COOL SUNNY AFTERNOON
BIG TREAT FAST FOOD;;;—
Chioma and I were in a fast food having good time while we looked at eachother and smiled.
‘’Jake I don’t like that smile of yours’’
‘’why, is it a crime to laugh??’’
‘’that’s not what am saying…but jake come to think of it don’t you think someone has seen me and may report to my uncle’’
‘’is it bad to have fun with who you love??’’
‘’(killing smile)no…by the way why did you bring me here ‘’
‘’you know next tomorrow is our school party and the following day am going to Lagos so I use this medium as our last coming together’’
‘’wow, am going to really miss you’’
‘’I too’’ I replied with a big grin.
After our meal we went for a little take away shopping before I instructed kimkom to take her home since my dad sent me an errand in a close by village. I mounted a bike to the village, carried out what he instructed me to do before mounting another bike back to Itolu comuunit. But on my way home, I had this feeling that I was going to have accident so I told the bike man to stop me in a bustop, I paid him and continued my journey on foot only if I knew what awaits me.
Not up to twenty minutes I started treking, three boys ran out of a bush and hijacked me while they ran back into the bush..
‘’help help help help’’ I cried but no one came to my help.
They carried me far inside the bush until they got to a very big iroko tree where they dropped me.
‘’hey kneel down and raise your hands up’’ one of the guys said pointing a small gun at me, only God knows if the gun was working or fake.
‘’jake the city boy, problem kid, rich kid’’ another hailed.
‘’e don tey we dey look for you’’ the third guy said.
‘’pls guys don’t kill me, what have I don wrong’’
‘’how do you mean, I don’t get’’ I asked as sweat ran down my face
‘’someone loves you very much and you are turning her down, we hate seeing her sad and we the tigers are ready to do anything to bring back her joy’’
I thought for a while before it was clear to me that they were talking of Anita
‘’ANITA???’’ I shouted
‘’sharp guy’’
‘’am sorry to say this but nothing can be between Anita and I’’
‘’then be ready to face us, we don’t smile and we carryout our operation effectively , if you like you can run away from this town we will still fetch you out’’
‘’guy if you know whats good for you, we give you 48hours to ask Anita for forgiveness and ask her to be your girlfriend’’
‘’what??? Guys pls I can’t do that,’’
‘’ok let me remind you that your dads money and influence can’t save you from our rot’’
‘’ but guys isn’t this negotiatable I mean I can pay you guys’’
‘’we don’t need your money just do as we say’’
‘’ok no probleems I will do as you said’’
‘’good boy make sure you do as we said in the presence of her friends including your so called Chioma’’
‘’haaaa’’
‘’don’t forget 48hours now get out get out’’ they instructed.
I ran as fast as my legs could carry till I came out of another road I recognized which also led to my house.
I couldn’t sleep well that night as I was thinking on how I was going to do that in presence of her friends and even Chioma. Oh no I can’t do that, what if I run to Lagos and continue my schooling there, but they said they will find me anywhere I run to and my fathers influence and money cant save me. Oh God save me from this mess.
The next day I explained every thing in details to Emeka who advised me to obey the tigers because they were deadly people but he also told me to play smart because he doesn’t trust Anita in anyway. That same day I went to school to do as the tigers told me to do and I nearly cried myself out because I knew my relationship with Chioma was over.
‘’my love why are you crying??’’ Chioma asked.
Should I tell her what’s on ground, no she could do cracy things that could affect us I thought.
‘’Nothing my dear, am just having personal problems’’
‘’don’t hide that from me , we should share things together’’
‘’Chioma I love you’’ I said pecking her hand
‘’can you follow me somewhere’’
‘’sure but you havent still told me whats on ground’’
‘’just forget it, its nothing’’ I said preparing for the big event in my mind…….
