“What? What’s this? What’s happening?” Hamen asked no one in particular, as a thin line of fear could be visibly seen on his face.
“No, it can’t be. No!!!” He said with a raised tone as he saw his attack backfire, leaving him unconscious.
Mbakwe suddenly felt some sort of ease in his spirit. He smile broadly, knowing what that meant.
“He’s down. The mighty has fallen.”
Favour was unusually happy throughout the day at school.
“I don’t know, it feels like my prayers have been answered or something. I’m just happy.” She told her friends, when asked the cause of her happiness.
When Rachel saw all efforts to make her husband open up to her had failed, she decided not to bother him on the issue again, but on one condition.
“So George I’ve decided to not bother you again concerning what you’re forever thinking about.” She said to him one day as they had their lunch.
George said nothing but patiently waited for her to finish.
“But on one condition…..”
“Okay? Which is?”
“We’d pray about the issue… together.” She said to his utmost surprise.
“I don’t understand.”
“What is there to be confused about? Since you can’t handle it and I obviously can’t as well, then it’s best to give it up to God and rest from trying to sort it out ourselves.” She said as George stared at her for a while.
“What? Have I said something wrong?”
“No no no, it’s just that…..”
“Just that what?”
“I can’t remember the last time we had a problem or an issue and you brought ‘praying about it’ as a solution.
I must confess, you’re changing these days….for good though.” He said as she smiled a little.
“I see you pray more often these days when I wake up in the middle of the night; you read your Bible during your free periods; you’ve even began a personal devotion!
I look at all these and smile because I know soon it’d reflect in our lives and things would get better.”
“Well, I don’t know what to say but I’ve come to realize I need God in my life more than ever, if I want to have a life and family of my dreams.” She said as her nodded.
“So you agree we’d pray together?”
“Yeah sure.” He said with smiles.
“At least when she gets really spiritual, I’d be able to tell her everything and she’d forgive me easily.” He thought to himself.
“Jesus.” Vivian shouted from her sleep one evening while observing her siesta.
“What is it?” Cindy who quietly laid not too far from her, asked.
“I just…..I just had….. Jesus. Could it be true?”
“Could what be true? Vivian say something comprehensive na, you’re really scaring me.”
“I just had a terrible dream.”
“Okay? So what was it about?”
“Uhmm…. nevermind, nevermind.”
“Hmmmm……why you secretive like this? You just woke me up from my sleep and what I get is a nevermind? You’re a funny individual.” Cindy said but Vivian was absent-minded.
“Anyway, if it’s really terrible, just pray about it and cancel the negative effects of the dream.” She said conclusively, not wanting to push things further.
“Yeah, thanks.”
