“With all due respect Sir, I honestly do not understand what you’re talking about.” Emmanuel said for the umpteenth time, though in a very cool manner.
When Mazi saw his conversation with him wouldn’t yield any wanted results, he walked away angrily.
“Okay what just happened few moments ago?” Emma thought to himself as soon as he got to his place of work.
“How possible is it that a young child at that age possesses a power that surpasses mine?
What the probability of truth that he doesn’t even know what I’m talking about?” Mazi thought to himself as he ruminated over his failed plans, and what had just happened.
“I must work till I get to the Apex hierarchy of this group I belong.
I must work tirelessly to possess the power that surpasses all powers.” He thought conclusively.
“You’re Frank, right?” A huge dark complexioned man asked as he swung left and right on his executive chair.
“Yes Sir. Frank Mbakwe Sir.” He responded. He had earlier received a call that day, where he was summoned by a well known man in the town he resided.
Although he didn’t know the man asking to meet him (except for public knowledge), he had no choice as the purpose was to help him out of his situation, as stated in the letter.
“You may not know me, and I obviously do not know you too; but I strongly believe we have a mutual friend, who of course I believe is more than a friend to us both.” He said as Frank tried to hide his confused state.
“You’re Mazi Mbakwe’s son, aren’t you? The son of the most powerful native doctor of your town.” He said as Frank replied with a knowing smile.
“Finally! The help dad promise me has arrived.” He thought within as he responded positively.
“I’m Mr. Edwards, the owner of this well-known company.”
“Ohh… Nice to meet you Sir. I’m Frank Mbakwe.”
“Yeah obviously. Your father called me not long ago and informed me you needed help with basic needs. Am I correct, please?”
“Yes, you are very correct Sir.” He responded as he observed the man speaking with him.
He noticed he was not just huge, but also spoke sternly and with so much authority.
“Well, I don’t have any accommodation available at the moment and the hotels I’m in charge of are filled up, but I’d order someone to accommodate you. He lives with his wife and two children in a 4 bedroom bungalow.
You should be able to stay there for about a week before I get you your own free apartment, right?” He said, looking at him for the first time as Frank nodded.
“Before nko? It’s better than the self-contained apartment I’m residing in” He thought to himself as he responded positively.
“I sincerely apologise if it’s going to be inconvenient for you. It’s just that I can’t disobey your father because he’s the stronghold behind this seat I’m occupying; I’m just the figure head here, so I had to act fast because he sounded urgent.” He explained as Frank seemed not to have a problem with anything he was saying because to him, it was waaaaay better than where he was, starving with his family.
“In a minute, he’d be here.” He said as he dropped his phone and in a twinkle of an eye, there was a knock on the door.
“You sent for me, Sir.” A fairly young man who walked in, said.
“Yes err….let’s begin with a proper introduction. Desmond this is Frank, an important personality; Frank this is Desmond, one of my beneficiaries.” He said as the two men exchanged pleasantries.
“Please take him to your apartment. He’d be living with you for a while until the money I’m expecting drops in to get him a hotel to stay, preferably an accommodation.
I hope you wouldn’t mind.”
“Ahah Oga. Mind ke? I don’t o. After all, you’re the one taking care of me so your wish is my command.” He responded happily.
As soon as Mr. Edward gave him further instructions, he left with Frank.
It was already evening and Desmond drove down to his house with his new friend, Frank.
He seemed to have liked him at first sight and they are already flowing well in few minutes of knowing each other for the first time.
“We’re here.” He said as he parked in the garage of a normal sized compound, but well decorated.
Desmond initially expected comments like “wow” from his friend but didn’t get any and didn’t know why, as the place was irresistibly beautiful.
“Are your kids home?”
“Sure! You’d get to meet them soon.” He said with a smile as they knocked on the door which opened of its own accord, as it was unlocked already.
“Welcome daddy.” A little boy, whom Frank assumed to be his son, appeared from the back of the door in childish smiles.
“That’s my boy. You opened the door?” He asked as he lifted him up.
“Yes!” He responded with so much excitement.
“Wooow….you’ve grown so fast o.” He teased as he giggled.
“Your son I guess.” Frank said as the little boy ran off to call his mom.
“Yes. You’d see the rest of the family soon.” He said as his wife and daughter who were in the kitchen, came to greet.
However, Frank noticed he was warmly welcome by everyone except the girl.
“I don’t like him.” Were her exactly words when her dad on noticing her behavior openly asked her what the problem was.
“What do you mean you don’t like him? Has he done anything wrong to you before? You’re just meeting him for the first time so what’s with you?” Her dad scolded as he kept quiet and just stared.
“There’s something about this man I just don’t like.” She thought.
