HIDDEN WIFE : CHAPTER 91 – 100

Chapter 94

Few minutes later

“I envy that you can eat whatever you’re craving for” I pouted my lips as I watched Jacinta packaging her ice creams.

“There’s nothing there to envy, Rachel” she said. “In fact, I’m envious of you because your mother-in-law is here to guide you”

She paused, and let out a sigh.

“Unfortunately for me, my mother-in-law is nowhere to be found, and my stepmother-in-law is a…” she trailed off as she thought of the right word to describe her stepmother-in-law.

“Is what?” I urged her to continued.

“A gold-digging bimbo who only cares about her beauty”

I rolled my eyeballs.

“She’s still your mother-in-law even though she’s a bimbo” I teased her.

“I’d rather I don’t have a mother-in-law”

We both laughed at her words.
Right, Mike’s biological mother left his father few months after their (Asher and Mike) birth, and they haven’t heard from her up till this day -Mike’s dad even forbade everyone from talking about her at home, and there aren’t any photos of her in the house.

“Rachel!” Jacinta booed in my ear.

“What?” I asked as I blinked my eyes in shock.

“This is the sixth time you’ve spaced out on me” she said and eyed me. “What were you thinking?”

“Oh, nothing, just some irrelevant things”

She nodded and waved the waiter who’s been attending to us over, then reached for her back and pulled out her pouch.

“How much is our bill, please?” she asked.

“Uh… ” he trailed off and reached for his notepad to recheck our order, I guess he’s forgotten what we ordered.

‘What a careless waiter’ I mentally scolded him and rolled my eyeballs -I’d fire him if he was my staff.

Right at that moment my eyes caught a black blazer in a shop across the road, and I fell in love with it immediately my eyes landed on it.

“Hey, Jacinta” I called for Jacinta’s attention. “I wanna go check out that blazer, I’ll be back in a few”

Her gaze followed my finger to the direction I was pointing, and she shook her head with an expression that says; what can I do with you?

“What a fashion icon” she grumbled.

“Thank you” I winked at her.

I snatched my bag from the table, and sprang up as fast as I could, wincing slightly as I felt a small pain at my lower back, but ignored the pain and hurried towards the road, as though someone else was gonna snatch the blazer before I get there.

After waiting a few seconds for the oncoming cab to drive past, I hurriedly jumped into the road and….

“RACHEL!” Jacinta suddenly shouted my name.

Not knowing what possessed me, I stopped in the middle of the road and turned around, with a confused and questioning expression, wondering why she’d suddenly scream my name.

“Jump out of the road right now!” she screamed again, then sprang up and raced towards me.

My eyebrows furrowed as I still wasn’t getting what’s going on, and I was about asking her why she’s running towards me, but she pushed with great force before I could utter any words.

We both fell on the other side of the road, but luckily I didn’t h!t my waist or baby’s bump on anything, because I protectively wrapped my arms around my tummy -although, I scrapped my elbows and knees on the ground, which left some pretty deep wounds.

“Jesus!” I exclaimed quietly as I stared at my wounds.

“Phew! That was very close!” Jacinta breathe out.

“Are you ok?” I asked and raised my head to check her expression, only to find her glaring daggers at a van that drove past us in a lightening speed -a sudden cold overwhelmed me at once.

“I almost got hit by that?” I asked in a shaky voice, even though the answer was very obvious.

“Yeah” she turned her gaze back to me. “What happened to you? Why did you stop in the middle of the road?” she scolded me.

I shook my head.

“I.. I.. ”

I paused, closed my eyes and inhaled deeply to help myself calm down.

“You called me, and I totally forgot I was already standing in the middle of the road” I explained.

She sighed.

“Thank goodness you’re fine, but… ” she trailed off and stared at my wounded knees and elbows. “We can’t shop with these wounds”

I nodded in agreement.

“Yeah, I’ll head home and get my wounds treated”

Jacinta got up and helped me up too, my eyes zeroed on her stomach as she winced slightly.

“Are you ok?”

“Yeah”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes” she reached out her hand to hail a cab. “Let’s get you home” she glanced at my injuries and laughed. “Nanny would be so mad at you”

“Yeah” I pouted and she laughed at my pitiful expression.

THIRD PERSON’S pov

In an Unnamed Organization

“You can’t go in, Miss Wood”

A secretary tried to stop Tasha, but she pushed the secretary out of her way and barged into an office.

The secretary came rushing in, with her whole form trembling in fear, as she bowed before her boss.

“I tried to stop her, Ms Cara” the secretary explained herself.

“It’s fine, Cherry” Ms Cara waved the secretary (who’s now known as Cherry) off, Cherry bowed thankfully and hurried out as though her life depended on it.

Tasha stormed towards a chair in front of Ms Cara’s table, and sIumped down.

“You look so mad” Ms Cara said.

Tasha sIammed her purse on the table and glared at Ms Cara.

“Of course!” she snapped. “When am I gonna stop waiting for you? When are you gonna take action? When her baby is born?!”

Ms Cara was about saying something, but a knock on the door interrupted her, and she invited whoever it was in.
Three men in black suits walked in, and she narrowed her eyes when she saw them.

“You’re finally back”

They quickly bowed their heads.

“What’s the meaning of this?” Ms Cara asked.

But there was silence as none of them was ready to speak, they’re exchanging glances and silently arguing who’d speak first.

“I asked a question!” she banged on the table, which made them flinch back.

“Ma’am, the mission failed” one of the men reported.

Her eyebrows furrowed even more as she glared nastily at them.

“The mission failed?! And you have the nerve to report a failed mission back to me?!”

Before anyone could comprehend what’s going on, she’s reached for her drawer, and pulled out a gvn which made Tasha’s eyes widened in fear, and she let out a loud gasp, then sIapped her hands over her mouth when Ms Cara turned her gaze to her.

But Ms Cara ignored Tasha’s expression, and sh®t him (the one who had reported the failed mission) on his forehead.

Tasha watched frighteningly as his body dropped on the ground, and his bI.ood started flowing on the ground, until it turned into a small pool.

“Take his body away through the secret passage” Ms Cara ordered.

“Yes, ma’am” the remaining two men answered.

They were about carrying the body away, when one of them suddenly recalled something and he paused.

“There’s another news, ma’am” he said.

“What?!” she barked at him.

“We just found out that Duncan k!dnapped, and klled your son today”

“What?!”

Ms Cara sprang up at once, her already narrowed eyes narrowed even more, and gripped her gvn tighter.

“Which of my sons did he klled?”

“Asher, ma’am”

Ms Cara clenched her jaw.

“Good! Very good!” she growled under her breath. “I’ll make him pay dearly, I’ll snatch everything from him under his nose, and I’m gonna start with that little wife of his and that bstard in her womb!” she promised.
