CHEATED SEASON 2 : EPISODE 1 – 20

SEASON 2 EPISODE 3

“This waiting period of a thing isn’t completely an easy task. I’ve been single for a reasonable while now and I feel all lonely and inadequate.” Rose thought to herself one night as she counted the ceiling of her room, since NEPA had refused to supply electricity to their area.

“Are you sure I wouldn’t go back to my vomit like this? God, this is to hard!” She said on ignoring Ken’s call.

“I’m so used to having some guy around who’d show some care, attention, love and…..” She had wanted to grumble but stopped and sighed.

“Well, this is the price I have to pay, I’d I really want to be in good terms with my maker once again.” She said with a sigh, recalling the instruction she received while reading her Bible one day.

“Lord, it is your word I’m holding onto, and I believe I won’t be disappointed.” She said as she glanced through 2 Cor. 6:17, the passage she was given.

“I’m so glad you’re back in your feet once again, mom.” Emma said, lovingly squeezing his mom’s hand with a smile.

“I’m not yet on my feet dear. The doctor recommended I rest a bit more.”

“It doesn’t matter mom. Hearing you speaking and respond alone gives me joy that knows no bounds.” Emma responded and at that time, Angela walked in.

“I’ve made you breakfast mom, as requested.” She said as she approached her bed with her breakfast placed appealingly in a tray.

” Thank you so much, sweetheart.” Mrs. Rachel Folawe said as she received it.

“What of dad? He left quite early?” Angela asked as her mom nodded.

“Yeah. He said the workload waiting for him today is cumbersome.”

“Hmmm…that’s normal for Mondays. Daddy can work sha……anyway, we’d like to be going now, we’ll see you when we’re back.” Angela said on checking the time.

“Speak for yourself, please. Who are the ‘we’?” Emma asked.

“Aren’t you going to work again?”

“I’d go much later. Wanna spend a little more time with Mom.” Emma said.

“So you’d be leaving for work by what time? 8am? I’ve told Daddy you should be employed elsewhere, just not in his company. That way, you’d learn that punctuality is the soul of business and adjust this non-chalant lifestyle of yours.” Angie said as Rachel silently watched her kids argue.

“How I’ve missed my children. They haven’t changed one bit.” She thought to herself in smiles.

“Abi mummy what do you think?” Angela asked, bringing her our of her thoughts.

“Angela is right, dear. You shouldn’t be taking things for granted because they were given to you on a platter of gold. Imagine all employees in your dad’s company behave like you, the whole business would crash. Or don’t you think so?”

“Yeah but I’m not…..” Emma want to defend but Mrs. Rachel but in.

“You’re a leader, dear- at least the son of one. So lead by example.”

“Exactly! Case closed. You’re leaving this house with me this minute.” Angie said as Emma reluctantly obliged.

“We’d be back home soon mom, I promise.” Emma said as the duo pecked and hugged their mom before leaving.

“I’ve really missed living.”

Despite the fact it was a Monday morning, Mrs. Desmond had refused to go to work. She had been given a second time to right her wrongs and she hadn’t wanted to mess up.

She had prepare breakfast for her family, and gotten them ready for the day’s work.

“But babe, there’s still no reasonable excuse as to why you don’t want to go to work this morning. Please tell me why exactly is going on.” He asked as it was so unusual to skip work, being a workaholic.

“I just felt a nudge in my spirit to say around and attend to the spiritual needs of the family for now.” She said, driving her husband to thoughts.

“What spiritual needs? Is something wrong?” He asked calmly.

“I don’t know, but I think so.” She said and at this point, narrated everything to him.

“Okay fine, but please you have to do things the right way.
You don’t just decide to stop work all of a sudden to pray for your family, then get back to work and expect everything to be alright.” Her husband advised.

“Hmmm….well that’s true. So what do you suggest I do?”

“Take a pass or something. If that wouldn’t give you enough time, take a leave. That’d be better than just absenting yourself from work.” He suggested as she thought about it.

“Okay, but what would be my excuse?”

“That your family needs your attention before things get out of hand, and that’s the wholesome truth. Alot of things are going on in this house that no one seems to understand.
Worse still, they all started when I brought a total stranger in this house on my boss’ order.
Maybe if we had been prayerful, we would’ve taken a wiser decision by keeping him in the boy’s quarter and feed him from there.

Now his wife has disappeared with no trace and to me, I feel he isn’t telling us the truth so.no one can tell what happened.

Our family altar too has been destroyed and there’s no insight from anywhere on what would likely happen so we can avert or claim them in prayers.
We’re basically working in the dark like we have no father, when there are privileges at the tips of our fingers left for us to access, claim and enjoy.

Your family really needs your attention dear, honestly.” He said as she heaved a sigh.

“Moreso, I need you too” He said as he softly squeezed her hands, causing her to smile.

“Hmmm…okay, let me go dress up and do this the right way. I hope it’s not too later already.”

“You have about 45mins left, so it’s not.” He responded as she headed for her wardrobe.

“Hello? Yes please. Direct Mrs. Desmond to my office immediately.” He said over the phone to his secretary. Mr. Williams came to his office that morning to be greeted by a letter requesting for leave, by Mrs. Desmond.

This made him both furious and confused, but decided to be suppress his emotions and query her actions instead.

“You called for me, Sir.” Mrs. Desmond said as she walked in.

“Yes, come in please, and have your seat.”

“Thank you Sir.” She said as she obliged.

“Yes uhmm…I saw you dropped a letter for me with my secretary this morning.”

“True Sir; requesting for a leave.”

“But you haven’t done that before. Is anything the problem?”

“It’s something I can handle Sir. My family needs my attention.”

“But that can’t be later? I mean you’re aware we’re about taking an official trip and you’re one of the Representatives.” He said diplomatically, wanting to act concerned.

“Yes Sir, but someone else can be chosen in my steady. Family comes first before any other thing Sir.”

“But it’s you we want, not any other person. Besides, you’d be meeting top authorities from international companies and that’d be a plus to your career. So why do you want to throw away this juicy and hard-to-get opportunity for something that can possibly be handled later as soon as you return? I respect the way your priorities are ranked, don’t get me wrong; but I just feel sometimes sacrifices have to be made.” Mr. Williams said, hoping to change her mind.
His plan seemed to be working as Mrs. Desmond seemed lost in thoughts.

“This could be a plus to my career; a great opportunity to meet important personalities.” She thought to herself.

“Like I said earlier Sir, my family is my topmost priority. Every other thing comes after that, Sir.” She finally said to the disappointment of Mr. Williams who wore an expressionless face.

“Okay, okay. Let it not look like I’m compelling you to do something against your will.” He said as he raised his hands up in surrender.

“Your request has been granted. Your leave takes effect from tomorrow. Is that okay?” He asked his staff who was already in smiles.

“Yes, thank you Sir.” She said and with that, was dismissed.

“Sht!” Mr. Williams banged his desk with his fist in anger.

“Ever since this woman has been promoted to being a member of the management team, she’s been a thorn in my flesh.” He thought o himself.

Though he was very diplomatic in speaking with her, he was enraged on the inside.
For quite a while now, Mr. Williams and his cohorts have been devising ways to get Mrs. Desmond to be on their side, but she wouldn’t budge.

Each and everyone of them constantly endulged in fraudulent practices and made sure each member of the management team was on their side and a part of their vice to avoid being exposed; but Mrs. Desmond was a thick bone in their neck.

“I’m a Christian Sir, and the God I serve would be disappointed in me of I engage in such act.” She would always say.

They then decided to let her be, while devising a wicked plan to get her fired by the international headquarters.

After much thinking and strategic planning, they came up with a feigned official trip, making sure they were juicy opportunities attached to it, to be used as bait.

“She has just disrupted our plans!”

Mrs. Desmond returned to her office full of regrets. She still.couod fathom the fact she just turned down an opportunity that could boost her career forever!

“I just did a crazy thing out there. I mean, what sort of a human would be crazy enough to turn down an opportunity that could change one’s life forever?” She thought in regrets.

“My thoughts are not your thoughts; neither are my ways your ways.” She tried to remind herself, but worked only for a short moment.

“This is hard Lord, this is seriously hard.”

Most times, we don’t really know what God is saving us from.
