Asher started moving closer to me. My knee was bleeding already. He stopped when he heard a thud and we both turned to look at the same direction to see his mom on the floor. She had fainted.
Asher quivered with indignation as he looked at me and fear twisted my gut. I tried to stand up but I can’t. My knee was bleeding badly.
The glass I fell on really pierced my skin.
“What have you done!” Asher finally said as his annoyance flared.
My lips shook but no words came out. He rushed to meet his mom and try waking her up but to no avail.
“You are so dead, camille if anything happens to my mom” He retorted and made to carry her.
He succeeded in carrying her out of her house. He rushed back in to take his key and looking at me one last time, he exit the house.
I tried to stand but I was really weak. I started crawling while groaning painfully. I got to the bedroom and picked my phone.
My hand were shaking as I dialed Annie’s number. It rang but she wasn’t picking.
“Just…pick the ..damn call!” I groaned biting my lips.
She picked at the second ring. “Hello!” She said cheerfully.
“A..Annie…” my Voice shook.
“Oh my God!, did something happen?” She asked worriedly.
“Can..you come over? ..like right now…”. I said.
“Okay..am on my way..just hold on okay” Annie saId weakly.
I nodded even though she can’t see me and the phone dropped off my hand as I lapse into unconsciousness.

ANNIE’S POINT OF VIEW
After receiving Camille’s call, I hurriedly left my house. She sound like she is in pain or something.
I board a cab and kept tapping my fingers on my lap as the car moved.
I felt the urge to shout at the driver to speed up but I decided to just keep my cool.
I got to Camille’s home and rushed out.
“Ma’am, your money” The cab man shouted and I ran back and opening my purse, I brought out some dollar notes and hand it to him without counting it.
I got to the front door and noticed it was slightly opened. I entered and on getting to the living room, I noticed broken vase and bIood on the floor.
Fear splintered my heart as I tried getting different thoughts off my head.
“Camille!” I shouted.
No reply. I checked the everywhere but couldn’t find her. I went up to the bedroom and opening the door, I met her on the floor lying unconsciously.
My eyes moved to her knee that was bIeeding. The cut was really deep and panic assailed me.
I walked up to her and squatted in front of her.
“You will be fine..you will be fine” I said and tried carrying her but it wasn’t easy.
I managed to carry her until we both got outside. I was breathing heavily and sweating.
Luckily, there was a cab passing by and I stopped it and the cab man also helped in taking camille in.
We got in and the cabman drove off to the hospital.

AT THE HOSPITAL…
I kept pacing around the hospital waiting room restlessly as Camille is been treated in the ward.
What could have happened. Why was broken glasses around the house and why was camille bIeeding?
All these is so confusing. I quickly brought out my phone to call Asher. Am not sure he is aware of all these.
I already got a new phone before coming back to New York and had inserted my sim in it.
On clicking on Asher’s number, I noticed it is blocked. I don’t understand. I didn’t block Asher.
I decided to just ignore. I unblocked and dialed his number.
I kept calling but he isn’t picking. Damn it!
I tried for the sixth time and decided to stop trying. Maybe he is busy at work or something.

After about 20 minutes, the doctor came out of the ward and I walked up to him.
“How is she?”
“She is fine. The cut was deep but it have been treated. It will take some days to heal but she will be fine”
“Thank God. Can I see her?”
“Yes..sure” the doctor smiled at me and I nodded and entered the ward.
Camille was lying on the bed and immediately she saw me, she quickly sat up.
“Hey, don’t stress yourself” I warned.
She ignored me and stared at her bandaged knee and then at me.
I walked up to her. “Just rest okay?”
“Did you see Asher?” She asked immediately.
“I called him” I replied and her eyes widened in fear.
“What..he is coming here? Oh no! I need to leave!, he is going to kill me” Camille panicked and made to get up but I quickly stopped her.
“Take a chill pill, will you? I called him but he didn’t pick” I said and she relaxed.
“Phew!” She breaths out.
“What exactly is going on? Did something happen between you and Asher?”
“Ye..yes…you know about it right?” She asked me and i arched my brows in confusion.
“Know about what?”
“Asher. Everything! You sounded like you do the day we went to the mall . You adviced me and ..”
“I have no idea what you are talking about, camille” I said.
“You don’t? You don’t know Asher hit me?”
I felt numb all of a sudden.
“Annie?” Camille’s voice brought me back into consciousness,
“Asher hits you, are you kidding me?”
“Am not” Camille said as a tear dropped off her eye.
“Oh my God! How ?when ? Where? How?..and what!”
“I will tell you everything now..I don’t care anymore” Camille said and sniffled.
I took my seat and Camille begin her explanation.
How it all started. 10 months ago. How he hits her and why she left with me to L.A and why she was behaving so weird.
“Wow!, this is too much for me to take…and today? What happened? Did he cause the cut on your knee?” I asked, really angry at Asher and at Camille for keeping all these away for me for so long.
“His mom came visiting and I started behaving weird then I overheard his mom telling him I have mental issues and I am barren. I flare up and told her everything. The vase I was holding fell down and I fell on it while his mom fainted. I guess it was too much for her to take.”
“And where the he.ll is Asher?”
“I don’t know. He took his mom to the hospital, definitely. I don’t know which..”
“Actually, Annie. You made me speak up. When you talked to me about standing up to myself after we left the mall. I feel like you want me to fight my battle myself..that why I stood up at him and..”
I interrupted her. “No. You are wrong. If I had known about it. I wouldn’t have kept quiet about it and you know what, your battle is my battle. Am not going to sit and watch that idi®t named Asher beat or make you cry anymore. You wanna know what is going to happen now?”
“What?” Camille asked unsure.
“I am going to kill him, for raising his hands on you.. he is so dead” I said standing up.
