CHAPTER 37
~A WEEK AGO~ HOSPITAL
Develene opened her eyes to find herself in an unfamiliar room. The last thing she remembered was getting into an accident.
“My baby” Hannah Taylor said as she quickly came to her bedside.
“Mom” Develene called.
“I thought you left everything and everyone behind, I should have known that you wouldn’t be capable of doing such a thing. I should have known that something like an accident had prevented you from coming back” Hannah said with tears in her eyes.
On hearing those words Develene mind drifted off to the months ago and the things that happened.
“Help me sir up Mom” she said and immediately her mom complied.
“What happened mom?” Develene asked.
“A lot has happened since you….” Her mom stopped when a student doctor walked in.
“You are awake. I would do a quick check up and….”
“Can’t you see that am having a conversation with my mom?” Develene asked rudely.
“I do but I need to do my job as a doctor” he said.
“Just get lost! I will call for you when it’s time ” Develene said.
“But…..”
“I think it’s best that you leave. You see my baby always have her way in everything” Hannah chip in and the doctor nodded before leaving.
“I don’t know why I got you confused with that stupid Marie. I should have known that my daughter isn’t that docile” Hannah said.
“Speaking of Marie tell me exactly what happened” Develene asked and her mother filled her in on it.
“So she is married to Romeo and has been living off my identity?” Develene asked in anger.
“She had no choice cause back then Romeo was adamant about it afterall you both fooled him and everyone too and she also got married to him to stop him from taking the money we owe him and thanks to that she’s living the life of a rich lady ” Hannah said with a sigh.
“This wouldn’t have happened if you had just come back home yourself. Tell me why you chose to send that look alike of yours instead of coming yourself”
Develene didn’t want to tell her mother the real reason but she had no choice.
“Back then you were infactuated with a guy and so you sent her here to help dissuade Romeo but then you find out that the jerk is just after your money and so when you decide to return home, you had the accident” her mother summarised her story which was not all a lie.
She had been working in Marie shop and doing her own part when she met John, a very handsome Greek guy who won her heart on the first day.
They began going out frequently and when she found out that he was leaving for Greece, she decided to leave everything including playing her role as Marie to follow John.
But she soon realised that John was a liar and a cheat and when she returned to New Jersey and was heading home, she got into the accident.
“So now that we know that it wasn’t intentional on your part to stay away, it’s best that we tell Romeo about your return and have you stay with him” Hannah said earning her attention.
“That would be too fast, why don’t we check up on them both and after that I will decide” Develene said.
A few days later she was discharged and instead of going home, they went straight to Romeo office.
Develene sat in the car looking at the company which belong to Romeo and would have belonged to her if she had come back early to marry him and she was still having a look when she saw Romeo walk out of the building.
She couldn’t believe that she turned down this handsome guy and made Marie take her place, she was still looking at him Lustfully when Marie got out of the company.
Develene watched how the both of them smiled at each other and as Romeo kssed her before they both walk off.
Is that love she saw in their eyes, they couldn’t possibly be in love with each other? She thought as she clenched her hands in anger.
Not only did she steal her identity she also stole the man which should have been hers.
The next thing she did was to learn how to act and be like Marie and with the help of the man that helped her during the time of her accident, they planned on how to kidnap Marie while she pretends to be her.
