Chapter 16
“Is there something you are keeping from me Bella?” He asked again and that brought her starring at him while she ponder on telling the truth.
“Well I…..I “She paused and stood up thinking of how to begin telling him the whole truth.
“The truth is have been……”
“Watch out!”He yelled suddenly as he pulled her towards him with his good hand .
Losing her balance. Arabella fell on Gerald who had fallen on the bed due to the way he had pulled her.
She layed on top of him while starring down at him with him doing the same thing.
For a while she was lost starring into Gerald’s eyes. She didn’t know that he had such pretty eyes.
Even his nose caught her interest. Her gaze drifted off to his lips where she found herself wanting to kss it again.
“Will you get off!”He said jolting her back to the present and when she tried to get up , she slipped falling on him again.
The second fall caused Arabella heart to race fast. Never had she felt this way before she thought as she tried to calm her racing heart while still lying on top of him.
“What’s going on?”On hearing Fiona voice behind them.
Arabella got up quickly while Gerald did the same.
“Are you having an affair with my new nanny?”Fiona asked starring at Gerald.
“It’s not what you think Fiona. I can……”She stopped when the girl ran out of the room.
Arabella stood up to go after her but Gerald pulled her back.
“Just let her be for now”He said.
“Why do you always say that?”She asked
“Say what?”
“That I should let her be. She’s a kid and she needs an explanation so her mind wouldn’t keep on running wild but instead you hold me back saying I should let her be. That’s not the best option” Arabella told him as she pulled her hand from his.
“Then should I always give an explanation to my niece for every little thing I do? Even my parents weren’t this overbearing”He muttered.
“So you think Fiona is overbearing? If you think so why did you decide to watch over her.
You could have just left her in an orphanage home where she won’t be thought of as someone overbearing” Arabella told him getting annoyed by his behaviour.
“You don’t have the right to tell me what to do”Gerald said.
“Then you should act properly sir. I know my place here and I know that am crossing the line by acting this way but you gave me no choice.
Children wants one thing. The love of their parents and since Fiona parents are gone.
You are the one here for her. You are her parent and she only wants your love. Is it that hard to give?”Arabella asked.
“Yes. It’s hard to give because I don’t have those weak feelings in me. Now if you are done here. You can leave”He said dissmissing her.
Fuming within her. Arabella turned to leave but then she turned back to yell at him.
“Love isn’t a weak feeling. It’s you who is too weak to embrace that feeling!”
With that said. Arabella ran out of the room heading to Fiona room.
She found the girl in her room. Curled up on her bed looking sad.
“Fiona”Arabella called as she walked into the room.
“I want to be alone”Fiona said wanting her to leave.
“There’s nothing going on between your uncle and I. What you saw a while ago was just him trying to pull me out of harm’s way” Arabella said and she turned to stare at her.
“Really?”
“Yes. I was about stepping on a broken glass when he pulled me towards him.
I lost my footing and ended up falling on him. There’s nothing going on between us. I can promise you that” she said again and the little girl moved towards her.
“I hope you are telling the truth. I don’t want you dating my uncle ever”She said.
“May I ask why?”Arabella said wanting to know why Fiona is bent on her uncle not being with anyone.
“He won’t have time for me again. Am afraid that he will get married and to get rid of me. He will send me to the orphanage home” she explained.
“Your uncle won’t do that”Arabella replied as she hugged her.
“I know that he doesn’t want me with him. I know that am disrupting his life and am sorry about it but he is the only family I have left and am scared that he will abandon me. That’s why I keep on doing things to send his girlfriend away.
Promise me that you won’t fall for him like my other nanny did”Fiona begged and Arabella pulled away to stare at her.
“You have nothing to worry about. Am not interested in your uncle and am sure that he feels the same way with me .
So you your safe with me”Arabella replied softly and Fiona smiled at her before hugging her.
Arabella didnt know why but she felt that she is making a big mistake by promising Fiona this.
She just hopes that nothing will ruin the relationship she is having with Fiona.
The two were so cooped up with each other that they didn’t notice Gerald standing by the door way.
Having heard everything. Gerald left without letting them know of his presence.
