“Okay what did I miss here? And sorry for interrupting, James uncle walked in and they disengaged from the hug..
“Not much uncle, she’s Regina mother, James replied.
“Good morning sir, Christiana greeted.
“Morning my dear, you were staying with Bale I guess? He asked and she nodded.
“Alright, well I just got a call from the station that Bale is behaving in a weird manner, is your brother really okay Ochen? He asked and Ochen looked at James.
“Weird manner how uncle? James asked back.
“To them, he screams hitting himself around without feeling pains, and no one can calm him down, he replied and Ochen weakly sat down covering his head.
“What’s wrong? He asked again..
“Sorry sir, my brother has a mental issue, Ochen replied.
“What! Christiana shouted.
“Yes and I my late mom tired helping him out but he didn’t want to, he claims nothing is wrong with him and my dad took him out from the hospital when we forcefully took him there. There in Ghana he got involved in drugs making his situation more worst. Sir please I know my brother has done some wrong things which he need to be punished, but I hope you can understand that he’s not in his right senses. Can something be done about it? Ochen asked.
“We can’t pu nish a mad man, he’s not going to feel anything neither remorse, and it’ll be a complete waste of time. We need to get him treated before it gets worst, and I was about leaving to see the situation of things there, He replied.
“I’ll go with you sir, Ochen said.
“Alright then, the man said.
“Thank you so much sir for bringing back my daughter, I appreciate, Christiana said.
“I was only doing my job, the man said and left the room.
“I’ll be back okay, Ochen said to Christy and left with him and Christiana heaved and sat with Regina.
“Mommy are you tired? Regina asked.
“No darling, She replied.
“Mommy come and sleep here, the bed is big, Regina said and Christiana smiled.
“I can’t sleep here, why not get Better first so we will go home together and sleep there, Christy said.
“She’s fine now, some drugs will be given to her but you can take her home if you want, James said.
“I don’t even have a home to begin with, I need to go back to my mom, Christy sadly said.
“I would have asked you to stay with me for a mean while, but then my house is all gone, Mukasa said.
“Its no problem, you can always stay with us. At least Ochen is not Bale and he has shown himself many times to prove that, James came in.
“Still I don’t want to, I need to go back to my mom, she will be worried sick, Christy said.
“If you insist, James said.
“But can we stay here for the night and take off tomorrow morning? Christiana asked.
“I’ll talk to the doctor, and Regina will be well checked before you travel, James replied.
“Thank you so much, Christiana said and looked at Mukasa who had a sad look.
“I’m sorry Mukasa but you know I have to do this, but you are free to visit Regina, I won’t hide her from you, Christy said and he nodded.
“I don’t know how will i face your mom after all these years, I and Cynthia really treated her bad, Mukasa said.
“That reminds me, what happened to Cynthia? I saw the news and I’m sorry for your loss, Christy said and Mukasa forced a smile.
“You don’t have to be, Cynthia killed herself by going after her best friend husband and had a child with him hiding it from me. That’s how she died and the case is still up to know the exact mur derer though I don’t care about her or the case, I gat a lot already on my head to deal with, Mukasa said.
“But she’s your wife, you don’t need to do this, the pastor said.
“Pastor she was my wife but not anymore. I trained someone else daughter as my own ignorantly, that wasn’t enough, she died carrying another man baby still and you really think she is my wife? Mukasa asked.
“It’s painful I understand but then she’s dead, can you just cover the shame without anyone noticing? James asked.
“There’s nothing i can do, the man Is fi lthy rich and he can take care of everything on his own, don’t worry he’s capable and he should take charge, Mukasa said and everywhere was quiet.
“Ermmm I have to go to the church now, I have an appointment with someone this morning, The pastor finally broke the silence.
“No problem Pastor thank you so much, they chorused.
“May the peace of the Lord be with you all, the pastor said and left while Mukasa decided to escort him out and Christiana noticed Regina has fallen asleep again.
She pecked her on her forehead touching her hair gently and James heaved looking at her,
“You really hurt my brother you know, James said.
“How? She asked.
“The times you were with Bale and the times you pushed him away when he came to you. He kept following you around secretly making sure you were safe, but then you still didn’t notice how concerned he was, he replied.
“Did he really follow me for that Long? She asked and he nodded.
“When he Came down from Ghana finally, the first Person he looked for was you, but he was told you came down to the capital, he replied.
“But my mom gave him my number, which he never called, she said.
“That’s because he saw you and Bale together so happy, he felt so weak and hurt and decided not to, but he couldn’t stop following you, that’s how much he loves you, Bale dropped and a tear dropped from Christiana eyes and she got up from where she sat.
“But why should he love Someone like me? I don’t deserve that love, and please tell him to let go, she said.
“Is it that easy? If he had want to, he would have done that a long time ago when he was in Ghana, but you were in his mind, soul and body, he said.
“But what do you think can happen between us? Just look at me, I’m a single messed up mother, why should he love me with all I’ve been through when there are better girls out there? I think he deserve someone better, don’t you think so too? She asked facing him and he smiled shaking his head.
“and you feel you are not Better? Ochen heart has made the choice and there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. Its your choice to reject and hurt him more, but then all that has happened to you is not your fault. You are only looking at your flaws which we all gat, but Ochen sees more of you and he’s ready to stand by you, support and love you for who you are. Isn’t that more important?
I mean is that not what true love is all about? James asked and Christiana lips were shaking as tears streamed down her face and James got up and hugged her as she Cried on him……….
