CHAPTER 42
“It’s you who didn’t stick to her promise. We both said it will be for a while but you use the chance that I wasn’t around to steal my life” Develene yelled at her.
“It is you who failed me first. It wasn’t up to a week after I came here pretending to be you that you took off not caring about my life. You quit my job and left first and even knowing that I waited, I waited for you to come back but you never did” Marie told.
“That was because I got into an accident” Develene explained.
“Save me that sordid detail Develene. I know you and am sure that during the week you left, you could have made it back to New Jersey but instead you went off to do your thing” Marie told her.
“Yes! I went off with a Greek lover and I regret every minute of it. If someone had told me that I would be losing a lot I would never have sent you in my place”
“But you did and am glad that I came cause I would never have met the love of my life if I hadn’t come here. I had an accident too and I lost my memory and during those times that I couldn’t remember I kept blaming myself for taking your place but remembering it all made me realise that I work hard for it”
“You work hard for stealing my life?” Develene asked.
“Yes. Thanks to you I lost my life back home, I had nothing to go back to something which you caused and also I married Romeo just to protect your parents something you should have done and my friends and people you see around me was earned by my effort and not because I stole your name.
If you’ve been to Romeo company you would have heard that they address me as Marie and not as Develene and so I didn’t steal your life, you chose to throw a good life away Develene. So suck that up and give in that you lost what should have been yours” Marie said fiercely.
“I….I ”
“We won’t be pressing charge against you cause I believe that your parents wouldn’t want to see you spend the rest of your life in jail. So Develene try to get on with your life for yourself and for your parents”Marie said.
Develene reply was to carry her stuff and turn to leave.
“Are you leaving without saying a thing?” Marie asked and that stopped Develene.
“You’ve said it all. There’s nothing left for me to say” Develene replied before walking out of the room.
Marie was still smiling when she turned to see Romeo standing by the door way starring at her.
“I told you to give us some privacy” she said still smiling at him.
“I tried to but your words made me come out again. That was a brave thing to say but do you think Develene would take heed of it?” Romeo asked as he walk towards her to pull her into his arms.
“She has to for her parents sake” Marie said.
“What about Willow? Has he been arrested?” Marie asked.
“He hasn’t. The police are still searching for him” Romeo replied.
“Don’t you feel bad about his betrayal? ” Marie asked.
“I do. I trusted Willow and this act of his only proved to me that I shouldn’t have” Romeo said and she hugged him knowing Willow betrayal hurt him.
“Could the reason why Willow kidnap you be because he is interested in you?” Romeo asked and she nodded also telling him the things he said leaving the part of the ab.ortion.
“That slimy bstard!” Romeo said fiercely.
“He needs help cause I think he is sick in the head” Marie told him.
“The only help he will ever get is one in jail” Romeo muttered which got Marie laughing.
“I hope he gets arrested soon” she voiced out her worry.
“He will my love and you can be rest assured that you and little junior inside of you will be saved” Romeo said and immediately she pulled away from him.
“How do you know that?” She asked.
“Develene told me and it was because I found out about the child that I didn’t st.rangle her to de.ath” He said.
“I wanted to tell you about it that day but I…..”
“Shhhh….am glad that you and my child are both save and also the thought of being a father got me feeling excited” he said and that got Marie smiling.
“Me too” she muttered in return before he kss her on the lips.

~WILLOW HIDE OUT~
“Boss I think it’s best that you leave” One of Willow men who got away before the police arrive said to him.
“I can’t leave not when my Marie is still out there”Willow replied.
“Must you really go far for this lady?”
“Of course I must. Marie is my destiny and no one will take her from me. You shouldn’t be telling me to leave instead you should be preparing on how to get rid of Romeo” Willow answered bitting his nails nervously.
“But he has gotten a new set of guards, it would be hard to do that” his men said.
“It won’t. Nothing is impossible and so get on with that plan. With Romeo gone I can have Marie to myself” He replied.
