CHAPTER 32
Diana manage to survive in the same kitchen with that woman, atimes she made certain remarks that just want to make Diana throw everything out there
But she kept her cool, the rice was boiled in no time, she handled the stew while Mrs Benson fried the chicken or rather watched her kitchen staff do the frying while she inspect
She knew she had someone to handle the cooking and she still insisted on dragging Diana to the kitchen obviously to torment her about her profound relationship with her son.

When they finally sat out to eat, there were so many side dishes added to the main meal. Rich people and their paparazzi, Diana rolled her eyes and the now overfilled dinning table
There’s all sorts of fruits in one basket, grapes, apple, watermelon and guava. Then it was diced as fruit salad on one side
There’s also vegetable salad along side moi moi and catfish soup
The meal was nice but Diana only focused on things she had done herself, the meal was nice the setting was great but the woman sitting right in front of her was terror.
Diana knows she stands to lose more now if Mrs Benson throw open their encounter from seven years ago.
He wouldn’t need to dig too deep before he realizes that Abby is his daughter and then h’ll will let loose
Somehow Mrs Benson didn’t mention it and they enjoyed the rest of the evening with Mr B’s sticky jokes.
When it was finally time to leave, Mr Benson was showing Diana some of his artifacts and how he had travelled round the world to collect them
“When I was younger I use to enjoy traveling, it gave me a better scope to the complexity of the world. The diversity of people all over the globe their different cultures and tradition and how unique they were in their own way. You need to see some parts of europe and asia, you’ll be amazed. Oh let’s not forget Africa. Oh dear we are blessed”
“I’d love to travel someday”
“Pls do, my daughter simisola she’s just like me except she’s a girl and we worry when she goes off the grid just like that or is stuck in a remote island where there’s no reception. Her mother would tear my head off if she can’t reach her in two hours, she’ll blame for encouraging her to be moving around”
“Well she’s Lucky to have you” they cracked
He kept talking and it looked like it wasn’t going to end although Diana was enjoying the conversation but half her mind is drawn to Abby and the other half worrying about what Mrs Benson is telling Jimi now again

Jimi finally showed up and he still had the big grin on his face so it definitely obvious that he still doesn’t know
“Is this man boring you to de.ath”
Diana shrugged
“Not at all, I think he is better company than you”
“Ohh really. Old man you need to lay off my girlfriend, and madam are you ready to go or you want to pick a room so you can continue your endless gists”
“I wish but we have to get going. ”
“Exactly. So dad we are not leaving you. If madam permits us we will drop by again soon”
“Madam pls don’t leave this poor guy to be stranded alone in this house. If I was on my feet I’ll definitely pay you both an August visit one of this days”
“No dad. Don’t even think about it. You just got back and you just got out of surgery so you need to rest. And by rest it means to get use to the four walls of this house. Don’t start planning one of your crazy anonymous trips while you are still under house arrest”
“Christ Folajimi you sound worse than your mother but you don’t have to worry. Now that you are taking charge I can now relax and watch you be a man”
Jimi said goodbye to his parents and they were finally on their way home.
Mrs Benson had a scowl on her face the whole time especially when she looks at that Diana girl.
The moment she saw her hop down from the car with Jimi the face clicked, she was upstairs in her room looking out the window when she saw her
She thought she might be mistaken seven years is such a long time and she wasn’t exactly the same teenage girl that wouldn’t stop running her mouth
When she finally got a closer view of her son’s new girlfriend her skin begin to crawl but she tried to stay in character
Her husband just arrived home and had just undergo a very critical surgery. It wouldn’t be right for her to be throwing tantrums and raise an alarm .she was going to handle this the best way possible
She took Jimi aside and talk to him about his new hobby but her son didn’t for once refer to Diana as a plaything. He called her his girlfriend on numerous occasions and that scared her.
This girl is definitely up to no good, if she had managed to find her way back to Jimi after all these years especially after claiming that Jimi ruined her family. Why is she still here, what does she want now. what’s worse is Jimi thinks so highly of her
Mrs Benson was so worried but she decided to let Jimi do his thing, in a few months he will get rid of her and she’ll be old news, she just hopes that she doesn’t achieve whatever she’s after in that period
But how would she figure out what this girl now is up to that Jimi is no longer leaving her and all her efforts to bring him back home is futile.
She’s going to have to hire someone to keep an eye on Diana for the duration that she’s involved with her son

Jimi was so excited, today was a great day. First with Diana, then his dad and now the company.
Patient is indeed virtue, when they had stripped of his executive position those years ago he had to start all over again
Going for interviews, going through recruitment programs and then working twice as much to earn peanuts
If he had fight it his parents would have definitely changed their minds and give him any position at the company or using his family’s connection to get a respectable offer from other companies but for some reason he decided to go with the flow
Maybe working for the family wasn’t the right decision at the moment.
He needs to gather all the experience he can get and it was tough. He learnt the hard way but now everything seem to be working out for him
He turned to look at the beautiful woman beside him , she is his lucky charm just sitting pretty and observing in silence.
Diana is graciously mysterious but that’s what he finds fascinating about her
“Hey beautiful” he rub his hand on her arm , she was lost in thought again
“Hey” she answers softly
“Did you have a nice day”
“I did” she answered honestly, despite everything she did survive the storm and the havoc was prevented
“And…..”
“And what!” What else does he want her to say
“What about my parents, what do you think of them”
“Ohh!” She smack her lips together
“I think you have really awesome parents Jimi, they love you wholeheartedly and want the best for you”
“I am a lucky boy” he grinned
“Your dad is a wonderful person, he didn’t even act like he was meeting me for the first time, he told me really amazing stories about his life and I was thrilled to hear them”
“What can I say that man is my hero.
I know you got along really well with my dad but what about my mom you guys barely spoke for a minute”
A frown cremated Diana’s face and that wasn’t even intentionally. That woman just wears her off
“Well your mom and I were in the kitchen for a while and we spoke plenty ”
Jimi cracked in laughter
“Look at your face, you look so terrified. I get it my mom is a little scary but it’s just because she’s a little over protective”
A little’ Diana scoffs
“Did she ask you all those bizzare questions”
“Yes she did”
“Am sorry about that. My mom is very concerned about mingling with the right people so it’s her way of getting to know you”
Oh she knows me well enough’
Diana said to herself
“I understand. Thank you for inviting me Jimi, it was a lovely day with your family”
“Well am glad you agreed to come with me”
He focused on driving for. Awhile
“So what about you. How’s life with your parents”
Diana looked like she had been struck with a baseball bat
“What!”
“I mean you barely talk about them.”
“There’s nothing to talk about”
She tried to kill the conversation but he wouldn’t stop
“Okay soHow are your parents, do you have any sibling?”
Diana heart was beginning to pound fast against her chest but she tried to keep the pace down
“My dad is late and no I don’t have any sibling”
She answered slowly
“Oh God sweetie. Am so sorry, I had no idea. I understand why you don’t like talking about it but I just really want to know more about you”
“Well all you need to know is I don’t have a glamorous lifestyle like yours and my life is pretty simple.so it just me , my mom and abby now”
“And me” he added
“Am a part of your life too babe , and am going to be with you every step of the way”
He was assuring her like he knows more about her plans than anyone else
She faked a smile and look out the window
“We should get something for Abby. Should we buy her pastries or ice cream”
Diana was short of words , the way Jimi talks about Abby,the way he treats her is just out of this world
“What! You’re looking at me like that”
“Like what”
“Like am doing something wrong”
“No Jimi on the contrary, you are not doing anything wrong ”
And that’s what is wrong. She didn’t expect things to be going so well between them
He is putting ideas in her head
“So pastries or ice cream for our princess”
Diana’s heart melt . He doesn’t realize he is doing all this for his own daughter
And even deep down she convinced herself that he was doing this to win her heart.
The strong connection between this father and his daughter is so special
“Okay we’ll get both for her we are celebrating me getting job back. Besides Brady would definitely want some it. And he must be feeling lonely too, Philip and Marty went out those two are getting inseparable lately”
She giggles
“They are both really happy and am so happy for them . That reminds jimi I know it’s none of my business but do you really intend to stay with Philip for the rest of your life”
Jimi shook his head
“Of course not. Infact I’ve been thinking about it alot lately but have not had time to go house hunting. I spoke to an agent about it before but it didn’t feel like the right time to move”
“Okay but when is it going to be the right time. I know Philip is a down to earth person and he’ll never be the one to say bro when are you leaving so that has to come from your side”
“I know….. The truth is when I was moving in I only told him I will be crashing in for a few weeks but now it’s been over three months. Maybe I have overstayed my welcome”
Diana nods
“Probably. Marty told me about you walking in on them the other day when they were having a moment”
“Oh sht! ” He chuckled
“That wasn’t intentional, besides they were still both acting like nothing was going on but I knew they had it for each other”
“Don’t derail from the point. They are together now and they need their private time”
“And so do we . We need all the time that we can get”
“So”
“I’ll start looking out, I mean with the job and all I probably have to put alot into consideration but I won’t lie am not eager to leave because I will be seeing less of you everyday”
Diana cleared her throat, it was suddenly so itchy
“Of course not, we’ll figure out a way to be together”
“Hmmm and maybe you’ll finally lift our relationship off its probation period”
He was talking about intimacy.
Diana can no longer deny that she’s sxually attracted to Jimi but she couldn’t risk it either. To get what she wants she have to hold on to everything she has to offer
“We’ll see about that. But am not making any promises”
“Am not in an hurry either. You and I are going to make a beautiful story Didi. And we’ve only just started”
She smiled and this time it was genuine.
