2 days later……
Everyone gathered in the court including Cynthia family, but Achen pointed Akello to be the k ller and pleaded not guilty.
“Lies! Akello wife stood up shouting and she was ordered to sit down.
“My Lord if you don’t mind, I think Mrs Achen here need to be heard before she gets sentenced, last I checked none of the witnesses here saw when or how she ki lled the late Cynthia, and Akello was the last person to be seen with her in the first place. I think he needs to explain to us how it happened, Mark came in.
“I won’t say anything with such an accusation until I have my lawyer, isn’t that how it suppose to be? Akello asked.
“Fine, this court is being adjoined in two days time, the magistrate said……….

“The nerve of that woman and Pius, he even got her a lawyer and I heard he’s so good in cases like this, what will be your fate now! Akello wife shouted when they got home and Akello sat on the sofa saying nothing.
“Does it mean I am going to fight my only sister in court now? Akello asked her back.
“No, you are going to dance with her in court, what kind of question is that! His wife shouted.
“Oh stop this okay! I did it and so what? Must I go fighting with my only family? Do you realize she’s the only one I have? He asked.
“And do you realize you are the only one we have? She asked back.
“Please if it has gotten to the point of fighting with my kid sister despite I did it…… “Despite she made you do it! Gosh! She shouted and angrily went in.
Akello sighed and called Pius and he picked up,
“Any problem? Pius asked.
“I see you are very concerned about my sister now, probably because your mistress is dead. But whatever you are forcing me do, I won’t carry on with it, Akello replied.
“I wish I understand what you mean by that, Pius said.
“I’m sure you do, I won’t fight my sister, Akello replied.
“No one asked you to, so are you ready to safe your sister out of this peacefully? Pius asked.
“And you will promise me you will take care of my family, Akello said.
“Akello I know you did it, and I only want Cynthia death to be avenged nothing else. No matter what happened, she didn’t deserve to die, there are better and other ways to revenge for her betrayal to your sister, but please not de ath. You will only serve in jail but I promise to support your family in every way I can and restore you back, this is my own way of saying I’m sorry for hurting your sister, Pius said and Akello sorrowfully nodded.
“I’lo give myself up, Achen didn’t do it but I did, Akello said.
“Thank you, Pius said and Akello dropped the call and quickly wrote down a little note for his family, folded it and drove out before his wife could know what was happening..
His wife saw him driving out and rushed out but saw the note on the table,
“I know it will hurt, but I can’t bear it anymore. Please understand I love my sister and fighting her this way when she’s also a victim is not fair to her and the baby she’s carrying. I love you and the kids and you know it, please don’t look for me, She read and her eyes bulged out.
She quickly dialed his number with her hands shivering but it wasn’t going through,
“No you can’t do this to us! She shouted throwing the note and sat down crying……….

No one heard or saw from Akello, and surprisingly he appeared in court and confessed to be the k ller narrating everything that took place that fateful night, and how he strangled Cynthia and disposed her body in the bush.
“I never thought it will end this way neither did my sister wanted this, but I was only fighting for my dearest sister who didn’t deserve such a betrayal from her husband and best friend. Please Achen forgive me, Akello concluded while Achen stood crying wishing to run to him but she couldn’t.
With Akello statement, He was sentenced to jail and his job relieved from him, while Achen was set free.
“No! This is all your fault! Akello wife screamed and he turned and looked at her with the kids.
“I’m sorry, he whispered and was handcuffed by the policemen.
Achen ran and hugged him tight,
‘I’m sorry brother, I’m so sorry, she cried and Akello was dragged out away from her.
“Daddy! Akello kids shouted not able to reach him.
“I love you, please take care of yourselves and forgive daddy! Akello Shouted.
Princess ran to Achen while was still crying and she carried her,
“How are you baby? She asked touching her and Akello wife angrily approached her.
“Should I applaud you for a job well done? Are you happy now huh tell me! She shouted and pushed Achen and she was held.
“Get your hands off me! This is all your fault! When my husband was busy concentrating with his work and family, you took your bad luck self and made him engage himself with this mess! You’re the k ller, you are the k ller cause its your fault! Akello wife kept shouting struggling with those who held her, while Achen cried on Princess not knowing what to say.
“Mommy let’s go, daddy is waiting,Princess said when Akello wife left and she looked up to see Pius with a sad look.
She sniffed cleaning her tears and took Princess out saying nothing to him..
Pius met with her outside and stopped her from behind, and she gave him a sIap.
“Don’t you dare touch me you b tard! Were you here to take me home? Now let me tell you this, I have no place with you anymore, I’ll be going away with my daughter and don’t you dare come near us! She shouted.
“Achen please I’m sorry, I know I was wrong but please don’t do this, Pius said.
“Tell me what to do then, go back to you like nothing happened when my brother is in jail because of what you did? He tried saving my home, but what we didn’t understand is that I had no home at first, I could have known better all this wouldn’t have happened! She shouted with tears streaming down her face.
“Don’t dare come near me, soon you’ll have the divorce papers, she continued and left with Princess while he weakly looked at her………

A week later Cynthia was laid to rest, Ochen drove down to Gulu to pick Christiana who wanted attending the burial. Mukasa stood looking at how she was buried and shook off the tears he didn’t know gathered as memories of them flashed back and Ochen stood beside him together with Christiana and he gave a weak smile.
“I’m sorry, Christiana said and he shook his head.
“We would have been okay together, but she let riches clouded her more than her love for me. Everything crumbled when I lost my job, initially we didn’t have any problem but it hurts, it hurts she left in such a shameful way. But I truly do love her, Mukasa said and Ochen touched him and took him away.
They saw Achen at their back holding Princess all dressed on black with a sad face,
“You came? Mukasa asked and she slowly went close.
“I’m sorry, I wanted to see my friend for the last time, Achen said.
“Its okay, Mukasa said and she made few steps to where she was buried and squatted facing her crying.
“Cynthia I’m sorry, I don’t know what to say right now but I hope you see how deeply sorry I am. But I couldn’t help it when you took the one person i loved the most, yet you still smiled at me pretending all was fine. I wonder what I ever did to you, but still, you shouldn’t have died. Farewell best friend, Farewell sister, I miss you, Achen said in tears and she felt a hand raising her up and it was Christiana.
“Its okay, is not good for your condition you know, Christy calmly said and Achen nodded.
“I think I owe you an apology for how we both treated you then, I’m sorry Christiana, Achen said and Christy smiled.
“Every anger died off when I saw my daughter, don’t think about It anymore, Christy said and hugged her………..

Ochen father arranged for Bale to be transferred to a specialist where Bale would be properly treated.
Ochen met with him there to see how it went, and as usual he didn’t talk to him,
“Thank you doctor, Ochen said to the doctor and turned to leave but his father held his hand from behind.
“Ochen how long will you continue this my son? Please when will you forgive me? I’m so sorry for everything I did, that was my weakness and I made it took the best of me, I wasn’t able to control it and it made me a fool. I agree I wasn’t there for you nor your mom, even if I wanted to the woman i went away with didn’t give me the chance to. Please I’m back, both in my body and sense, give me a chance to be a father to you even if is just for a short while before I’ll meet your mom, please Ochen, his father pleaded and Ochen looked at him..
“You want to be a father to me now What for? Can you clothe or feed me? Ochen asked and his father closed his eyes.
“Ochen please have mercy, give me the chance to fulfill the promise I made to your mother………”what do you know about my mother when you were never there before she died! Ochen shouted.
“That’s not true Ochen, I was with her. I gave the last milk she took before she passed out, Ochen i tried saving your mother’s life, he replied and Ochen angrily watched him with tears streaming down his face.
“I know you were thinking I don’t care about you all, but believe me when I said I was always lingering near just to make sure you all are fine though I couldn’t return, because I thought you all were better without me, he continued.
“Yes you’re right,we are better without you, Ochen said and left immediately…………..
