CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40

Episode 28.

“JESUS!!!!” Favour shouted out of her sleep as she held her chest, frightened by what she had just seen.

“What was that I just saw? What does it even mean?” She reasoned.

“Does Mr. Frank stink? Or is it that there’s something about him that makes him stink?” She soliloquized quietly, trying to vividly recall her dream.

“Geez…..I can’t believe I’ve forgotten the dream so fast! What do I do now? What’s the next step to take?” She asked herself as she got up to say a word of prayer

“Mom you remember Favour? The one that was disrespectful to you one time when you came to visit me in school?” David said in excitement as he followed her to her shop in the market that Saturday morning, after they had their family devotion.

“Yes I do remember her. What happened to her?”

“She’s changed mom; she ain’t the girl we know anymore.” David said as mom just stared at him.

“Okay? So why you over excited about the whole thing?” She asked on noticing his tone and all.

“Mom, if someone like her could change, the probability of our situation changing is very high!” He said as his mom sighed.

“David you’re at it again.”

“But mom, my instincts tell me we’re wrongly placed. We are supposed to be wealthy and not poverty stricken. Jesus died poor, that we may be rich, mom. I strongly believe our wealth is hidden somewhere, we just haven’t accessed the key yet. I just have this feeling that…….”

“David we’re here already. Go in and prepare the goods for our customers and stop creating empty imaginations in your head.” Mrs. Ifebueme said sternly as David obeyed, downcast.

“I know what I’m saying.” He murmured.

Emmanuel sat beside his mother, confused on how to pray for her.

He suddenly remembered Kingsley and how he taught him to pray.

He remembered he said something about the soul and dark market.

“Wherever my mom’s soul has been sold, Blood of Jesus, buy it back, in the name of Jesus.” He prayed as it was formed in his heart.

Slowly, he began praying more firmly and aggressively, as fear and nervousness began to fade away.

Unknown to him, his dad stood at the door watching him.

“If you can bring the love of my life back to this world, I’d follow the God you serve and dump this group I was literally forced into.” His dad said within and thereafter left silently.

It was the cool of the evening and Favour decided to go to the veranda to cool off, as all her thoughts all had been about the dream she had earlier on.

“The dream is very revelational……” She soliloquized as she settled down.

“What dream?” She heard someone say beside her. She immediately freaked out on finding out who it was.

She had wanted to react harshly but cautioned herself.

“Good….. good evening Sir.” She greeted with a slight bow as he reciprocated with a smile.

“Wow….you’re being nice today. How are you doing?”

“I’m fine, thank you Sir.” She immediately said as she sharply stood up to leave.

“Where are you going?” He asked as she quickly searched for an excuse in her heart to say.

“Ehmmmm……I want to….I want to…..” Were all escaping her lips, as words betrayed her.

“Come on! We both know you’re looking for an excuse. Come, come closer.” He beckoned, beaming with smiles.

“Heii….this is trouble.” She screamed within as she thought of ways to hold her breathe.

She resorted to seizing her breathe for a while, with hope the conversation won’t be long.

“So let me get to know you a little. You’re in senior secondary school, right?” He asked as she did nothing but nod sharply.

“Okay…..so you have friends?”

She nods.

“How many of them?”

She responds with her fingers.

“Okay so what are their names?”

At this point, she couldn’t breathe anymore so she did something dramatic…..she ran off.

“Okay, what just happened?” She could hear him say from afar.

“Jesus…..Jesus……Jesus….” She said, trying to catch her breathe as soon as she got to her room.

“I didn’t know if I perceived anything o, but as he was just speaking ehn I just remembered the dream so vividly that I imagined how strong the smell was in the dream……heiii…..God!” She soliloquized as she kept gasping for breathe.

In a nutshell, she rushed for her jotter.

“Let me write the dream now I’ve remembered it.” She said as she grabbed a pen on her desk..

Favour’s Jotter

I remember perceiving a strong odour, and as I was wondering where it was coming from, I traced it to Mr. Frank’s room.

On peeping to see what was going on, I saw a very dark and highly stinking invisible creature (but I could see it, don’t know how) around him.

I could see my daddy’s friend moving in the room and this creature followed him wherever he went.

It was then I screamed JESUS out o my sleep.

End of Favour’s jottings

“Now I’ve remembered the dream, how do I pray? who do I tell?
Worse still, who would listen to, and believe me? Lord, I need your help.” She thought as she said few words of prayer.

It was nightfall and David could be seen staring into space at the veranda.

He was so lost in thoughts that he didn’t notice his mom walk in.

“David!” She called for the umpteenth time before he jerked out of his thoughts.

“I’m sorry Ma, I didn’t hear you call before.” He said as she shook her head.

“Dearest what are you thinking of? You’ve been here for a while now and you see very deep in thoughts, at your age.
Tell me, what’s bothering you?”

“Mom, I still have this feeling we’re wrongly placed.
Like…….. we’re meant to be rich and not poverty stricken people.” He said quietly as Mrs. Ifebueme sighed.

“You’ve been saying this for the past three months, David.”

“Because I know it’s true mom. My spirit tells me so.”

“Well, I do not know where the wealth is going to come from.
In your dad’s side, everyone feeds from hand to mouth and in my side, there was only one of us that was well to do and could feed all of us, but she’s gone now.

So tell me, where exactly is this wealth you always talk about going to come from?” She asked as David sighed and maintained silence.

“And David, to be very honest with you, we’re not ‘poverty stricken’, as you call it. The fact that we are not wealthy doesn’t mean we don’t eat.

We do eat and are satisfied, so I don’t understand why you always say what you say.”

“I apologise for that, mom.”

“It’s okay. Let me go meet your father now, so we can sleep.” She said as she made to take her leave but stopped in her tracks.

“Ehmmm David, if you still have this strong feeling of yours, you can pray about it.
But if you ask me, it makes no sense because I don’t know where help would come from.” She said and thereafter left her son in his thoughts.

“Why didn’t I even think of it? Yes!!! I should pray about it more often than not these days.” He soliloquized as he left for his room as well.

Mazi. Mbakwe could be seen pacing up and down his living room.

For almost a week now, he couldn’t carry out his evil plans against the Nwankwos.

The mere fact that a boy he could give birth to three times was stronger than him spiritually speaking broke his confidence to make any damage to not just the Nwankwos, but to everyone as well.

“It just isn’t possible. How can it be? How can he manifest spiritual strength at that age?” He kept thinking to and asking himself himself. Just then, an idea clicked in his heart.

“I’d go back and acquire more powers. I must be all powerful.” He resolved in his heart.
