Episode 34.
It’s been a while since favour had taken her intercession for Mr Frank, her dad’s friend, seriously.
Though she hadn’t seen any glaring change yet, she had seen one or two signs that communicated to her that her prayers was accumulating, and things would work out well soon.
One of the signs she saw was in her dreams.She had the exact dream about Mr. Frank when he first came, but this time, the odour oozing out from Mr. Frank in the spirit reduced. This made her happy,and motivated her to keep praying.
“I do not understand why I’ve not been able to access Mbakwe’s son for sometime now, no matter how hard I try.” The ruler thought as he thought in his abode late in the evening. Just then, the space he was subconsciously staring at, began to display images like film.
“Oh I see! There’s a wall of protection around him.” He soliloquized, according to what he was shown.
“But how? From where? I mean his father is one of us. Or is he using the same powers we gave him to protect him from us?” He questioned further as the next image revealed the answer to his question.
” A girl? A young girl? What could a young girl of this age possibly know about things of the spirit, or is she ignorant of the havoc she’s causing?”he asked himself as the image cleared and all that could be seen was the physical air.
“Hmmmm….. A little girl turned adversary? How do I deal with this one?” He asked no one in particular, thinking deeply about the best method to use in getting his opponent out of the way.
Rose came home that evening to find her roommate on the bed.
“Hey babe” Ann, her roommate,greeted on seeing her walk in.
“Babe, is something wrong?” She asked concerned as Rose didn’t say a word.
“You’ve been…… Oh my God! Your eyes are extremely bulgy. Rose what’s the problem? Who did this to you?” Ann asked, sitting besides her on the sofa as fresh tears hotly rolled down Rose’s cheek.
“I hardly see you cry this way: this means you’re deeply hurt. Talk to me roomie, what is the problem? What happened? Is it work? Or you lost a huge amount of money or …………. What is it? Please talk to me.” Ann said as Rose gave her a tight hug still in tears..
“It’s okay dear, it’s okay. Things will be fine.” Ann comforted and succeeded in making Rose calm after some minutes.
“Now tell me who so what did this to you?”
“Emmanuel. It’s Emmanuel,he………he”
She tried speaking but words failed to express how hurt she felt.
“It’s fine, say no more. I’d go get you something to eat then we’d talk about him later okay” she said and thereafter left for the kitchen.
“Emma jilted me………this evening.”
“How? Why? He left you for another woman or what?”
“If that were to be the case, I wouldn’t have been weeping profusely earlier on”
“Okay…. so what’s the case?”
“He said he wants to get serious with his spiritual growth in order to handle some family issues,”
“And you are a stumbling block to him or what ?”
“Exactly what he was indirectly saying ooo….”
“Hmmm… so what do you want to do about it?” Ann asked as Rose paused for a while.
The reality of herself and Emma not being A couple any longer hurt her afresh. She was close to shedding tears when Ann rebuked her.
“Be strong young lady, you’ve cried enough! This is the time to wipe those tears, put your emotions aside and plan your revenge.” And said.
“I ask you again: what’s your plan? What are you going to do about this new development?”
“Honestly I don’t know yet. All I know is, he isn’t gonna get away with this.”
“Without a plan? Well, I know what we can do to him.”
“Really? Tell me then, I’m all ears.” She said as Ann moved close to her to whisper something in her ears.
“Geez! Ann that’s too far!” Rose exclaimed, withdrawing from her in shock.
“What’s too far? Wait….what have I said that’s too far? That’s just a mild way of dealing with him, if you don’t know.”
“Oh really? What else could be worse than that.”
“Promoting him to heaven in a painful way of course.”
“Ann!” Rose exclaimed as she marvelled greatly at the kind of person she lived with.

Rose’s POV
I simply can’t believe Ann’s suggestion.
I mean I’ve always known her to me a very cheerful person but bitter at heart when it has to do with men but this is extreme.
She’s way older than I am, and has been jilted so many times. Worse still, time wasn’t on her side and her parents were expecting the usuals but no one is forthcoming.
How we met? Well, she’s my old course and roommate back in the university days and we’ve been living together since then, at least till someone comes to take one of us away (smiles). Don’t get me wrong; I have parents, and I visit them often- forthnightly, to be precise. But the question to live as a spinster made me live separately from them, though we’re in the same state.
Ann on the other hand doesn’t visit her parents as often as I do because they’re on her neck for an in-law. I don’t blame them, neither do I blame her.
Anyway my headache now is; what she’s suggesting I do to hurt Emmanuel in the name of revenge is just unthinkable and outrageous as far as I’m concerned.
I mean, how can I destroy the one I claim to love? Omo, that’s too far o….
“What is it? Are you thinking about my suggestion?” Ann asked on noticing my silence
“Ann that’s not revenge, it’s wickedness. How would you suggest that kind of thing?”
“Suggest what kind of thing? What did I say wrong? Come on, I gave you two suggestions: either you poison him or destroy what both he and his dad have worked for, for years.”
“Haba….just listen to yourself. All because of….”
“Let me finish. Whichever option you choose, it’s not going to be a difficult task at all. All you need do is pretend you’ve forgiven him and suggest you’d be friends still.
If poisoning him is what you choose, find a way to get him drunk and….you know what to do to his drink. If he doesn’t drink, then get him to have a date with you at his abode. I said his abode because……”
“E don do, abeg (it’s enough, please). Ah ah. Ann!!! Geez.” I exclaimed.
“You kuku know I’m stubborn, so better let me finish.” She said as I eyed her and hissed.
“If you decide to pick the second option, it’s quite easier than the first since you have access to his office.
When you know he’s not around, you can just majestically walk into his office and do your thing”
“What if he informs the secretary not to let me in any longer?” I asked and she smiled. I wonder why she’s smiling.
“”Amm…I feel you’re giving in to this one” she teased and thereafter laughed.
“Well, that’s not a problem at all. You could bribe her.
Humans are naturally corrupt and untrustworthy, you know. Just promise to pay three times her salary and the deed is done.”
“If she’s loyal and doesn’t accept.. bribe nko? Worse still, she reports me to the boss who’d consequently ban me from his office or even the company. Ann, are you thinking of my image being tarnished at all?”
“Oh come on, stop being pessimistic”
“On the contrary, I’m being realistic. Look, I know his secret a bit, at least, and I doubt if she’d give in to all this, regardless of the mouth watering pay. Come to think of it, how do you plan to pay her? Three times her salary is huge. You know, right?”
“Who spoke about paying her here? I said promise her..promise to pay her and let’s get this settled first”
“Promise? Geez!… How could you?…I’m speechless right now, I don’t even know what to say.”
“Rose, we do not have to pay her. The promise is just more or less like a bait. Just something to make her give in”
“And when she comes asking for her pay?” I asked as she kept quiet.
“What is it? You’re not talking again ni? Answer me joor. When she comes for her pay, making threats nko?” I asked but she still maintained her silence.
“Oh, so you didn’t think it through, right? You know what? Forget the revenge thing; he doesn’t deserve such treatment, no matter how hurt get has made me feel.”
“Don’t tell me you pity him.” She said. I gave no response and just walked out.
“I need fresh air, please.”
