Chapter 19
“I….just ask you a question? What did you say?”Gerald asked again still looking pale and sleepy.
For a while Arabella was stunned into silence. She didn’t know if he heard it all or if it was just a part in it.
What should she do? What should she say?
She didn’t get to decide because the door opened and Jenna walked into the room.
“Gerald Darling! Your secretary called to tell me you are sick and I…..what are you doing here!” She asked as soon as she saw Arabella.
“I only came to help him with his fever. I….”
“You shouldn’t bother with something like this”Jenna said as she pulled Gerald hand out of Arabella.
Arabella stared at Gerald to see that he was asleep again. She drew in a deep breath before turning to Jenna.
“I did what I could. Take it from here”Arabella said as she picked up her bag to leave.
“And do you think I will listen to you?”Jenna asked.
“It isn’t the time to fight Jenna. If you don’t want him to be sick again.
Do what you can. I already did my part in all this. So do yours”Arabella said as she left Gerald office leaving Jenna starring with her mouth wide open.

GERALD’S MANSION
“Was the teddy you had to buy that hard to find?” Fiona asked as they both sat on the floor in Fiona room.
“Yes” that had been her excuse when she left for her job as Ara.
She had arrived back buying a beautiful teddy for Fiona and also making it look like she went to a store.
“Why do you ask?”Arabella asked Fiona who kept on wondering why she asked.
“Just because it took you long to come home.”Fiona replied as she held onto the teddy Arabella bought.
“I was stuck in traffic that was why I couldn’t make it back on time”She said making up a lie.
“Fine then and thanks for the teddy. Its lovely”Fiona said as she carried her book to continue writing.
Arabella mind drifted off to Gerald. How is he doing now? Is Jenna taking good care of him? She wondered as suddenly someone pulled her up.
She was Surprised to see that it was Gerald and he didn’t look pale or anything.
“Did you go out today?” He asked and she nodded gently.
“Where exactly did you go to?”He asked.
“I went to the store to get something for Fiona”Arabella replied hoping her lies will fool him which it did.
“She bought me a teddy uncle. Isn’t it lovely?”Fiona asked as she showed Gerald the teddy.
“It is”Gerald replied as he let go of her hand.
“Keep up the good work”He muttered as he turned to leave but Arabella stopped him by asking.
“Why are you asking where have been sir?”She asked
“For a moment. I thought you were someone else”He replied as he turned to leave.
“How are you feeling sir?”Immediately she said that she knew she had made a terrible mistake.
She thought as she watched him turn around.
“Why do you ask?”
“Well it’s because…..it’s because I…..I …..”
“How did you know about my falling ill earlier? No one knew except my secretary and Jenna”He said
“Your secretary…..yes your secretary called to ask about the type of meds you use”She lied quickly.
“Are you sure?”Gerald asked and she nodded quickly.
The secretary had called when she was nursing him as Ara at the office .
She knew that Mrs Milly had answered. If he were to ask her. She would confirm it.
“Mrs Milly picked the call. You can confirm with her”Arabella added and he stared at her still a bit unsure.
“I don’t need to do so. Continue with your job”He said as he left the room.
As soon as he left Arabella could breathe freely again. She had almost made a mistake with him a while ago.
Why did she have to ask him the same question over again? She thought as she went back to helping Fiona with her work.
