Lydia walked into the house, to find her husband Ken wearing an apron and setting the table
“Hubby…. What are you doing ”
“Ohhh shoot… You are back ”
“Why….. You don’t want to be here”
“No.. Of course not. I just thought.. You wouldn’t be back until I was done making dinner ”
“Hmmmm.. Really, that’s so sweet and it smells like heaven in here”
She sniff her nose and moved closer to the table
“I can’t believe you put so much efforts for me sweetie… I’m impressed ”
Lydia smiled and hugged her husband
“Thank You ”
“You haven’t tasted the food and already showering me with praises ”
“Because I know that you have done this with so much love and so much affection, it doesn’t matter how it taste like…. I’ll love it because I love you ”
“And I love you too ”
He planted a gentle on her lips
“Alright I need to shower quickly, I’ll join you soon.. Or do you need my help in the kitchen ”
“Ahhh no you go freshen up and get ready to have the best feast of your life ”
“Can’t wait….. ”

Lydia finished taking a shower and returned to the dinning
Ken served her the delicate dishes and they sat down to eat
“This is so yummy…… I can’t believe you actually cooked this….. ”
“I’m glad you liked it”
“What did I do to deserve such a loving husband ”
Ken locked his hand with hers on the the table
“I love you… And I’m the lucky one ”
Lydia smiled
“I love you too…… I have something I need to talk to you about ”
“I’m listening ”
“I met with the lady
“What lady ”
“The lady from the orphanage home ”
“Ohh”
“And we discussed the procedures to adopt a child, she explained the legal proceedings too and I think we can actually pull this through, she also said that we should discuss about it and talk about the age group…….. Do we want an infant , some days old, months old, a year, some years old but not more than five year old.. Do we want a boy or a girl, an orphan or a ”
“Lydia……. Look, I understand why you feel the need to do this but… At what extend are you willing to go to achieve this…. You have been funding different orphanage home since we got married and I get the unspoken words that you yearn for a child of your own….. Damn I want the same too but I don’t ever want you to act under pressure…. ”
“No…. No honey No… I’ve never felt pressured…. I just… I really want this Ken….. I… ”
Her voice broke into tiny sobs
“I really do” Ken stood up and wrapped his arms around her
“It’s OK, stop crying….. We’ll do it”
“Really ”
“As long as it makes you happy….. Of course ”
“Thank You so much… You are the best ”

Lucia crossed her legs on the table and sat in front of the table watching TV , with a bowl of groundnut and chilled juice on the side table
Pascal walked in and toss his laptop bag and suit coat angrily on the couch
”Where are the kids ”
“Asleep ”
“Good…….. We need to talk ”
“Okay ”
“I need to talk to you and I require your full attention ”
“It’s late Pascal…… You should have thought about that before returning home this late”
“I’m sure by now… You know the traffic situation of Lagos.. So don’t act like you don’t know where I’m coming from ”
“Apparently I don’t….. Who knows where you branched on the way here. It almost 10pm and it is this same route you take everyday ”
“Stop….. this nonsense, You think I don’t know what you were trying to do this morning ”
“What did I do this morning ”
“What were you thinking ”
“Ohh You mean with your lady friend… What was that her name again ”
“She’s not my ‘Lady friend ”
“Then how do you explain your relationship with her… She’s a lady and she’s your friend or is something else that I don’t know about… ”
“There you go again.. Jumping into conclusions…. And going haywire with every woman that passes my way”
“I didn’t do anything out of proportion with your friend… I was on my best behavior, she should be thankful, ”
“Ohh really…. Best before ”
“You know what I could have done if I really wanted to go haywire ”

Lucia jumped on her feet to meet him eye to eye
“Don’t you dare call me nuts…. Especially not for some whore….. I won’t take that from you ”
“I’m warning you… Lucia. This madness has to stop ”
“Or else what…. Don’t point fingers at me when you are the one with the dirty linens… Stay away from that girl.. Mr man or we have bigger issues to deal with ”
