CHEATED SEASON 2 : EPISODE 21 – THE END

SEASON 2 EPISODE 26

“Sir Richard is a relative to the owner of this company.” Alice explained the next working day they met.

“Well, that’s not too surprising but……. What did he do that got him fired?” He enquired

“He wasn’t fired, he still works here.
He was only demoted. Infact, he’s directly under you.

“Really? Wow.” He said and thought for a while.
He couldn’t believe he was now a superior to the one that once rejected him.
“Tables do turn!” He thought.

“Okay but….what exactly did he do to get demoted and replaced? I mean, I could learn from his mistakes you know, and tread carefully.” K asked further, while placing a solid reason for his questions so she wouldn’t feel uncomfortable to answer him.

“Well Sir, it was discovered that he has been involved in the looting of money for quite a while now, when the company carried out an investigative search.”

“Looting of money? But he’s stinkingly rich from what I know, so what exactly happened? I don’t understand this.”

“Wait, you know him?” Alice asked

“Well, yes. We were classmates in Secondary School.”

“Oh wow…hmmm. Well, the company had just reformed their policy, retrenched lots of employees, demoted anyone with past records of engagements in fraudulent practices.

The ones retrenched had a history of money looting and other vices to their names, dating way back to five years ago. The ones engaged in the act for about 2-3years back were till retained, but demoted.

Though Sir Richard’s records were worse than them all, he was merely demoted a level below his position, considering the fact he was a blood relative.

It was at that time the company went in search for new employers to replace the honest ones, and you seem to be the best replacement for him.” Alice explained, in details this time.

“Oh, I understand now. So there are new sets of employees here, I’m not the only one.”

“Exactly Sir. These sets were carefully picked, as honest individuals were needed.”

“Hmmmm…..wow. Okay, I understand now, thank you for explaining patiently.”

“What is that Jesus brat doing here?” Richard thought aloud in his office as he hit his fist against his desk in anger.
He had just bumped into Alice and Kingsley on his way to the office this morning, but had himself hidden before they noticed him.

He was shocked to see K around the premises and from the looked of things, he wasn’t a visitor.

“Wait…. Alice…. Did he….no….no, it’s not possible.” He said underneath his breath as he thought of what business he’d be having with his former secretary, and in a higher floor where only the top employers could be found.

“Are they dating? No, K isn’t that kinda person. Or is he……damn, I don’t seem to understand this.” He said, rubbing his hair roughly.

“Or did he replace me? Damn it!” He said again and one hit on his desk scattered alot of files which he grudgingly put together.

He wasn’t used to this kinda life- having so many new files to attend to every blessed day, and getting exhausted before the day’s end; as opposed to just sitting around and him looking into files with special cases.
This was really a demotion for him.

“But how? I remember carefully tucking his file away from everyone to reduce his chances of working in this particular place so…….dmn, this is really mysterious.

I’m sure that brat is gonna start torturing me once he knows the story behind my being demoted.” He thought to himself as he thought of what to do.

“No, I refuse to be intimidated. Never!”

“What’s this?” Vivian said with a gasp, not wanting to believe her eyes.

“I don’t understand. How is this meant to be my result?” She asked no one in particular. She had great doubt she could fail any of her courses, but her result stated she had failed two.

“But these weren’t difficult, so how did this result come to be?”

“Babe, what is the matter?” Cindy asked on seeing her soliloquizing.

“Me too I don’t know o. My result is saying I just failed two compulsory courses. Could that even be possible? Omo, there has to be a mistake somewhere.” She said as she laughed a little to ease her tension. This was too hard for her to believe.

“Ah ah, no now. There truly is a mistake somewhere. I mean there’s no way you could carry these over.” Cindy commented when she had a look.

“Or wait….okay, thank God. You didn’t carry them over. You had a D in both.” She said on checking properly.

“Well, it’s the same thing as failing a course. And not just any course, failing two simple courses. I mean, who on Earth does that?” Vivian said but Cindy who was occupied with checking her own results, gave no response.

“But God why? Why this? I just started getting serious with you again and now this? What really is happening?” Cindy heard Vivian say and hushed her immediately.

“Come on keep quiet. Oh, so you’re now blaming God for a human mistake? It’s obvious an error occured somewhere in the recordings and it’d be rectified soon. No drag God matter into this one abeg. This is common here, you know.”

“Even if it’s common, must it happen to me?”

“I thought the Bible said all things work together for good to them that love the Lord, so where is your faith in that passage?” Cindy asked as Vivian surprisingly snapped.

“Oh so you mean now that I don’t read my Bible well, or what are you incinuating? Or that I don’t have enough faith or I’m too carnal or what exactly do you mean by what you just said?”

“Babe chill now. What have I said now to get you pissed?”

“The fact that you quoted the scripture to me in this situation is enough to get me pissed.

The fact that I’m trying to fix my relationship with God and get this discouraging grade is more than enough t get me pissed.

Who know, if I had used my prayer time to read harder, my results wouldn’t have ended up this way.

No just look at it, now my GO is going to be adversely affected by a poor grade in these high unit courses.”

“Hmmm…. Vivian you need to be calming down. Every slight thing pisses you off these days and that’s very much unlike you.

Your temper these days is becoming very unusual of you.”

“Abeg abeg abeg. I’ve had enough troubles for today please, so don’t add yours.” Vivian said with a wave of hand as Cindy had no other choice but to be quiet.
