Chapter 5

Brianna
“it’s a good thing the school was fixed up” Zeus stated and I swallowed a lump
“yeah” I said
“or we’ll be having classes in ice” he said with a sense of humor and I laughed
“Brianna, can we have dinner together tonight?” he asked
“uhhh, I don’t know” I said, I was supposed to be thought how to make fire underwater today
I don’t want to miss it
And I really wanna hang out with Zeus
“you’ll be busy?” he asked
“yeah” I replied sadly
“okay, I’ll see you some other time then. So we can hang out” he said and left
I sighed and hugged my books
“I like you” I mumbled
“Brianna” Iris said as she got closer to me
“yeah, what’s up” I said
“so you have a crush on Zeus” she said and I smiled
“totally” I replied
“great, because he likes you too” she stated
“but it’s not really love. Just attracted to me” I said
Winnie ran to us from one of the classes
“guys there’s a fire” she yelled and immediately rang the fire alarm
Everyone began to panic
They began to run outside the school
Teachers came out and told everyone to leave
I looked around
No sign of Liliana
“let’s go Brianna, quick” Iris said and pulled me
“no, where’s Liliana?” I asked
“I’m sure she’s outside already” Winnie yelled and we ran out
The fire department arrived and the fire fighters rushed in and extinguished the fire
I was still searching for Liliana
I saw Kimberly and walked to her
“uhm, hi. Where’s Liliana?” I asked, really worried
“I don’t know. I didn’t see her” she replied
“did she come out because of the fire?” I asked
“I really don’t know. I’m also worried” she replied
“let’s report about a missing student” Jade said
“no, wait. I’ll be right back” I said and hurried away
She must be somewhere
Maybe she caused the fire
I ran to the back of the school and saw a back pack that fell out of the window
I looked up at the open window
Maybe I should go in
I looked around
No one was in sight
I quickly caused a big strong vine to hang from the window
I quickly used it as an aid and climbed up the wall
I entered through the window and walked to the hallway
“hello, anybody here” I yelled out
“over here” a voice said and I ran to the direction
“Liliana” I yelled out
“yes, come in here” she replied
I opened a door and she was trying to help someone up
“Brianna” she called out
I rushed to her and helped her hold the boy up
“what are you doing here?” I asked
“I had to save him” she replied
I looked at the unconscious boy
He’s cute
Wait
I shouldn’t be talking about that
“quick let’s go” I said and we carried him out
We met the firefighters in the hallway and they helped us outside since the fire was already out

Liliana
Leo was stuck upstairs
I felt it and went there
I don’t know who started the fire or how it started but Leo was stuck in it
I had to use my powers to stop the fire from getting to me
I came to a room and saw that he had gone unconscious and laid in a smoky room
I quickly quenched the surrounding fire and took him up to a room where the fire hasn’t reached
I laid him down and went to find a window, I threw his bag down and came back to him
That was when I heard Brianna’s voice
I was happy that help came because Leo is really weighty
Am still wondering what caused the fire

Keisha
“guys, I can’t last one more day without water” I said to Kira and Kara
“me too, but I’m enjoying the human world though” Gavin said and placed his legs on the table
“what are we going to do then?” Kira asked
“she has to return” Kara said
“but not without you too” I stated
“you girls should try and follow her. At least, know what the ocean looks like” Melissa said
“but, queen Kintora. She’s gonna kill us if she finds us out” Kara said
“if I was able to change your hair and your face, don’t you think mother can change your whole body?” Gavin asked
“but we’re not fighting her yet right?” Kira asked
”not yet, but we will, when you’re ready” I said and they sighed
“great” Kira exclaimed

Brianna
“I guess this is going to be fun” Liliana stated
“I’m going to bed, we’ll leave tomorrow morning” mother said and left with Gavin
“so we’re gonna skip school” I said
“well, it’s worth skipping” she replied
“Brianna, someone is here to see you” my mom said
“who?” I asked and Zeus walked into the room
“Zeus” I called out
“hi girls” he hailed and I smiled
“what are you doing here?” I asked walking to him
“I came to see you” he replied
“uhm, I’ll excuse you both” Liliana said and left
“you look sad, what’s wrong?” I asked him
“I… I… I have to go” he stammered
“go? Where?” I asked
“away” he replied
“you’re leaving New York?” I asked
”yes, I have to leave this place” he replied and looked away
I placed my hand on his cheek and turned his face to look at me
“please tell me what I need to know” I said
“I just have to leave. I’m.. I’m an orphan and I live with a priest. But, I need to go and find my own way now. I couldn’t leave without saying goodbye to you” he said with a very sad face
“where will you go?” I asked
“I don’t know. But it’s definitely not New York” he replied
“do you have money?” I asked and he nodded
“I’m sure it won’t be enough. You need more” I said and went to my safe.
I brought out enough money and gave him
He stared at it and then looked at me
“thanks Brianna” he stated
“I’ll miss you” I mumbled
He looked at me and pulled me into a hug
I hugged him back and we stayed that way for about five minutes
“I.. I really like you” he said when we disengaged
“you.. You do?” I asked
“I really feel something for you. I know you do too, I wish we could be there for each other but I guess fate has a different say” he stated and stared at my lips
“I… I…” I stammered, he pulled me closer and our faces were just few inches apart
He stared into my eyes and slowly lowered his lips on mine
He lingered for seconds before he began to nibble on them
He held my waist and my hands moved up to his shoulders
He began to suck on my lips and our tongues soon intertwined
We kissed for about ten minutes before we disengaged
“I love you” he said and kissed my neck
I wanted to reply but he held my hand and smiled
“you should see me off” he said and pulled me along
We went down the stairs and into the bright street
He stopped a taxi and turned to me
“I’ll see you again. Call this number whenever you miss me” he said and gave me a paper
He pecked my lips and entered the car
“bye” I said and waved at him
He waved back and the car zoomed off
I stood watching it before I went back inside

Liliana
I’ve been waiting for Zeus and Brianna to come out
I even went to the door to eavesdrop after waiting for what seemed like eternity
I know those two are in love but I hope they’re not doing anything silly in there
“what are you doing?” Brianna said behind me
I was placing my ear on a glass cup and the cup was against the door
It would enable me to hear what’s been said inside the room
So when Brianna caught me in that position, you can tag it as being caught red-handed
“I thought you were inside” I said and straightened up
“where is Zeus? Why do you look sad?” I asked and she sighed
“he left” she answered
“okay, I guess he missed you so much he came to say hi to you” I said
“no, he came to say goodbye” she stated and my face puzzled up
“goodbye?” I asked
“he’s leaving New York for good and not coming back” she said
“what? Why?” I asked
“I don’t know Liliana. I don’t know” she said and hugged me
I hugged her back
“but he kissed me before going. He told me he really likes me too” she said
“don’t worry. You’ll see him again” I said and opened the door to her room then entered inside with her

Keisha
“are you two ready?” I asked them
“yeah, I couldn’t pack up anything because I figured out I won’t be needing them” Kira said and twirled her hair
“yeah, me too” Kara said
These two are really getting along
And they’re not fighting as expected
That’s something new
“can we go now. I really need to feel water on my skin” Gavin said
“wait, haven’t you been taking your bath or a shower?” Kara asked
“what’s a bath?” he asked and they shifted back
“ewwww” they squealed and squeezed their faces
I laughed
“let’s go” Melissa said as she carried her car keys
Gwendolyn also joined us
We drove to the beach and got down
“this is kinda awkward and weird” Kira stated
“but kinda fun” Kara said
We walked to a desolate place
“I’m nervous” Kira said
“I’m not” Kara said
“don’t worry Brianna, you’ll be fine” Melissa said and hugged her
Gwendolyn hugged Liliana
I stood watching them happily
I hope they love me this way
“let’s leave already” Gavin said and walked into the water
“bye mom” they both said and followed Gavin
“thanks for taking care of them. I’ll also take care of them while they’re away” I said and bowed
They smiled and hugged me
“we know” Melissa said
I smiled
I walked into the water where the two girls were standing
“where is Gavin?” I asked
“in the water” they both replied
Kira bent down and sprinkled water on Kara
“oh my gosh, you joke with the wrong person” Kara stated and poured water on her
Their moms stood laughing as they were water fighting
I used my powers and pushed them into the water
They fell with a thud and water poured on me
I waved at the two women and then walked into the water
We began to swim like normal people but we swam farther into the water
The waves were getting bigger and the water was getting deeper
“dive in” I said and they took in air and dived in
I laughed
“you can breathe underwater” I said
We got down and I already transformed
So did they
“OMG, OMG . I can breathe” Kira said
“I can talk” Kara yelled
Their tales were identical
And their faces too
Even their hair
“you both are now identical” I said and they looked at each other and screamed
They swam round each other giggling
“okay, time to go” Gavin said out of nowhere
I sighed
“when we get closer to Scalia, I’ll have to change your identity. Different face, hair and tail” I said
“okay” they replied and held hands then we swam towards the portal
A place where we can just swim through and come out in Scalia or any other kingdom magically
We swam deeper with the two girls giggling and pointing at different things
Whenever a shark passed by, or any weird fish, they’ll hide fearfully then laugh when it passes by
It was fun watching them
I didn’t see them grow
But I’m glad they’re alive

Brianna
I love underwater so much
It’s so chilling
And I love my tail and hair and new face
My face didn’t change totally but Liliana and I are very similar now
Our tails are green and sparkling
So cute
We got to the portal and mother swam in first, then I and Liliana, followed by Gavin
Immediately we entered, we looked different
No longer identical
And the tails too are different
I wowed at the surroundings
We swam to the city and Liliana and I stared in awe
Mermaids and mermen
But they were all looking gloomy
Soon we saw mean looking guards swimming around
Then stonefishes
Is this how Queen Kintora rules?
“this place was once filled with people that were happy. But now, it’s becoming desolate” mother said and I held her hand when two guards glared at me
“Kara, stay with Gavin. They shouldn’t see us together” I said and she swam to Gavin
They went to a different direction
“hey you, why is your hair like that. Follow me now” a guard barked at me
“please, she’s from the neighbouring kingdom. She doesn’t know our rules” mother intervened for me
I held her hand tight
I quickly loosened my pony tail and bowed
He glared at us then swam away
“stay very close to me. And be careful” mother said
“okay mother” I said and her face lit up
She’s happy because this is the first I’m calling her mother out load
I held her hand as we swam towards the heart of the city
The guards announced that everyone should go to the castle
We turned and headed for the castle
We assembled, waiting for the Queen.
She came out
Eww
Scary
And the scary witch that placed the curse.
Evil
Then they announced that the prince was coming up
“he’s pretty handsome” mother said and I smiled
I hope he is.
