CHEATED : EPISODE 1 – 20

EPISODE 17

Emma kept watching his friend as he paced up and down his room.

“You haven’t figured anything yet?” Emmanuel asked with raised eyebrows.

“I have. We’d just nullify the consequences that’d arise as a result of what you saw and plead the blood of Jesus, then you’d go home and I’d have to work with the Holy Spirit to know what next because as you’re looking at me, I’m as confused and shocked as you are.” Kingsley said as Emma nodded at intervals.

As they were about going deep into prayers, Emmanuel’s phone began to ring and on realising it was his dad calling, he ignored the call.

“Guy pick your call nw.” Kingsley said abit pissed as the phone rang for the umpteenth time.

“K I don’t want to jare.” He replied nonchalantly.

“We’re done with prayers already nw. You can pick it now.”

“The caller is my dad; how do I explain where I am and what I’m doing here?”

CHEATED : EPISODE 1 – 20

Mr. Folawe’s POV

I don’t seem to understand why Emma isn’t picking his calls.

Honestly, I’m more scared for, than annoyed with him.

My instincts were right afterall.

Baba called to tell me an abomination has been committed; that my secret has been exposed and the resultant consequences would be tragic

I don’t understand the consequence he’s talking about but whatever it is, it won’t favour my son, my only son!

The Next Day

“Guy it’s time to go home o. I already want to leave for work.” Kingsley said as he got dressed.

“Work? What work?” Emma asked.

“I work in a restaurant now.” Kingsley said without looking at him.

“Oh wow. Wow wow wow. You know I was actually still working something out for you before my mom’s sudden illness; I didn’t know you’ve settled already.”

“It’s not like I’ve settled per say. The job came suddenly and I doubt if it’s lucrative. I didn’t plan leaving you in the dark anyway.”

“Well it’s fine. So you’re going there now right?”

“Yes. That’s why I’m asking you to go back home.”

“Me I’m not going back home o.” He said as K stared at him for sometime.

“I hope you know I can’t feed you.”

“I know, and that’s not a problem. I just don’t want to go until I’m sure I’m safe. Besides, it’s possible dad would be annoyed with me by now…..”

“Okay o. Me I’m off to work.”

“Alright, later then.”

“Hey Kingsley, you’re here already. A punctual person I suppose.” His boss said as he was very early.

“Punctuality they say, is the soul of business.” He said with a smile that disappeared in a short while as soon as he saw another man that looked like an employee, coming behind her.

“Oh don’t be confused Kingsley, let me introduce you to him. His name is Daniel. He’d be your co-worker from now on.” She said as K forced a smile.

“I hope this wouldn’t reduce my salary.” He thought inwardly as they engaged in a handshake.

“It’d be nice working with you.” Daniel said as Kingsley nooded with a smile in response.

“Okay let’s get to work now, our customers should soon start coming in any moment from now.”

“So you’ve been working here for a while a guess?” Daniel said, trying to engage his fellow employee in a conversation.

“Guessed wrong. It’s not even been up to a week I started working here.”

“Ohh…then I guess we’re both new here then.” He said as Kingsley nodded, still concentrating on his workload.

“How do you think we should get more customers for madam?”

“I don’t know. She said it hasn’t always been like this and from what she told me, something fishy happened that landed her in this situation.”

“True, she told me too.”

“Oh really? I think she’s a free minded person then.”

“Yes but have you ever thought of how and why the enemy prevailed over her business?”

“Well, because people are jealous?”

“Smiles….really? That’s your best response?”

“I don’t know, haven’t thought of it.” Kingsley replied with a shrug.

“Well if you ask me, I’d say she wasn’t very close with God. If she was, He would’ve told her beforehand and also what to do about it.”

“Hmmm…..yes but….this is business right? Is God really interested in what goes on in our businesses?”

“God is interested in every tiny bit of our lives, Kingsley. The only problem is that we humans limit Him and tell Him the areas where He has a say in our lives and the areas He shouldn’t give His opinion on.”

“Oh…..” Kingsley said as he nodded at intervals.

“I don’t mean to preach to you but He really is interested in everything that happens to us and wants us to tell Him about it. Be it our love lives, academics, businesses, anything.”

“Hmmm….I guess that’s where she missed it then, since she said she’s a prayerful Christain. The problem was that she shut God out of the business part of her life and being a gentle God, he didn’t argue or force Himself on her.” Kingsley said as Daniel nodded with a satisfactory smile.

“Exactly, you are getting the point.”

“Hmmm….so what can be done now?”

“Its simple; just repent for not letting Him fully have His way because by so doing, she let the enemy prevail over her life.

Then talk to God about it and ask what should be done.” Daniel said and just then, Kingsley remembered Emma. It was true He prayed but he didn’t wait for God to speak to Him on the action to take it the direction his prayers should go.

“Hmmm….you know it’s actually nice chatting with you. I love the fact that you’re this knowledgeable about Him.” Kingsley said as Daniel smiled.

Soon it was closing hours and everyone including Kingsley retired for home.

“Hmmmm….at some point I was thinking Daniel was going to be my rival but I was totally wrong. This weakness of self-righteousness has to stop, so I’d learn from others and grow.” Kingsley reasoned within as he resulted to go to God in prayers about Emma’s case as soon as he gets home.
