HIDDEN WIFE : CHAPTER 71 – 80

Chapter 75

Author: RACHEAL DENNIS.

RACHEL’S pov.

Nanny Pamela? Was she the one Duncan was talking with so mysteriously on the phone this morning?

Oh my God, don’t tell me she’s here to scold me too.

“Uh…”

Mariah cleared her throat, and that pulled our (Fatima and I) attention back to her.

“Fatty, Rachel, I’ve gotta to go, I just remembered I’m supposed to wash some of my clothes” Mariah said.

“Wait, you… ” Mariah didn’t let Fatima complete her words, before she disconnected the call.

I mentally rolled my eyeballs at Mariah’s lame excuse, she’s obviously trying to abandon Fatima and I to face nanny Pamela alone.

Fatima faced me, she gave me an apologetic smile and got up.

“I’m sorry, Rachel, but Mr Baldwin is back and he’ll definitely need my attention on something else at the moment” then she dashed towards the door before I could speak.

She stopped by the door and greeted nanny Pamela with a bow, then ran out as though some just set her pants on fire.

Great, such a faithful bestie I have.

I locked gaze with Duncan who’s kinda hiding behind nanny Pamela by now, and narrowed my eyes accusingly at him.

“Ahem!” Nanny Pamela cleared her throat loudly, as if tou remind me of her presence.

“Nanny Pamela” I let out a nervous laugh, and rushed to her, because she was still standing by the door. “How have you been, nanny?” I asked her.

“Oh? How have I been?” she scoffed, and crossed her arms on her chest as if she’s angry. “I didn’t know you care so much about my health, I thought you wanted to see me die of hypertension!”

I shook my head.

“God forbid such, nanny, I’m not that ev’l” I laughed, then shot Duncan another accusing glare. “Why didn’t you text me, to inform me about nanny Pamela’s arrival?” I blamed him.

Nanny Pamela narrowed her eyes at me.

“And what would you have done if he had texted you? Runaway?”

I let out a nervous laugh as I shook my head.

“No, no, no” I cleared my throat. “I would have prepared some good dishes for you” I said.

She eyed me suspiciously for a moment, then started walking towards a sofa -Duncan and I followed her immediately.

“Well, it seems like your brain is still working” she stopped by a sofa, and I helped her sit down. “I’ve had a long, and stressful flight, and now I’m starving” she said.

“Oh, I’ll fix you something to eat” I replied and hurried towards the kitchen, before she could utter another word.

Duncan is so gonna get it from me later.

HIDDEN WIFE : CHAPTER 71 – 80

Moments Later

Duncan and I watched nanny Pamela quietly as she eat her food, well, Duncan was the only one watching her because he’s trying not to meet my glaring eyes.

“Water” nanny Pamela said when she’s done eating.

Duncan quickly poured her a glass of water, and I started clearing the table -i’m trying to keep myself busy while bracing up for her scolding class.

“Leave the plates, Rachel” she said.

“Uh, I wanna hurry up and do the dishes”

“Don’t worry about that, Duncan will do the dishes”

“Huh?!” Duncan exclaimed, which earned him a harsh glare and he cleared his throat. “I’ll do the dishes” he grumbled and started gathering up the plates.

Nanny Pamela is an action lady, her behavior right here is taking me back to the old days when we were still together in the orphanage, she never used whips on us but only one word from her will put everyone in their right places, because anyone who went against her always end up washing everyone’s clothes.

“Hurry up, I wanna have a talk with Rachel”

“Yes, nanny” Duncan answered, and I stifled a laugh.

Duncan hurried gathered the plates on a tray, and carried them towards the kitchen, then I faced nanny Pamela and waited for her scoldings.

We sat for a few moments of silence, until she broke it.

“Come back home, Rachel” was what she first utter.

I frowned slightly as I was surprised at her words, like, isn’t she here to scold me and blame me for leaving my matrimonial home?

“You must be wondering why I’m asking you to come back home instead of scolding you, right?”

I nodded.

“I’m not gonna blame you because Duncan is really at fault”

I gaped at her. Is this nanny Pamela speaking? Is she a marriage counselor now?

“You and Duncan are husband and wife, you’re both married for six years now and if you’ve given birth earlier, I believe your child would be five or four years old now, right?”

I nodded.

“Right, so, I see no reason Duncan should be keeping things from you under the guise of protecting you”

I couldn’t speak or react in any way, I was only staring at Nanny Pamela in surprise. She smiled, then she reached for my hand on the table and gave me a soft squeeze.

“But Rachel, you shouldn’t have left home because of a misunderstanding, and you shouldn’t have threatened him with a divorce either, because that will definitely destroy your home one day”

“I shouldn’t threaten him with a divorce?” I couldn’t help but ask. “Nanny, Duncan is a stubborn man and…”

Nanny Pamela cut me off with a chuckle.

“That’s men for you, darling, they are stubborn and dumb in nature, and they wouldn’t understand our feelings if we don’t tell them directly” she paused. “They’re not God after all, and they can’t read our minds”

Yeah, she’s right on that, because I’ve been kinda dealing with Duncan indirectly and he doesn’t seem to understand me until it’s too late.

“I’m not saying you can’t be mad at him or teach him a lesson, in fact, he deserves whatever you’re doing to him right now…”

She trailed off and chuckled lightly, I’m sure she’s putting herself in my shoes -like, the pains I’ve been through all these years.

“…but I want you to understand that staying away from Duncan isn’t safe at the moment, because his greatest enemy is still out there and we don’t even know who she is, or what she looks like”

“But nanny… ”

“I understand your plight perfectly well, darling, but you can continue staying mad at him even though you’re both living under the same roof, running away from home won’t solve your problems”

She lifted herself slightly as though she’s just got the perfect idea, then grinned at me.

“How about you come back home with us, and I’ll teach you ways, I mean, t®rturous ways to pvnish him”

“Really?”

“Of course”

Nanny Pamela wanna teach me ways to t®rture her nephew? Wow, I can’t wait, but….

“Nah, I know that look” she said, and I gave her a confused look. “You must be saying you don’t wanna stay in the same room with him, right?”

How did she know what I was about thinking about? Is she a mind-reader?
I nodded anyway.

“How about we start punishing him by chasing him out of the master’s bedroom?”

The master’s bedroom, that’s I and Duncan’s room.

“Huh?”

“Of course, you and my grandson deserve a well-deserved rest” she said.

Oh my goodness!

Whoever nanny Pamela’s husband was supposed to be is sure very lucky, because nanny Pamela is a wife whom no husband would definitely wanna mess with -she is so cruel.

“So.. what do you say? Are you coming with us to learn from the master?” she gestured at herself when she said ‘the master’, and I nodded quickly.

“Yes, yes” I answered quickly, because I really wanna know how we’d have handled her husband.

I wanted to stay and talk more with her, but unfortunately, a tired yawn left my mouth and she laughed.

“Alright, I guess it’s your nap time” she said.

I checked my phone and nodded when I realized it’s 1:37pm.

“Go on, we’ll talk more later”

I sighed softly and nodded, then got up and stretched my body. I headed towards the stairs, but nanny Pamela stopped me.

“Where are you going?” she asked with a frown.

“Duncan’s room”

“It’s upstairs?”

“Yes”

Then her frown deepened.

“I’ll talk to Duncan about it, your room back home will be moved downstairs because you’re pregnant, and shouldn’t be taking the stairs so often”

I mentally rolled my eyeballs at her worries, then she rushed towards the kitchen -well, let’s just hope Duncan’s ears doesn’t fall off.

My phone vibrated in my hand, and I quickly checked the caller’s ID only to see Asher’s name flashing on the screen.

I was about answering it, but I decided against it and settled on just texting him back later, because answering his call right now deprive me of my sweet sleep, and I really need this sleep more than anything now.

I’ve been lazy since I became pregnant, and I guess it’s because I’ve temporarily shut down my cafe.
