queen
“what!!!!” the queen yelled, being very enraged
“did you kill any of her children apart from these ones?” Zaire asked
“no I didn’t, so they must still be alive. We have to find them no matter what and kill them” Kintora said and Zaire smiled as she brought out her evil wand, ready to track them.
