CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40

Episode 37

That night, Rose couldn’t sleep as she kept referring back to her discussion to her long time friend and best friend, Lilian.

Lilian told her the main reason she came home was because of her traditional and white wedding coming up in a month time.
Although she was happy with her, it broke her heart into pieces.

She remembered back then in the university when they set a year they wanted to settle down, alongside the sacrifices they were willing to offer in order to achieve their goals, one of which was abstaining from anything sexual. They took their decision serious and likened it to a race, promising to keep themselves motivated in order to stay determined because they knew it wasn’t gonna be easy.

Unfortunately, she stopped halfway and enjoyed the very pleasure they derived themselves of, as she forgot about the whole thing.

“Truly, I was disconnected.” Rose soliloquized as she got up to find herself something to eat.

Ann had told her she was not coming home for about a week so she was alone; this gave her time to think and process things.

“Lilian was able to make it to the ‘finish line’, while I fell by the wayside.” She muttered to herself, as she recalled the year they had set was the present year they were in now.

Remembering everything made her want to shed fresh tears, so she decided to distract her thoughts with a movie, as she had her dinner.

CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40

ONE MONTH LATER

“Emmanuel…..Emmanuel…..Emma wake up.” Mr. Folawe said, trying to wake him up.

“Kai……Daddy I just got back to sleep not long ago na. I’ve been praying since midnight.” Emma whine as his dad motioned on him to kep quiet and follow him.

“Where are we going?” Emma questioned but got no response.

“Mom?” Emma whispered as they got to her room.

“Her…..her……her skin…it’s returning back to normal. She’s breathing better too.” Emma said with so much joy as he examined her like the family doctor would do.

“Will she be fine without the oxygen stuff now? Should I take it off?” Emma questioned.

“I do not know, but it’s best you leave everything the way it is till I call the Doc. later today.”

“Okay. But how did you know she was healing?”

“They’ve lost her.”

“They’ve….who?”

“They’ve lost her soul. Your prayers and erection of a strong wall of protection around her caused it. Also, you successfully burnt all ladders through which the enemy would’ve used to get you and consequently counter your prayers.” His dad explained as Emma observed his mom.

“But how did you know?” Emma asked.

“I saw it in my dream just now.”

“Ohhh….that explains it.”

“Congratulations son, you’ve won this battle.” His dad said with a smile.

“Thank you Jesus. I’m so happy dad. But I have questions to ask.”

“Sure, I know you would. But not here, let’s not disturb your mom.” He said and Emma understood, so they queity left the room.

“You mentioned something like ladder. The last time I heard that was from Kingsley. So what or who was the ladder in this case?” Emma asked as soon as they got to his room.

“In those days while I was still a member, whenever we held our target hostage and someone wanted to help such a person via intercession, we thoroughly search the person’s life for a loophole – an area of his life not strictly in the accordance of the word of God. Once that is found, we become the serpent that bites where the hedge is broken.”

“Okay so in simple terms, this loophole is a weakness.”

“Exactly! Your weak point.”

“Wow. Okay so what was mine?”

“I don’t know, you tell me.” His dad said as he thought hard.

“Is it…..Is it Rose? No, it can’t be her.” Emma thought aloud as Mr. Folawe smirked.

“Hey, a fellow being can’t be your weakness. You can’t blame your own mistakes and shortcomings on someone, you know.”

“Okay. If it wasn’t her, then there’s no other step I took for the sake of my spiritual life and prayers for my family. “

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. At least not one I can think of.”

“The ladder that could be used against you wasn’t Rose; neither was she your weakness. Rather, it was the sxual intimacy you frequently had with her.”

“Sxual intimacy? But I wasn’t sleeping with her. She was too stubborn to let me totally have my way with her.”

“That isn’t necessary. A weakness is a weakness, and we specialize in converting unaddressed and constantly fed weaknesses to ladders. You having sex with her wasn’t really a problem if that was the area they had wanted to exploit and use against you. Since your sexual life wasn’t strictly in accordance with the Scriptures you claim to fiollow, it’d be in their possession and control, making it very easy to exploit to your destruction.

It’d be very easy to makes you have uncontrolled sexual urges and want to go further when with her, and that’d be it. The hedge would then be broken because the fall would be inevitable since it’s in our control. The only thing that can save someone at that dying minute of falling is the intercession of someone.”

“Hmmmm…..Okay so what if someone has a weakness and knows about it? Can it still be used against such a person?”

“Of vourse yes, because it’d be very difficult as the person is aware of his shortcomings and finding several ways possible to address it. It becomes a ‘mission impoosible’ task to use against him when he has handed such issue over to the God’s Spirit and is consciously starving the weakness.”

“God’s Spirit you mean the Spirit of God.”

“Yes.”

“Okay but……”

“Emmanuel, are you interviewing me or what? It’s almost sunrise and we haven’t prepared for work yet.” Mr. Folawe said jokingly on checking the time. He needed to be early for work that day.

“I’m sorry dad, I’m just curious. Few more questions and I’d be done.”

“Okay, but make it snappy. I should be in the office in about 45mins from now.”

“Okay, no problem.” Emma said, as he readjusted himself to as further questions.

“You said something about starving your weakness. How can it be done?”

“Okay that’s only possible when you’re aware of them. Take for example my weakness is short-temperedness. I know it’s my weakness and I hand it over to God. Anger, hate, love and happiness all have to do with either feelings or emotions; so I take a step further and hand my emotions over to God’s Spirit. While doing that in the place of prayer, I intentionally not talk when provoked, though this process is going to be very painful for me. When I refuse to get angry no matter what for about a month or more, I discover I no longer have to put much efforts in controlling myself; thus, it’s gradually becoming a part of me to be calm in tensed and provoking situations.
Now what is happening in the realm of the Spirit is that you’re starving the cub the enemy is trying to invest inside of you.”

“A cub?”

“Don’t interrupt, I’d explain.”

“Yes Sir.”

“What the enemy plans to do with the weakness of a person is very devastating, but some are ignorant of this. You weakness is an investment. You can liken it to an innocent and toothless young lion. Now because it’s at this stage, you disregard it. It’d eventually grow to a matured lion and attack you and everything you have. The maturity date of this investment varies on how hard the enemy wants to hit you. Thus, it could be, and usually is, on the day of the manifestation of one’s glory. It could be at the dying minute of one’s promotion, on the day of your wedding, or at the time you’re supposed to be enjoying the fruit of your labour.”

“Hmmmm…..Okay Sir. I’d stop there. But I want to know what qualified my prayers to be answered.”

“I have such an inquisitive child!” Mr. Folawe said, causing Emma to smile.

“It’s a good thing na, I no fi miss road.” He responded as his dad smiled.

“You should know the answer to your question already. Your consistency…..I mean praying frequently, more like daily, your perservance…….praying without minding the fact that you weren’t noticing any suitable change, jealously guarding your hedges or walls of protection, and burning all possible ladders were what qualified your prayers to receive answers. Your faith too was a vital quality but I won’t much on it before we sleep here.” Dad said as Emma giggled.

“Okay dad.” Emma responded and with that Mr. Folawe headed for his room in preparation for the day’s work.

It’s been a while since Rose has been praying and asking for a fresh baptism of the Holy Spirit, but got no response.
She had rebuilt her prayer altar and frequently sacrificed her time, as Lilian suggested, but still nothing.
On seeing this, she decided to press further by embarking on a three days dry fast.

“Maybe if He looks at me and sees my sacrifice, He’d answer me out of mercy.” Rose thought to herself while lying drained of strength on the third day of her fast.

After her vigil the third night, she read a portion of the Bible and went to bed.

David has been taking his prayer life more seriously, as he desperately needed a change in his family.
He has been noticing that prayer wasn’t becoming a difficult task fir him any longer as whenever he was about rounding up a prayer point, the next one to pray automatically popped up in his heart.

He knew this was a sign of spiritual maturity and resolved in his heart to press further and not give up.

It was the fourth morning since Rose had taken neither food nor water, yet she didn’t make attempt to prepare something to break her fast with.

The dream she had the previous night obviously made her lose appetite for food.
In her dream, she saw a man dressed in white. She saw herself kneeling down and begging Him for mercy, but he paid no attention to her.

Instead, he tried everything possible to free himself from her grip; but she seemed too adamant and determined to get what she wanted from him. On seeing this, he looked upon her for the first time. While shaking his head in pity, he bent down as if to draw something on the ground.

“Ex. 34:1” He wrote boldly and thereafter left. It was at this point she woke up, and has ever since been trying to carve out meaningful message from the dream.

The message was just a verse so it was difficult to figure something out.
It read:
“And the LORD said to Moses, Hew thee two two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou breakest.”

“Wait……why don’t I start abit ahead?” She thought aloud as she flipped to the previous chapter while drinking water, as she was out of energy.
It was when she was done with the chapter that she understood.

God gave Moses the tablets of the Ten Commandments carved out and written by Himself but Moses allowed his weaknesses overwhelm him and he carelessly smashed it.

Based on what she knew and how her Pastor usually interprets Bible passages, she tried relating the passage to her life, to no avail.

“It’s really hard interpreting God’s word in a meaningful way, without the help of the Holy Spirit.” She lamented.

When she couldn’t make meaning out of what she had just read, she decided to read, she decided to read it later again in her vigil time after bringing the Presence of God down through praises.

“God inhabits the praises of his people; and since I’ve been forgiven and cleansed from my sins through the Blood of Jesus, He’d come down when I praise Him from his heart. Then I’d read again when my His Presence must’ve filled my room.” She planned within as she finally got up to make something for herself.

Mbakwe had finally found a perfect replacement for his son. However, he was patient enough to wait for a specific time and date – a time he knew spiritual activities were reinforced by the higher powers in the group he belonged.

He has been waiting for about a month now, and the set day was near.

“At midnight, I’d strike.”

“Lord God, I know you’re here and you can hear me- I can feel your presence as I’m praying already. Thank you for honoring me and accepting my sacrifice of Praise this morning. Now Lord I ask that in your infinite mercy you explain the passage you gave to me through your servant in my dream. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.” She prayed simply in pants and sweats after a one hour session of Praise and worship via the help of gospel music on her phone, and the songs she had known since childhood.

“Just like Moses, you were given the baptism of the Holy Spirit on a platter of gold- you dint neesarily have to fast and pray for it before it manifested in you life, with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

But you carelessly lost it through your weaknesses simply because of the dictates of a mere human which you allowed to negatively influence you.
Now, you’re going to purposely work to get what you want back, like Moses had to hew stones himself before God re-wrote the commandments.” The interpretation hit her clearly as she read and flipped through various versions of the passage.

When she got the message clearly, she had her head bowed.

“Who am I lord, that you are so mindful of me? I’m grateful for this second chance. It is good that O’d work for this second chance, as it is difficult to carelessly lose something you sweated to get.”

“It is time” Mbakwe said as he arose from where he was fortifying himself, went over to his special mirror and began chanting incantations to summon the spirit of his target.
His target’s spirit appeared, but turned his back against him.
On seeing this, he shook in fear, knowing what that meant.

“When you attempt summoning a target’s spirit and it faces you, it means such a one can be attacked without little or no resistance. But when the spirit backs you in a way the face isn’t seen, you’ve met your waterloo; because such a person has a greater force backing him up and such force would retaliate to harm you violently.” He vividly recalled his teacher say on the day he accessed more powers.

“I’m in trouble.” Mbakwe muttered to himself.
Just then, a heavenly being appeared on his mirror, with an angry and fierce looking countenance and eyes on fire.

“I’m really in trouble.” He muttered once more, forcing himself to bow in defeat and pay obeisance to the being.
