Episode 54

Bale met the woman he kept in charge on the school adminstration that morning,
“That girl Regina, what’s her full name? He asked.
“You mean the one registered last week? She asked.
“Yes yes, the little girl, he replied and she took up a long note.
“Okay Regina Mukasa, she replied and Bale eyes bulged out.
“Regina Mukasa? Let me see, he said taking the long note from her and saw all her details including her address.
“Any problem sir? The woman asked.
“No not at all, he replied and left the office to his own thinking hard.
“Regina Mukasa, and she’s the exact age of Christiana lost baby, this cant be happening no, he said and took his phone and called the number of yesterday.
“Bale how are you? He picked up.
“Very fine sir thank you, I was thinking, can I come over now? Bale asked.
“Sure if you’re free, he replied.
“Thanks sir, Bale said and dropped the call, left his office and drove off immediately.
Christiana in class quickly remembered something,
“Ermm please ma I need to get something from Mr Bale office, she said to her head teacher and she nodded.
She hurried off to Bale office to get the teaching materials he promised her but he wasn’t in.
She called his number immediately and he picked up,
“Christy any problem? He picked up.
“No, but you’re not in your office why? He asked.
“Yea I rushed to somewhere, why are you there? He asked.
“I came to pick the materials for that child I discussed with you, she replied..
“You mean Regina? He asked.
“Yea, i wanted starting today to begin her lecture, maybe tomorrow I’ll get it from you then, she said.
“Sorry I forgot, tomorrow I’ll make it ready for you, he said.
“Alright take care, she said and dropped the call and Bale hissed as he drove…..

Pius arrived in the hospital early enough and saw Catherine awake,
“Hey baby, he said giving her a peck but she looked at him with a frown..
“Ermm sorry we couldn’t come back yesterday to see you because it was late, how was your rest? he asked..
“Where is my mommy? I want to see my mommy, she said and he looked at her.
“Your mommy is there, he said touching her.
“My mommy is not there, else she would have visited me, take me to my mommy, she said.
“Baby don’t say that, your mommy also want to see you but its not safe for her now because the bad man is still there, he said.
“No i want to see my mommy, I can’t sleep without my mommy, I want to see her! She shouted and attempted to get down but he held her.
“Catherine stop it, you can’t see your mommy now, he said and hugged her while she begin to cry.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know how to tell you this but I pray you’ll be strong to understand your mommy is already dead, I’m so sorry my dear, he said in his heart.
The cops arrived later to check on Catherine and he gave them the samples of the DNA he got from himself and Catherine.
‘Won’t you come with us? A cop asked.
“No I want to be with her, she’s feeling too lonely here, he replied.
“Okay, we’ll be leaving now, they said.
“What about Mukasa? Pius asked.
“He submitted his own yesterday, they replied.
“Okay, and Akello? You don’t believe he’s part of this yet right? Pius asked and the cops looked at him.
“We will be going there after submitting this, one of them replied.
“Don’t let him escape the law, I don’t care if he’s part of you, justice must be served for what he has done, Pius said and the cops quietly left and he looked at Catherine who didn’t understand anything.
“What will you like to eat baby? He asked Catherine but she shook her head.
“Common baby you need to eat something, tell me anything and I’ll get it for you, Pius said.
“Noodles, she replied.
“With eggs and chicken right? He asked and she nodded.
“Okay I’ll bring that with your favorite drink too, give me some minutes alright, he said and left the room.
On the way his phone began to ring and he picked up,
“Hello good morning, he said.
“Why are you not at home? Achen asked and he stopped.
“You mean you’re at home? He asked.
“Daddy we are back, Princess shouted on phone.
“Baby I’ll soon be home okay, he said.
“Okay daddy, she said and Achen dropped the call.
“Hello hello! He shouted and got confused on what to do.
He hurriedly drove off to get Catherine something to eat first……….

Mukasa arrived at his working place and met his boss with a mood that didn’t look good at all,
“Good morning boss, please I want to apologize about yesterday, something came up and I had to hurry…….”is that so? Because you see something happened here too yesterday and you were no where to be found that minute it happened, do you know what that means? His boss asked and he stood foolishly looking at him.
“I don’t think i understand what you’re trying to say sir, Mukasa said.
“Okay I’ll tell you, my money got missed here yesterday, everyone was checked and you were absent even before the time closure, now that’s what I’m talking about because its still missing, he said.
“Sir I ran off to look for my lost daughter, I didn’t have the chance to meet you myself and I have no idea about the lost money, he said.
“Is that so? Look here, I don’t care if your daughter is lost or found, what i Care is my business and everyone abiding to my rules. I can make you the suspect of that missing money do you know that? He asked.
“But i didn’t steal it ,I’m not a thief and I won’t let you insult me this way! What right do you have just because you’re the boss doesn’t give you the right to accuse me falsely! Mukasa angrily shouted on him and the man smiled.
“Get out of my sight this minute! He shouted back and Mukasa came to his senses.
“Sorry sir there’s a lot going on with me now, i didn’t mean to shout on you, i really need this job badly, Mukasa pleaded.
“I don’t want to see you around here in the next minute else I’ll get you arrested! He shouted and stormed in and Mukasa weakly looked at him frustrated.
His friend approached him immediately,
“What happened? He asked.
“Looks like I’m done here, he doesn’t want to see me anymore, I’m so done with life, Mukasa said.
“So you’re leaving like that? Not even a little pay for your struggle these few days? His friend asked.
“That’s it, sorry I won’t be able to pay for the money you lend me to pay for transport and give my daughter something to eat, I’ll go find another job and repay you, Mukasa replied and he shook his head.
“Don’t worry about that, be strong man, I need to hurry back to work now, he said tapping him on his shoulders and ran off.
Mukasa sadly looked at him as he left and slowly left too, but kept looking back until he saw himself on the road back home.
His heart was boiling so much with anger as he remembered Cynthia death, and Catherine will soon be taken from him, and the little job he was opportune to get is gone too, he heaved and sat down on the road frustrated staring at the cars that passed tro and fro, and wish he could just dive in and end it all……….
