Minutes later the cops arrived and found the crowd and media men around, they saw Pius sitting somewhere and a cop approached him.
“You arrived here already? He asked and Pius slowly nodded.
“I’m sorry for your loss, the cop said and they saw Cynthia carried into a van.
“Please get up from the ground, you don’t look good sitting here, the cop said and helped him on his feet.
“Are they taking her to the mor.tuary? Pius asked.
“Yes, are you coming with us? The cop asked.
“I’ll just follow you behind, Pius replied and drove behind them…….

After depositing her body in the mor.tuary, the cops then introduced the cab man to Pius,
“I’m so sorry for your loss, but I hope the little girl is safe? The cab man asked.
“Yes, she’s still in the hospital, Pius replied and faced him well.
“What exactly happened that night? Pius asked.
“The late lady paid me on a chatter that evening, she loaded her bags and few things in the boot and the back of my taxi, while she sat with her daughter beside me.
On the way she noticed someone was following us and she told me about it. I increased the speed which he did too and drove beside us and began hitting the side of my taxi.
Then he brought out a gvn and I was so scared because I’m not yet ready to die, I had to park the car immediately which he came out from his car and took them away from my taxi and drove off, that’s it, he narrated.
“You can recognize him very well right? A cop asked him.
“Yes very well, especially when he pointed the gun at me, I can’t forget that face I even dreamt about him, he replied and Pius was quiet.
“It seems you know something, will you continue to keep quiet even at this point? A cop asked Pius and he looked at them.
“What do you think I know? Pius asked.
“The mur.derer, please don’t make things too difficult for us if you really want the mur.derer to be caught, you have to tell us everything you know, a cop sternly said and Pius heaved and sat down.
“Truth is, I think I know the man who took them away, Pius replied.
“And who is he? A cop asked.
“My in law, he’s a cop too, Pius replied and they smiled looking at him.
“Are you kidding? No cop will do such thing, a cop said.
“Is that so? I thought you said I should tell you all I know, are you now trying to hide your own? Pius angrily said.
“What if it turns out false, that’s a big problem and by the way what’s his name? They asked.
“Akello, Akello Brown, Pius replied and the cops looked at themselves weak.
“That’s a big man, and this is a big allegation, a cop said.
“now you see why i was quiet, Pius said and faced the other way.
“That man who took them away, is he fair skinned with a high hair cut? A cop asked the cab man..
“Yes yes, he replied and the cops nodded.
“Thank you, please go take care of your daughter, the cop said to Pius and he turned to leave.
“Will you get her properties now? A cop asked again and Pius stopped.
“Can I have them? He asked and they helped in offloading it to his car.
Pius drove off to the hospital and saw Catherine sitting down.
“Where is mommy? Did you get the bad man? Catherine quickly asked and Pius sat beside her saying nothing.
“How are you now? He asked touching her.
“What happened? Where is mommy? She asked.
“Mommy is fine, she’s with the police so that the bad man will be arrested, if not he can come back again, Pius replied.
“Yesssss, thank you, Catherine happily said and Pius forced a smile and a nurse walked in.
“Oh she’s sitting already, the nurse said.
“Yes, is she strong now to be discharged? He asked.
“Yes yes, Catherine replied and the nurse smiled.
“Yes she is, the nurse said.
“Okay please, get on with it, baby are you hungry? he asked.
“I’ve eaten already, Catherine replied.
“Oh sorry I was too busy to ask, sorry about that,he said.
“No problem daddy I understand, Catherine said and Pius looked at her.
“Daddy? He asked.
“Didn’t you say you’re my daddy? Or have you changed again? She asked and Pius smiled and hugged her.
“You don’t know how happy I am to hear you call me that, thank you love, he said.
“So will you still be away from us now? She asked.
“No, when you get discharged you’ll be coming home with me,you’ll be staying with me love, he replied.
“Yessssss! Thank you daddy, she said and hugged him………..

Bale was alone at home fiddling his phone when he heard the door bell rang,
“Who is it? He asked but it rang again with no one responding.
He stood up and opened up,
“Surprise! Christiana shouted startling him..
“Oh my! You scared me, I wasn’t expecting you now, i was thinking you’ll arrive here probably by 5pm or so, he said letting her in.
“Mom asked me to go early, she hates it when I travel in the evening, she replied..
“Welcome dear, I didn’t even give you a hug, he said and wanted to hug her but Christiana shyly ran away from him..
“Common stop that, just a hug please, you know i missed you, he said and she rolled her eyes.
“So who kept you busy here when i was away? She asked and Bale laughed.
“That’s simple, my phone, the television and the wine, he replied and Christiana looked at the TV and saw the news on.
“So any exciting news? She asked sitting down.
“Not much, just a little girl that went missing this morning anyway, i think by now her parents must have taken her because it didn’t popped up on again, Bale replied and the headline read the death of Cynthia Mukasa found dead in a farm, and they watched how the body of Cynthia was uncovered and taken away by the cops.
“Wait, I know her, yes i know her! Christy shouted pointing at the screen.
“Who is she? Bale asked.
“Mukasa wife, I can find Mukasa if so, that means Mukasa is here in the capital, Christy said.
“Common don’t be too sure, and where will you find him when the cops are in custody of her body? Bale asked.
“I can go to the station, I may see him around, please he alone knows where to find my daughter, don’t you understand?
Christy said and Bale nodded.
“But you just arrived, won’t you rest first? Bale asked but Christy shook her head and got up ready to leave.
“Okay fine I’ll go with you, just a minute so I’ll change up, Bale said and went in while Christy paced around anxious…………..

They arrived at the station and Christiana asked to see the body,
“Sorry who are you and how are you related to her? The cop asked.
“Uhmmm she was my teacher in school, have you seen her family yet? Christy replied.
“Anyway the father of her child already made himself known to us, a cop replied.
“You mean Mukasa? Christy asked.
“Her husband? From what we heard she’s no more married to him, its one Pius we know and not Mukasa. Please excuse me, the cop replied and Christy sadly looked at Bale and he touched her.
“Its okay, let’s go home first, He said.
“No, Mukasa may come around, besides if she’s no more married to him why is her name still Cynthia Mukasa? Christy asked almost in tears.
“Christy stop it and listen to me, we have to go home, you can’t find him here please let’s go, Bale said taking her away to his car and drove off with her.
Mukasa who didn’t see that news of his daughter missing was busy at work when his friend surprisingly saw him,
“I thought you’ve gone, why are you still here? His friend asked.
“What do you mean? Is it time for me to go? You didn’t tell me on Sundays we will go early, Mukasa innocently said.
“Oh sorry you didn’t watch the news, your daughter was tagged missing and i thought you left already to get her back, he replied and Mukasa eyes bulged out.
“When was that? Mukasa asked.
“In the morning, but you can still hurry up there, he replied.
“To where? Did you get the number? Mukasa shouted.
“No I didn’t, but go to the station and inquire there, they are in charge of her, I’m so sorry, his friend replied and Mukasa threw his tools and wore his shirt ready to leave.
“Please explain to the boss what happened okay, Mukasa said
“Yes i will, be careful, his friend said and Mukasa hurried off to the capital.
Immediately Mukasa arrived at the station was when Bale drove off together with Christiana…………..
