RILEY

I began to laugh.

“Haha haha haha haha haha”I laughed loudly covering my mouth at intervals.

He stared at me dazed.

“What’s wrong? Did I say anything wrong? ”

“No,

Play my guitar please “I laughed lightly and then stopped.

But I was shaken by that.

Those eyes which stared into mine for an answer shook me terribly.

“Never mind what I said,

Its nothing… I was… I was just teasing you”he said.

I nodded tucking at my hair,

He shouldn’t have asked me this at all,

How am I supposed to answer him?

Tell him yes??

So cheap of him to even think that!

Or to say no!

How will I look like?

No, he shouldn’t ask me that at all.

I’m not even sure if I really like him.

Maybe I do.

I feel free around him.

I always loved to be with him and I feel safer when I’m with him alone.

“What’s wrong? “He asked and I shook my head smiling.

“Nothing ”

“You’ve been looking at me for a while now”he pressed further and I smiled again.

“Was I? ”

“Yeah, you were ”

I smirked urging him to play.

He smiled and then began to play,

“???????????????”

I listened carefully,

Whoa!

He can do it!

He really can!!

I began to clap for him as he kept playing the guitar.

“Let me sing for you”I said and he nodded.

“?Slow, slow, slow goes the mountain of love, ”

He stopped playing looking at me,

“Who sang that? “He asked and I shrugged.

“I did,”

“Really? ”

“Of course”

“Wow! You have such a good voice ”

I blushed.

“I didn’t know I have a good voice”

He smiled sitting down beside me and then:

“Try it out”

“What? “I asked confused.

“Dancing… Try it out ”

I frowned before growling.

“I can’t and I won’t”

“You can ”

“How? ”

I felt offended.

“Maybe…. ”

“The lesson is done for today,

I want to go home “I said standing up,

“I didn’t even play to the end for you ”

“I’m going to buy Daniel a dinner”

His face fell again.

“So… So you’re really going out with him? “He asked half heartedly and I shrugged.

“I’m not going out with him,

I’m only going to buy him a dinner “I explained.

“A dinner? “He scoffed.

“What’s wrong?

What if I buy him a dinner? ”

“He’s trying to get close to you Riley”

“What if he does? ”

“Guys getting close to people isn’t all that perfect cuz they might want something from you and… ”

I smirked stepping close to him.

What’s he saying?

Is he forgetting that he himself is a guy?

“So you want something from me?

Cuz you’re a guy too and you said it just now that guys isn’t all that perfect to be around girls, ”

“I didn’t mean it that way… ”

“Carson I will see you later at the library or worst still tomorrow “I cut him out smiling.

I don’t know what’s wrong with him and I can’t place my hand on any thing either.

Acting all moody when a guy’s issue is brought up.

“Why him? “He asked again as I started off my steps to go.

“Why what? ”

“Him?

Why him?

Why buying a dinner for him! You can refuse it!

You can say that you don’t want to buy a dinner and… “He was all angry.

“What’s wrong with you!

Carson,

If you think he’s getting close to me then,

It means I’m going to have a boyfriend!

A real one at that!

Maybe I should just taste relationship for once in my life!!

Why getting all angry about it! “I yelled back and he took two steps back ward looking at me with a surprised look on his face.

“A boyfriend? Him? “He asked looking so startled.

He dumped the guitar on the ground and I screamed thinking he was going to hurt his leg again even though he didn’t.

I feigned coughing immediately to cover up my stupid screaming.

He glared at me for a while and heaved.

“Riley… “He called in a calm voice,

“What? ”

“I want to tell you something ”

“Which is… ”

“I… From… I… I’m… Never mind”

I perked up my brow.

How am I supposed to tell her that I like her?

That I love her?

How?

“Is something wrong with you? “She asked me and I shook my head.

I don’t want her to go away from me.

I don’t want her around that jerky guy!

“Never mind”I found myself saying again even though I wanted to say more than those words.

“Okay”she kept nodding before she backed away.

I gulped.

I should’ve told her!

I should’ve told her afterall.

I watched her walk away, before she entered her car and drove off.

I bit my lower lip looking at the car dissapear and heaved.

Maybe I’m not for her!

Daniel is,

He’s rich,

An heir,

Probably more cuter than I am!

And me?

A struggling guy like me… What do I take myself for?

She’s rich and has taste for quality things and here I am… Standing infront of her and just because she gave me the rights to be around her,

I want to stand infront of her and tell her that I like her… What insult its gonna be to her.

I bit hard.

I don’t have to tell her that I like her.

I shouldn’t even dare do that else she’s going to move away from me and never talk to me again.

I won’t ever tell her….

Next day,

I arrived school earlier than normal and that jerk face greeted me when I was on my way to the general class.

“Oh hey!

I met you today again”he said pushing me slightly on my chest and that made me stagger back a little.

“Don’t touch me more than this please”I warned and his friends laughed.

“Wow!

You should be lucky I touched you guy”

I ignored trying to walk past them but they won’t let me.

He smiled at me,

“I want to beat you up real bad Carson or whatever you call yourself! ”

I scoffed.

Beat me up?

Just like that?

This guy must be really out for trouble.

“Leave him alone “one of them said,

“I can’t Rolie,

I want Riley to pick my calls and the best thing to do is to punish this jerky trash and see her running like a flash to this place “he said and they all laughed hysterically.

Huh?

To beat me up and lure Riley to this place?

“Act of cowardice”I muttered scoffing afterwards and he gave a short wild laugh which made students look our way.

“Act of what? ”

“You heard me the first time and stop being jerky”I added cocking my head and he looked at his friends with a surprised expression on his face before he turned to look at me once again.

“It looks like you want to get beaten up by me”

I smirked.

“Beat me up? Why? ”

“You will soon find out”he raised his hand to my face and a sharp husky voice called out his name.

“You again Daniel! ”

I turned to see my professor standing there looking at us.

He dropped his hand and smiled at me dvilishly,

“See you later Carson,

And… Don’t even think of her liking you cuz there’s a huge difference between you and her “he whispered laughing and then backed away with his friends following him from behind.

I groaned a little.

I was boiling in anger already.

“Are you okay?

Did he touch you? “My prof asked and I shook my head walking away to the class where I met Riley and Riele stood facing each other while the whole class served as the audience for the both of them.

?Jeez!

?You mean that lowly guy?

?He’s here!

?How can they fight over him?

I looked about to see lips talking and staring at them.

Riley was pacing while Riele was standing with hands akimbo looking at Riley and sIapping one of her legs on the floor.

“Answer me now!

I want to know!

I want the whole class to know!!!… “She yelled and looked my way,

Our eyes met and she added:

“Say it infront of him!”

“And what’s your business with whom I like and whom I don’t! ”

“We have to know!

He has to know! “She fired with hatred in her voice.

Riley snapped her fingers,

“Now, say it to the class,

Do you like Carson? ”

“Yes! ”

?Whoa!

?What the heck is going on?

?Where is my phone?

?The whole world must hear this!

?I thought she was getting married?

Soon, cameras stood out videoing the both of them,

“I like Carson,

So much and he knows it!

I love him so much and I stood by him all time!

I won’t lie about what I feel for him despite that am being forced to marriage! ”

She stopped talking,panting and looking at Riley,

“And what if I like him Riele,

Will you leave him for me?

“Just answer me first… Do you like Carson? ”

My temperature rose higher than normal,

My heart thumped too.

What’s she going to say?

I was nervous too and that’s when our eyes met
