“Baby it’s too painful” Said a woman dressed in a gorgeous writhing in p.ain as she alighted from her husband’s car.
“Sorry dear, it’s your first that’s why. We’re already here.” Her husband encouraged as a nurse rushed to assist on sighting them.
“Kenneth this pain is to much….carry the bag nw.” A woman said writhing in pain as she patiently waited for her husband to get the things from cab.
“Madam easy o, you go born without wahala” The taxi shouted from inside as he was paid his transport fare and then drove off.
“Wow, this is a miracle! A woman just gave birth to a bouncing set of fraternal twins!” The doctor said on discussing with his nurse and heading towards the waiting room to break the news to her husband.
“Excuse me Sir, please I’m looking for one wealthy looking man that sat just next to you.” The doctor said, referring to the poor man.
“Oh he said he forgot the materials for the babies so went home to quickly get them.”
“Oh okay, no problem. He should be here soon then.
“He isn’t back yet?” The doctor asked.
“No. Doctor please how is my own wife?”
“I’m sorry Sir, we had some complications and we tried her best to…..”
“Is she alright?” The poor and hagard looking man asked.
“Thankfully, we were able to get your wife in good condition and deliver safely too…..”
“Oh, thank God.”
“But the child isn’t living.”
“What? What do you mean, doctor?”
“The child is no more and it’s unfortunate that she may not bear children in her life again.” The doctor said as he paced about in confusion.
“So you mean to tell me I’ll remain fatherless for the rest of my life??”
“There’s still a possibility she’d concieve and put to bed, but the chances are lamentably slim.”
“No no no….this….this….it has to be a joke. We’ve waited for a child for eight years doctor, eight good years! We were extremely happy she concieved at last and now this?”
“I’m sorry to hear that. We’re so sorry Sir, but we tried our best.” The doctor said and thereafter walked out as his attention was needed in one of the wards.
“What do I do now? The poor man reasoned and just then, a mischievous idea struck his mind and he decided to share it with the Doctor.
“What? Exchange the baby? That is against my professional ethics!” The doctor who was shocked to the bones said, shaking his head at how wicked human beings could be to one another.
“Doc. I’m not sure my wife would ever give birth again, and the woman in question has a set of twins. Just give me one of them and replace it with my wife’s…. simple! See Doctor, nobody would know about this except us, and that makes things even easier.”
“With all due respect and honesty Sir, this is a complete insult to my profession and I’m not going to be a part of this. You may please leave my office.” The doctor said, trying his best to be calm as the man in question shamefully left his office.
“It seems I’m alone in this; the doctor isn’t willing to help. What do I….” He was reasoning in the waiting room as a woman greeted and passed, causing him to stare.
“That must be the matron! She should be able to help me.” He said as he stood up with the intention to approach her.
“I’ve done your bidding, congratulations.”
Kingsley was confused as soon as he woke up.
“What kind of dream is that? It was so long and looked like film.” He wondered inwardly.
“This dream is a big puzzle. The worst is I couldn’t recognize anyone so it’s difficult to link up with……wait.” He paused in his thinking as soon as his memory flashed back to few days ago in prayers.
“Wait…..I remember when praying, I heard a voice mention my place of birth. Does it have something to do with this? Is God trying to tell him something? Is there a secret I need to know that I don’t?” He kept asking himself questions upon questions but there was none to answer.
“I’m going back to my father’s house. My parents would definitely know a thing or two about this.” He thought conclusively as he made up his mind to leave for home first thing tomorrow morning.
