Chapter 92

RACHEL’S pov.

Baldwin’s Mansion, LA

Ding~Ding, the doorbell rang loudly.

“I’ll get it” I said as nanny Pamela made to get up.

I dropped the plate of watermelon that was sitting on my laps on the table, sprang off the sofa and hurried towards the door because it wouldn’t stop ringing -I guess whoever is standing outside the door is quite impatient.

Finally, I reached the door and flung it open, and…

“Hello!!” welcomed me.

“Jesus! Argh” I released a squeal immediately I saw Mike and Jacinta waving at me with big smiles.

Without saying another word, I grabbed Jacinta and pulled her into a bone crushing hug -well, we can’t really call it a bone crushing hug because my big baby bump was kinda pushing her back, but I’m hugging her as tight as any pregnant woman would.

“Longest time, I missed y’all” I said.

“We missed you, little miss preggie” she replied, and pulled away from the hug.

“Please come in, come in guys” I invited them in, but Mike cleared his throat and I faced him.

“I’m sorry girls, but I can’t join in this reunion today” he said.

“Why?” I asked.

He raised his left hand and looked at his wristwatch with a small frown.

“I have an appointment to catch, and I’m running late as it is” he explained.

I was about saying something, but Jacinta scoffed and angrily stormed in, leaving me and Mike behind.

“What’s going on?” I asked Mike.

He glanced at Jacinta inside my living room, and shrugged his shoulders.

“I don’t know” he answered.

I narrowed my eyes at his reply.

“You don’t know? Your wife is mad at you, and you’re saying you don’t know why she’s mad at you?” I queried him.

“She’s snapping at me for every slight mistake, and nothing I do impresses her anymore”

I frowned and glanced at Jacinta, but she wasn’t even looking at our direction, she’s talking with nanny Pamela.

“Have you tried talking to her about her recent temperament?”

“Yeah, but she wouldn’t even say why she’s angry at me” he pumped his cheeks and puffed out some air. “I really don’t know what’s wrong with her, do you think marrying her was a mistake?”

I placed a finger on his lips, and threw him a glare.

“Never say marrying your wife was a mistake” I scolded him.

He sighed, and removed my finger from his lips.

“Don’t let her know about this, but I brought her here so you can talk to her, and find out why she’s been acting weird” he paused. “Maybe she’s gonna feel more comfortable talking to you about it”

I sighed and nodded.

“Alright, go on with your work” I said, and nodded at his wristwatch, silently reminding him of his appointment.

“Hm” he hummed and nodded. “I’ll drop by later to pick her up”

I raised a questioning brow at him.

“Pick her up? Isn’t your house just two poles away from mine?”

“Oh, yeah”

“Oh, yeah” I mocked him, and we laughed shortly. “Go on” I said as I turned around, and entered my home.

“Here, nanny, I’m tired” I said as I handed the plate of watermelon to nanny Pamela.

“You didn’t even eat up to three slices” she complained.

“But…”

“You need fruits more than anyone else at the moment” she sighed. “I’ll make you finish this later”

“Thank you”

She simply eyed me.

“I’ll be in the kitchen” she said, then she left with the watermelon.

I leaned back on my sofa, and let out a relief sigh, watermelon is one of my favorite fruits, but for some unknown reasons, I don’t like it anymore -my baby is giving me a tough time.

“Being pregnant looks so good on you” Jacinta said.

“Huh?” I lifted my upper body slightly. “Do you know how stressful this is? Do you know how much being pregnant is affecting me? Both emotionally and mentally?”

I paused and rubbed my forehead softly.

“Gosh, I really feel like going into labor right now, and pushing this stubborn boy outta me”

“What?”

“Yeah, do you know I can’t even bathe myself without his father’s help? Do you know I’ve become super lazy because of him?” I let out a fake cry, and started dabbing imaginary tears.

My mind briefly flashed back to my cafe that’s still on lockdown, goodness, I’ve missed so much money.

“Rachel, from the little I know about you, I strongly believe you’re just missing your cafe” Jacinta said which made me sprang up.

“How did you know?”

She rolled her eyeballs as she shook her head, and released a sigh.

“So, you’re trying to say there isn’t no benefits and advantages of being pregnant?”

“Of course there are”

“Really?”

“Hm” I hummed in reply. “I get to boss my husband around and get him to do exactly what I want now, he’s become very obedient since he found out I’m pregnant”

I paused, and laughed as I recalled some of the $illy things Duncan does for me recently.

“Rachel, can you come out with me?”

“Come out with you?” I asked back.

“Yeah, there’s something I wanna tell you about Mike” she elaborate. “Let’s go for ice cream”

My eyes lit up when she mentioned ice cream, and I was about to say something but nanny Pamela beat me to it.

“No!” she said firmly. “Rachel isn’t taking ice creams for now”

I frowned.

“Nanny, it’s been long since I had ice cream”

Nanny Pamela frowned and threw me a glare.

“About I promise, I won’t take more than one cup of ice cream”

“No, I’d rather you stay home if you wanna be stubborn” she said as she leaned against a wall.

My eyes narrowed and I pouted my lips, as though she’s my wicked stepmother who’s maltreating me.

“Don’t worry Nanny, I’ll make sure she doesn’t have any ice cream” Jacinta promised nanny Pamela, which earned her a glare from me.

“Thank you, Jacinta” nanny thanked her.

I looked between them, and scoffed as I folded my arms under my bbs.

“You’re both ganging up against me in my husband’s house!” I grumbled under my breath, but I made sure it was loud enough for them to hear.

THIRD PERSON’S pov.

Black-Knight’s Base

“Here, sir” one of Mr Baldwin’s men said as he handed a bucket of h®t water to him.

Mr Baldwin collected the bucket, he threw his ¢igarette under his foot and stomped on it, before approaching Asher with the bucket of hot water.

He stopped at just a few inches away from Asher, he raised Asher’s head, and examined Asher’s bruised face for a moment.

“Wake up, sleepyhead!”

Mr Baldwin gruffed out as he poured the water on Asher’s face, and roared into an uncontrollable laughter when Asher jolted forward, and began juddering against the pole as the water bvrned his skin.

“You son of a bçh” Asher coughed out. “just kll me already!”

“No, no, no” Mr Baldwin sighed. “I’ve told you time without numbers, that I made a promise to my heartbeat and I can’t break the promise”

Asher glared at him.

“You’re just a coward”

Mr Baldwin tilted his head. “Really?” he asked.

“You’re a coward, you know you can’t afford to offend my mom, and that’s why you’re scared of klling me”

“Ho-ho!” Mr Baldwin let out a mocking laugh.

He gr.abbed Asher’s jaw tightly, to the extent cracking sounds were heard. He looked directly in Asher’s almost covered eyes.

“I have a lot of enemy, and adding your bçhy mom to isn’t my problem!”

“I didn’t wanna tell you this, but I must tell you”

Mr Baldwin narrowed his eyes, as he impatiently waited for Asher to continue.

“It was a cold, raining night and Rachel needed some warmth, she sneaked into my room that night and cuddled with me… ”

“Shut up, you liar!”

Mr Baldwin growled and moved his h.and to Asher’s ne¢k, but that didn’t stop Asher from saying what he wanted to say.

“Believe me or not, I’ll kill you if you utter another word!”

“At least hear the truth first before you kll me” Asher coughed. “It rained all night and just cuddling wasn’t enough to warm her up, we ended up having a h®t make out session…”

“Shut up!”

Mr Baldwin landed a heavy pvnch on Asher’s face, which sent one of his te.eth flying out of his mouth, and cvtting his upper lip in the process.

“…and we had a rough sx that night.. Duncan, she’s mine, I’ve already had her.

“THAT’S NOT TRUE!” Mr Baldwin shouted.

Asher continued grinning as he felt satisfied at Mr Baldwin’s expression, soon his h.ead dropped on his chest and he stopped breathing.

“Sir, you klled him” Lucas said to Mr Baldwin who’s still muttering ‘it’s not true’ over and over.

“I gave him an easy de.ath, I should have t®rtured him more”

“You klled him, sir, what are we gonna say to Mrs Baldwin?” Lucas asked in a panicked tone.

“I. Don’t. Care!” with that Mr Baldwin stormed out, leaving a bothered Lucas behind.

“How do we explain this to Mrs Baldwin?” he asked rhetorically.
