CHEATED : EPISODE 1 – 20
Episode 18
“Oh Lord forgive me for not seeking your counsel concerning Emmanuel’s case. I’m here now Lord, to listen to what you have to say about him.” He said in between his prayers in the midnight hour as he prayed some more and resolved to the “waiting” part of prayer which to him, was to read the word of God.
“Your prayers would bring little or no result.” He heard as he thought on the words carefully.
“But why?” He reasoned within.
“The person you are praying for, I do not have a say over what happens in his life; he isn’t mine..” The voice responded, and he knew it was the Holy Spirit responding.
Kingsley thought for a while and then it hit him.
“He isn’t yours because he isn’t dedicated to you; simply put, he hasn’t given his life to Christ.” He said as he snapped his fingers.
“Exactly. You can’t pray certain prayers for someone who isn’t mine, unless it’s about mercy to prevail, interceding for salvation and a few others.
Prayers like the one you’re uttering for him-the prayer of protection- can only bring little result and may even put you into trouble. You can’t ask a father of kids to protect a kid he doesn’t know from Adam, can you?”
“No.”
“Good. Likewise God. Humans are created in His image so it is very possible to understand Him using your very own way of living as examples.” He said as Kingsley thought for a while.
“So first things first, he needs to surrender his life to Christ for my prayers for him to be effective.” He said as he stared at Emmanuel where he was sleeping.
“But he has always been with me throughout school then and he……hmmmm, it doesn’t matter. That he loved what I did and my passion for Christ doesn’t really mean he has given his life to Him. Hmmmmmm…..I’d tell him in the morning.” He thought further before praying a little more and retiring to sleep.
“Bro good morning.” Emma greeted as soon as he saw Kingsley was up.
“Morning, how you dey na.”
“I dey o. Ehe, I saw you holding a personal vigil earlier on, but I was just too tired to join you.”
“Oh…. okay”
“Yeah so…did you figure out anything like….the next move we should take?”
“Okay about that….see guy the thing is you need to become His child so you can have access to his provision of protection.”
“Okay okay no problem.” Emma said as he surrendered his life to Christ himself while Kingsley stood looking at him in surprise. He had actually thought he was going to do alot of convincing but was proved wrong.
“Wow….so fast?” Kingsley thought aloud.
“Guy abeg leave that thing. It’s a matter of life and death here bro. I no wan die abi you no understand.” He said as K nodded thoughtfully.
“Oya what next?” Emma asked after a brief silence from K.
“The next thing is to close all doors.”
“Close all doors? Like I should house arrest myself?” He asked as K chuckled.
“No, that’s not what I mean. You see when you’re asking God for something; be it a miracle, breakthrough or protection, you need to have it at the back of your mind that there’s always someone to accuse you and state so many reasons as to why you shouldn’t get what you’re asking for.
The only way you can prevail against such accusations is to close all possible avenues through which you can be accused of, and denied your answer from heaven.”
“Hmmm…..so what door are we closing now?”
“The doors of besetting sins and doors of weaknesses. For example the door of anger- closing that door means you won’t let anything that happens get you annoyed. Same goes with the door of fornication, lying etc.”
“Hmmmm……okay so in simple terms, I’m to live a righteous life so there won’t be a reason my prayers won’t be answered.”
“Exactly.”
“Okay no problem. Giving your life to Christ and closing all doors. What next?”
“The next thing is consistency in prayers. You’d need to be consistent in prayers if you’d want to win.”
“Okay but what kind of prayers will I be praying?”
“You can pray using the weapons God has given to us. You can use the Blood of Jesus which is common amongst Christains, you could use the name of Jesus and as you grow in Christ, you’d discover other weapons you have to use.”
“Okay….” Emma said as he tried wrapping everything round his head.
“Okay so the prayers would be against who? My dad?”
“Of course not. Your dad is just a human being. What you’d be praying against would be the forces that might want to attack you through several means. With your weapon, you can be offensive or defensive.”
“Hmm…. please explain the offensive and defensive part, because I don’t understand.”
“The weapons of our warfare which aren’t carnal but mighty through God, can be used to either defend ourselves or attack the enemy.
Now let’s take the Blood of Jesus as an example.
This weapon can be used offensively or defensively in so many ways, depending on what you’re facing.
Let me site two prayer points:
“Every sacrifice offered against my life, be wasted by the blood of Jesus, in the name of Jesus.”
“I plead the blood of Jesus in my environment, in the name of Jesus.”
Now can you differentiate the offensive from the defective?” K asked, to be sure he was being understood.
“Yes. Pleading the blood is defensive, so when enemies come to attack you and they see the blood, they’d be helpless. But using the blood to nullify the sacrifice is offensive, having taken the battle to the gates.”
“Good! I’m glad you understand it now. Soon I’d talk more on it so you……”
“Why not now? I mean this is Saturday already.” Emma said as K gave a smirk.
“Relax guy. We have to do one or two things around here and besides, there’s no food in the house so I have to withdraw some money, rush to the market and prepare something for us to eat. We’d talk exclusively on the weapons of our warfare and go to use them by evening, I promise.” He said assuringly.

Mr. Folawe’s POV
Things are getting worse daily. I don’t seem to understand anything any longer. Emmanuel isn’t picking his calls and I fear for him.
The doctor (He’s generally referred to as ‘Baba’ but I prefer calling him Doc.) has been calling me to warn me of the dangerous consequences that could be averted with a sacrifice if only I come with the offender to offer it, or else the end might be catastrophic.
“Everything is so messed up” I said in groans as I held my hand in frustration, sitting beside my very sick wife.
While still thinking if my life and what next to do, a call came in and on checking the Caller ID, it was Douglas.
Knowing the reason for his calls, he picked up weakly.
? Hello
? Mr. Folawe exactly is the problem? Why don’t you bring the offender so everything would go back to normal???? When did you change, because I never knew you to be this stubborn.
? Mr. Douglas you don’t understand. The issue on ground is far beyond me. I’ve been trying to……
? Mr. Folawe you and I know there’s no excuse whatsoever. Baba is very angry and with the way he was sounding the last time we spoke, the consequences would be highly dangerous and the life of your only son would be taken!
? *Some minutes of silence* Okay but if I lose my son, can I at least have my wife back? I can’t lose two loved ones in a season.
? Are you insane? Your wife is a settled deal already so please go find a way to sort yourself out. Provide your son for the sacrifice or else, disaster is near. *Cuts call*

Douglas’ POV
“Dmn it!” I said in anger after the phone conversation as I hit the table in my study room.
I mean, what is Mr. Folawe thinking? For goodness’sake this is going to affect me big time; I might be demoted because I’m the one who introduced him to the club.
I waited a long time to get tho this height in the club and no one is going bring me down!!!
I was still furiously pacing around when a call came him- the call I’ve been dreading for days now, all thanks to my friend and his god-damned son.
“Hello baba.” I said, trying to hide my fright behind my bold voice.
“Were you able to contact him?”
“Yes baba”
“So? Any positive response?” He asked as I kept quiet for some minutes before responding in the negative.
“That man is daring something bigger than him. If he doesn’t provide his son, we’d call his spirit to do it. The sacrifice must be made!” He said sternly as he cut the call on me.
“Folawe why you doing this? You’re going to be in big trouble- you and your only son.”
