CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40

Episode 38

“The person, whose spirit you’re attempting to summon, is greater than you are.” The heavenly being which appeared at Mazi’s mirror said.

“Your cup is full, Mazi Okoro Mbakwe. You’d face the wrath of your creator.” The heavenly being said and immediately Mazi lost his balance painful manner that he screamed in his shrine and passed out.

“Congratulations, your prayers have been answered.” Kingsley heared in his dream as he kept toiling tirelessly on a farm.

“What do you mean?” Kingsley asked the voice, even though he didn’t know where it was coming from.

“The target soul you’ve been interceding for, is ripe and ready for harvest.” It responded, and Kingsley woke up at this point.

CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40

The D-day is here! It’s a moment of celebration and great joy for Lilian and her family. It was also very busy time for Rose who was trying to get all things done before time.

“Is the make-up artist here already?” Rose said as she barged into the bride-to-be’s room,

“Geez…babe you really need to relax your nerves. We haven’t even taken pictures for the bridal shower yet.” Lilian said in giggles.

“What are you saying? Aren’t you gonna wear some make-up before taking pictures.

“On the wedding day, not now.” Lilian responded as the rest of the bridal train walked in with their silky uniform.

“The cameraman is here already.” One of the girls who just walked in, announced.
After taking pictures and having fun-time together, the bride was left to be alone with her friend

“Babe you remember the night we drafted out, and set the time we wanted to get married, right?” Rose said as the two jolly friends laid facing the ceiling.

“Yeah…I remember soooo well.” Lilian said with a dreamy smile.

“And this is the year we set for ourselves.”

“Yeah, I remember that.”

“And….”

“Babe it’s enough. Enough of the memories okay, I know where you’re driving at.” Lilian said in a low tone as she sat up.

“Where was I driving at?”

“Babe I know you very well. You feel very bad about yourself when you set goals with your friends and you’re the only one not able to achieve them. It makes you sulk in yourself and you start comparing yourself with others unnecessarily.” Lilian said as Rose bowed her head. She knew she was telling the truth.

“Sweetheart failure doesn’t define you, you define failure. You’re in charge of deciding if a particular failure would make you go down or to your next level. Most times, it’s when we have a taste of the negative energy called failure, that we have a re-think and re-strategize; because we have more knowledge that we step we took earlier wouldn’t bring the desired results.

At least, now you know there’s no need taking advice from someone who doesn’t share the same spiritual values with you.” Lilian said as she stooped before her friend.

“I’ve failed.” Rose muttered.

“No, you learnt the method of keeping the wrong association when you have a solid goal is a wrong idea.”

“I shouldn’t even have set that marital goal in the first place.”

“When a common man fails at something, he feels he shouldn’t have started in the first place. But when a wise man fails, he sees other methods would’ve approached his goals and succeeded, and gets to work.” Lilian said as Rose forced a smile. She has such a motivational speaker as a friend.

“I failed too academically, remember? I had a carry-over and repeated the same level I had always been afraid of because of the rumors I heard about it. That was how we met. Or have you forgotten?”

“How can I forget?” Rose said in giggles.

“Seriously, I couldn’t believe you carried over a course that simple. I mean, there were different methods you could read the course and pass without stress.” She said further.

“You see? Different methods. You’ve use one method and failed, you should try another. Quitters never win, and winners never quit.” Lilian said with a tone of finality, seeing the face of her friend was brightened already.

“Thanks dear. I’d always remember that. It’s just over-whelming because I never thought I could fall. I thought I was…..so strong.”

“It’s why you’re not to trust yourself too much….the Holy Spirit deserves that trust and not you.”

“Hmmm….I understand better now.”

The reception of Lilian’s wedding was a blast. I mean you wouldn’t expect less – her parents and that of the groom were wealthy to some point.
Everything you could ever imagine about a wedding reception was available- ranging from food to gifts, souvenir and what have you.
Rose wasn’t busy as before as the show was almost over. She was enjoy the little party when a guy approached her.

“Hello pretty.” He greeted with a smile which she returned.

“Hi.” She said, and thereafter focused on her phone.

“I’m Ken.”

“Nice to meet you, Ken. Rose is my name.”

“Wow…..a nice name you have there.”

“Thanks.” She responded as she sensed him thinking of what else to say, to keep the conversation going.

“So are you here for the bride or groom?”

“Oh I came for my friend, the bride.”

“Oh wow.”

“Yeah. Sorry, I have to leave now.”

“Oh no problem, so long you do me the favour of giving me your number.” He said with a smile as Rose obliged.

“Thank you, this means a lot to me.”

“You’re welcome.” She replied and with that, went her way.

Kingsley was still thinking about his dream in his room when his mom called.

“Hello Mama.”

“Kingsley nwa m (K my son), how have you been all these while?”

“I’ve been fine Ma. How’s everyone at home?”

“We’re okay my son. We thank God; he’s been working in our lives and your dad’s too.”

“Okay Ma. Any news?”

“Lol…as if you knew the reason I called. I just called to inform you of the recent happenings over here.”

“Okay.”

“Mazi Mbakwe is in the hospital o.”

“The same person we know or another one.”

“The same person o nwa. I was even surprised myself when I heard the news.” Mama said. Just then, Kingsley recalled his dreams- both that of the branch threatening to break off from its tree because it seemed to be stronger than it, and the recent dream with a congratulatory message.

“The intercessory prayer was for Mazi Mbakwe? Really?” K thought to himself.

“Hello? Can you hear me?” Mama said, jerking him out of his thoughts.

“Yes Mama, I can hear you. But what happened exactly?”

“I don’t know too o. The villager that informed me said some of his apprentice went to check on him in his shrine since he hadn’t come out all through the morning, only to find him lying unconscious.”

“Okay, so which hospital was he admitted to?”

“See Kingsley that’s not the problem now.”

“Problem? What problem? Is he dead?”

“No. He asked to see you.”

“To see me? Why? What for?”

“I don’t know. He called me and asked to see you. Or….wait. Was it your prayers that landed him into that condition?”

“I don’t know, I’m not sure. I mean I’ve never sat down to pray, having him in mind.”

“Hmmm…so why does he want to see you?”

“I’m as confused as you are Mama. But what’s dad saying to all these?”

“He’s indifferent about the matter. He said for him to ask of you immediately he regained consciousness means his attack has something to do with you.”

“Ehn ehn”

“So are you coming?”

“I should, since the place isn’t far from home.” He responded. They talked about family and other areas of their lives before ending the call.

“I’d have to pray about it before thinking of going anywhere.” He soliloquized while thinking of the matter because deep down, he had a tint of both disappointment and doubt that it had been Mazi Mbakwe he had been interceding for all these while.

“Babe I saw you chitchatting with that Ken guy, but was too busy to watch the episode to the end.” Lilian said over the phone in a video call, changing the subject of the honeymoon they were discussing.

“Ohh…you know him?” Rose said in giggles.

“Of course yes, I do. He was my husband’s best man.”

“Oh really? Didn’t notice.”

“Sure, you were a busy bee.” She responded as they both laughed.

“Okay so tell me. What happened?”

“Nothing much. He asked for my number, that’s all.”

“Okay…so?”

“So what? You already told me to take a break and focus remember?”

“Well, I can’t remember saying that exactly, but you know I can’t force you to accept my own view. So I wanna hear yours.”

“Well, I’ve learnt my lessons. I failed and disappointed God, myself and you once, and I’m not gonna do that again. Right now, building and maintaining a strong relationship with God is what matters the most.”

“Awwwwn….so sweet to hear that from my Rosy darling. She’s back to her determined self.” Lilian cooed as Rose gave a smile.

“Because I’m connected, and associating myself with the right people who share the same spiritual values with me.” Rose said as they gave each other a knowing smile.

“Okay, family calls.” Lilian said as they heard a manly voice from the background.

“Nah….you can’t oppress me with that. I’d have mine soon you know, I just have to wait a little longer. Marriage is my biggest desire now, but I won’t let the devil have the chance of using it as an object of temptation for me.” Rose said as Lilian gave a satisfactory smile. Her husband came around in the course of the call to greet, afterwhich they said their goodbyes.

Immediately they hung up, Ken’s call came in, though she didn’t know it was him.

“Hello”

“Hi….it’s Ken”

“Ken from?”

“Your friend’s wedding, remember?”

“Oh yeah. Good evening.”

“Evening. How’s your day going?”

“It’s going well, thank you” She responded as officially as possible.

“Good to hear. I was wondering if we could see during the weekend, probably in the evening. Is that okay by you?”

“Errr…….my schedule is somewhat tight.”

“Ohh…..okay, when would you be free then?”

“I don’t know. My monthly schedule is so tight to squeeze time for hangouts.”

“Oh I see. Okay then, we’d talk later.”

“Okay, bye.” She said and dropped the call.

“I guess he sensed I wasn’t interested.” She soliloquized.

“Lord please, I’d push all guys away and patiently wait because I’m relying on you for the best. But please let it not be too long, I really want to get married as soon as possible.”

Mbakwe woke up to find himself on the hospital bed.

“I haven’t been discharged yet? How I disgust hospitals!” He groaned within as he tried sitting up, but was pulled back with a sharp head pain, making him writhe in pain.

“I’d just lie down.” He concluded as he rested his head. Having nothing doing, he began to recall what happened in his shrine that landed him here.

CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40
Mazi’s POV
I still can’t believe I crossed my boundaries and targeted the child of the supreme one; now look where it has landed me. That’s not even the problem.

I’ve been given three days to repent and return to him, or else death hangs around. The only person I can think of for help is Kingsley, and I’ve sent for him but there has been no reply.

The worst is this is day 2; I have one day left after today.

“But God, Mazi Mbakwe is the most powerful herbalist in my hometown. That means he has destroyed lots of lives; he even almost destroyed mine, if not for your grace and power.” K objected in prayers, still in great doubt that he was asked to use at least 2hours of his time each day, interceding for the very man responsible for his former hard life.

“God knew you wouldn’t pray if He told you who you were interceding for.” A voice within said.

“But me not praying for that kind of man is humanly reasonable.”

“You’re right, it’s humanly reasonable. But spiritually it isn’t. That man’s salvation would open doors to so many people’s deliverance. The enemy saw this, and took advantage of it; thus making him have an impact in his generation, but in the negative and destructive way. That explains how he has been able to single-handedly destroy lots of lives- his destiny was diverted.

Don’t let unforgiveness and bitterness at heart blind you, Kingsley; your very own breakthrough and next level is attached to the salvation of this same soul.”

“Imposible!” Kingsley retorted in disbelief.
