CHAPTER 40 (LAST CHAPTER)

They started hearing gunshots all around them as they were inside the room looking at Alex bleed out in dismay.

“Did you call the Cops?” Kim asked Racheal and she shook her head.

“Of course not, I didn’t. I don’t know how these got alerted.” Rachael said shaking profusely. She knew she was going to end up in jail for what she did.

“Kim!” Kim heard that voice. The one she had been craving for hours to hear.

“Landon!! Landon, I am here.” She yelled from the room happily standing up and walking to the door. Before she could get to the door, the door opened and Landon barged in.

“Oh My… How are you?” He asked hugging her tightly and shutting his eyes. He felt so happy to see she was doing fine.

“I am a fine baby. I am so happy you are here, I thought I would never see you again.” She said and they disengaged.

“That would never happen.” He said looking up and then he saw Racheal holding a gun in her hand and front of her was Alex, he looked dead.

“Oh My God, what happened?” He asked looking at Kim who seemed so tensed to explain.

“I shot him. I didn’t mean to but I told him to stay away from us but he didn’t listen. I didn’t know what to do, I was so scared and angry seeing what he was doing to Kim, so I shot him and now I am going to go the jail.” Rachael muttered with pain written all over her.

“No, you are not going to jail. You defended us, he deserved what he got.” Kim replied and she looked at Landon who was still lost In the whole story.

“Is he dead?” He asked and some of the cops rushed into the room and immediately they saw the dead boy and the gun in Racheal’s hand, they pointed their guns at her.

“Stand down! Drop your weapon and move away from it.” They said and Racheal threw the gun down fearfully moving back.

“Your hands behind your head!” They yelled and Racheal flinched. She did exactly what they told her to do and Kim didn’t feel so happy about it.

“Landon you need to do something, she is no criminal. She did it to save me, Alex wasn’t doing anything good to me Landon, he wanted to rape me. He tied me to the bed with those cuffs and wanted to fk me right there where I won’t be able to defend myself.

But she came to save me after I shut her out of my life. She doesn’t deserve to rot in prison or be killed.” Kim said to Landon loud enough for the cops to hear.

“Kim please let us step outside, I promise your mother won’t go to jail nor be killed. She would be released, but for now, we need to leave the crime scene so the cops can do their job.” Landon said leading her out of the room.

“Promise me, Landon, promise me you would help her out of this mess,” Kim said and he nodded.

“I promise.” He responded.

“Kim!” Kim heard Peter call and they both ran to each other happily.

“Hey, how are you baby? Did he hurt you? Where is the bastard Landon?” Peter ranted in fury after hugging Kim for minutes

“Peter, Alex is dead,” Landon stated and Peter furrowed his brows.

“What? How did that happen? He isn’t supposed to just die like that! He is supposed to suffer! Who killed him?” Peter asked angrily.

“Me,” Rachael answered making Peter lookup. He saw his Ex-wife being escorted out of the house by the police.

“What? Please can somebody tell me why the cops have Rachael? She would never kill anyone, she isn’t a murderer.” Peter said and Landon sighed.

“Except she can when it comes to her daughter. She met him trying to rappe Kimberly, she asked him to stay away pointing a gun at him.

I bet he didn’t take her seriously, and he ended up getting shot, and then he died.” Landon explained and Peter turned to look outside again.

He was speechless and didn’t know what to say anymore. Kim took his hand and caressed it softly.

“Dad doesn’t worry, she won’t be thrown in jail. We would take care of it before you know it.” Kim said and he scoffed.

“I don’t care Kim. Maybe she finally got what she deserved for all the bad things she has done to us.” He said walking out of the house and Kim and Landon exchanged looks before following behind him.

Peter got into the car with tears in his eyes, he hated her but seeing what she did for Kim, he knew he had to stop hating her. She truly didn’t deserve to spend the rest of her life in jail.

He picked up his phone that laid on the chair and opened it to see a message.

The message was dropped because he was unable to pick it up. He was so tensed looking for Kim that he didn’t bother to pick up.

He played the message and listened carefully.

“I know you don’t want to talk to me right now, I was in your shoes I would do the same thing. But I want you to know I love you and miss you, Peter.

I regret how I have been a bad mother and bad wife to you and Kim, but guess what? I am going to make that wrong right today. This may be the last time you hear from me or about me.

I should have done this a long time ago but I was waiting for the right time which is here now.

Where I am going, I may not come back alive so I want you to please forgive me. I love you Peter, and I love my daughter so very much.”

Peter began to weep and he placed his hand on his mouth trying to keep his pains hidden.

He was so hurt, he wasn’t happy he wasn’t able to pick the call when she first called.

He missed her too, he missed her so much and he wished he could have her back.

“Dad, are you okay?” Kim asked after she looked at him through the window and saw him weeping.

“She left me a message before coming to safe you Kim, she loves you.” He mumbled in tears and tears rolled down Kimberly’s cheeks.

“Dad, we are getting Mom back. We won’t let her spend a night at the station, I promise you that. You would have your wife back.” Kim said sitting in the car and placing her head on his shoulder.

“Random has gone to talk to them?” Peter asked and she nodded with her eyes shut.

“Yes Dad, she would be set free and she would come back home to us.” She said rubbing Peter’s hand with hers.

THE NEXT DAY

“I don’t know if I should come into this house, I bet Peter doesn’t want to see me at all.

I should just walk away instead Landon.” She said standing in front of the door and feeling insecure about entering.

“I know you are scared to face Peter at the moment, but trust me, it’s not that bad.” He said and she sighed nodding.

“Okay.” She said and Landon opened the door. She walked in and met Peter and Kim waiting for her in the living room.

She wanted the ground to open up and swallow her up but it didn’t happen.

Instead, Peter opened his hands wide and she ran into his arms hugging him so tight.

“I miss you so much, Peter.” She said in a shaky voice.

“You have no idea how much I missed you too.” He responded and they both began to weep. This made Kim’s eyes water.

“I am so sorry for…”

“No Racheal, don’t talk about the past anymore. I heard your message and I want you to know I love you and we want you back in our lives.” Peter said and Kim nodded smiling.

“Oh my… Thank you so much.” She said in happiness and they all hugged each other even pulling Landon into the hug.

After they disengaged, Landon signaled that he wanted to talk and they all kept quiet and focused on him.

“It’s a brief announcement. Kimberly and I would be getting out of the country this night! Everything is ready.” He said and Kim’s eyes opened happily.

“We are so happy for you,” Peter said and Racheal nodded smiling widely.

“Won’t they becoming too?” Kim asked looking at her parents.

“We would be behind you, you should go first we would come afterward. We don’t want to disturb your honeymoon or vacation.

I promise we would join you soon, Racheal and I want to have our own time too.” He said looking at Racheal who couldn’t still believe that she was back into the family.

“You should start packing now,” Rachael said and the couples nodded walking to the stairs leading to their room.

“So where do we start from? We still have more than 6 hours before our flight, enough time hun.” Landon said walking to the middle of the room and turning back to see Kim right in front of him.

“Let’s fk.” She said kssing him and he giggled.

“Really? are you that turned on?” He teased lifting her and making her wrap her l.egs around his waist.

“Yes. I want it differently.” She said and he made her lay on the b.ed and started to kss her ne¢k.

“What different way?” He whispered in her ears.

“Tie me up and blindfold me. I don’t want to know what you would do to me.” She said and Landon looked into her eyes.
