Philip just finished an online meeting with a client, he stretched himself and yawned softly
“Kat needs to work on this, why is she so clueless” he said, picking a file
He called her telephone line
“Boss” her voice said
“Come to my office” he said and hung up
Minutes later, Kat showed up, Philip looked up at her and dropped the file
She’s wearing a sleeveless blouse that’s opened at the front.
Then a short clingy skirt and and excess make up
“Boss, you called for me” she said with a big smile, adjusting her skirt
” Don’t tell me you’re going for a show” he said
“Sir?”
“Why else will you wear something like this to work” he said
“Sir…
” What are you trying to do?, Why did you wear this” he interrupted
” I.. just want to.. change my dress style today” she said
” Change your dress style from corporate to bitchy?”
“Huh?”
“Oh you don’t know?, It’s bitchy so anytime you wear something like this to work again, then you’re calling for firing” he said sternly
” Yes… Sir I’ll.. not do it again” she replied awkwardly
” Better” he replied and picked the file, he pointed it at her
“And this, you submitted it without editing it, do I have to tell you everything? ” He said
” I’m.. I’m sorry sir” she replied with a bow, taking the file
“edit it and bring it back, then while coming back, don’t come wearing this … Ion care if you have to go change in any nearby boutique” he said
” Yes sir, clear sir” she replied and left his office
She held her chest and inhaled hard when she got to her office
“Kat, calm down ok?, Calm down.. I can’t believe he’s not tempted… Maybe he’s really an immovable rock, gosh!, All the dolling up went to waste! ” She ranted …

Melanie entered the school premises and kept her face up, not minding what happened yesterday
“So far students have mouth, they’ll talk so I’m less concerned” she said to herself ..
She got to class and met only Chef Sally
“Melanie” she said
“Chef… Why is there no one here?, Am I late?” She said.
” You didn’t check the WhatsApp group?, It was shifted to twelve” Chef Sally said
“Then I won’t be able to come, why will they shift it to twelve without considering students like me who have part time jobs” she complained
” You know I’m not the teacher of the subject, it’s Chef Ariel, she’s always like that” chef Sally said
” That lousy chef” Melanie pouted and sat…
“Melanie..”
“Yes?” She replied
“You’re so beautiful” Chef Sally said
She smiled
“I get that a lot, but what’s the use when I’ve been ruined, right now I can’t get close to any man or guy, my body is allergic to them and only God knows when I’ll overcome the allergy” she replied sadly
” Yeah, I only know about that, but why did you get violent after seeing carrots yesterday” Chef Sally said
” The thing is.. I was on my way home from where I went to buy carrots when it happened, since then, carrots brings back the memory too…” She replied sadly
” I thought as much, but it’s ok” chef Sally said
“And thanks for comforting me yesterday, I really appreciate ” Melanie said
” It’s my pleasure dear… But you look…. Disturbed, are you ok? ‘ chef Sally asked
“Chef I’m really not ok… The thing is…. My dad’s life supporting machine needs stabilization monthly, and I haven’t paid for this month, it’d be disconnected and he’ll die if I don’t pay on Friday, I’m really scared” she said
“like how much are we talking about? ” Chef Sally asked
“Two hundred thousand dollars” she replied
” Really?, Then I can give you” chef Sally said
*Give me?”
“Yea, I think I still have more than that in my account, I’ll give you, I’m not lending you” she replied
” Really? ” Melanie said unbelievably
Sally brought out her phone
“Your account number and account name” she said
“You’re really serious… Chef Sally how can I thank you” she said, almost tearing up
” Hey stop the tears from falling” chef Sally said
She quickly wiped it
The money was transferred to her account and she hugged her happily
“You’re a godsent I swear” she said
“You’re just too strong and determined, and besides, you’re like a sis to me” chef Sally said, breaking the hug
” I’m so grateful chef” Melanie said gratefully
“So, will you smile for me now? ” Chef Sally said
Melanie smiled widely
” Now that’s what I’m talking about… You can go for your part time job, Chef Ariel will be taking how to bake fruits cake, excluding carrots though” Chef Sally said
” How can I miss such class? ” Melanie contemplated
” Don’t worry, just come early tomorrow, I’ll teach you personally” Chef Sally said
” OMG you’re awesome!, I love you chef! ” Melanie said joyously and blew her kisses before rushing out
She has smiles on her face throughout
“Now that I’ve gotten dad’s bills, I’ll get this month payment from the gas station on Friday, I can keep that for Valerie’s school materials… And when I get the coffee shop payment, we can get foodstuffs, mum will save her payment” she said happily
” And I need to start looking for another part time job in place of the store I got fired from” she thought and sighed
” Melanie you can do it” she said, encouraging herself as she board a cab…

Philip got home tired
Today was damn hectic!
Robin is not in the living room
“Must be in the study” he thought, climbing upstairs
Truly he’s in the study, writing his homework…
“Robin, dad is back” Philip said with a thin smile
Robin stood and walked up to him slowly
He hugged him tight
His temperature is so hot!
“Robin you’ve started again, you’re sick” Philip said worriedly
He gets sick almost every week
“Dad don’t take me to the hospital” he said slowly
“That again?” Philip replied, carrying him in his arms
“I just don’t like hospitals, it’s just a mere body ache, pain relievers and a little rest will do… please dad” he said
” Do you have to be stubborn during sickness too?” Philip said, entering his room
” I love you Daddy” he said
Philip lay him on the bed and covered him well
He got a cold towel and made to place it on Robin’s forehead but Robin held it
“I hate that” he said
“Robin…
” Dad I only need pain relievers” he insisted
Philip sighed and stood, he got the medicine box and found pain relievers
He gave him only a pill and one pill of sedative too
“Don’t bother asking if I’ve eaten, I ate omelette already” he said
“Only omelette?” Philip said
” It’s quite much, trust me” Robin said as his eyes started closing..
He slept off
” Daddy loves you” Philip said and kssed his nose before standing up
He changed his clothes into something comfortable before going back downstairs to eat dinner
To him, the food is tasteless though he knows it’s tasty, but maybe he’s not having a strong appetite
He’s always like that anytime Robin gets sick
He took three bites and stood
He went upstairs again and entered his dressing room
He opened the smallest closet where he packed all Stella’s pictures
He took one of her pictures and stared at it
“Betrayer” he muttered silently
He slept in the dressing room without realizing….

Melanie is just coming out of the kitchen when Susan came in
“You’re back mum” Valerie said
“Yes daughter… Melanie I branched at the hospital and I got to know that this month bills has been payed” she said
” Yes mum, God sent his angel in form of a human to rescue us, chef Sally, a teacher like a sister in school helped me, she said she gave, not lend” Melanie replied
” That’s just too too good, I wish I can meet her… just tell her I’m too grateful” Susan said
” Sure mum” she replied with a wide smile
“Good to see you smiling today sis.. and by the way….I took the form already, I’m going for the exams tommorow” Valerie said
” Good, just read well” Melanie said
Susan held her hand
” Thanks daughter, what would I have done without you…if not for you, the fifty thousand dollars I get monthly from my cleaning job, it won’t be enough for anything” Susan said
” It’s ok mum, and I love you” Melanie said
“Love you daughter…so what’s for dinner?” She asked
“Coming” Melanie replied and rushed to the kitchen
She brought the dish to the table
“Tada!” She said, opening it
It’s rice and salad…
“Let’s dig in” Susan said
They picked their spoons and ate together

“Dad!, Dad!” Robin’s voice woke Philip up this morning
He opened his eyes and found out he’s still in the dressing room
“I’m still here” he said and stood
Stella’s picture frame is still in his hand…
Another glance at it, he threw it to the floor and it broke to pieces
“I need to break the remaining ones too” he said before going out to the main room
Robin is sitting up on bed
” You slept in there?” He said
“Greetings should come first” Philip said
” Ok morning dad, I can’t ask how was your night cos I already know it’s not cool” he said, getting off bed
” Why?”
” Who will have a cool sleep in a dressing room” Robin replied
Philip giggled
” It’s good to see you’re fine” he said
“I told you I just need pain relievers, see?, It worked” Robin replied
Philip carried him
” I wonder why you don’t have beards, they say it’s a sign of maturity in men, does that mean you’re immature?’ Robin said
“Oh Robin, Who have you been talking to in school” Philip said
” My crush, her name is Michelle” he replied
” So you weren’t joking with this crush of a thing” Philip said
” I wasn’t, and don’t worry, I’ll bring her home to come and see you soon” Robin said
” God of Mercy” Philip said silently
“Don’t be worried dad, it’s nothing, it’s just a sign that I’m attaining maturity” Robin replied when they got to the bathroom
Philip dropped him and put toothpaste on their toothbrushes
“One…two…go!” Robin said
Philip had to carry him on top of the mirror stand so he’ll be able to see the mirror too
They started brushing and after that, he insisted on bathing with him
They bathed together but naughty Robin started throwing foams from the tub at Philip
“Robin…
” Let’s play Dad” he said and threw another
Philip had no choice but to throw it too, they spent up to an hour in the bathroom, playing hard…

Valerie sighed heavily when she finally entered Lighthouse highschool
Today is the scholarship exams and she’s more than prepared
The school is damn big!
She’s in love with their uniforms too
Everything about them is distinct
She walked slowly to the exam center according to the direction given to her by a female student
She entered and settled down amidst others who also came for the exam
The exam started soon and she tried her best to answer diligently
She knowingly spent all the given one hour in the hall before submitting..
“The school is going on a one week vacation next week so expect your results next week Friday” the examiner said before dismissing them…
Valerie came out of the hall and stretched herself
“How conducive” she said with a big smile
Then just beside the hall, a student came out furiously from an office she later knew as the principal’s office
It’s actually a guy, he looks aggressive with bruises on the sides of his face but even the heavens knows he’s handsome!
“OMG” Valerie said slowly
The Principal came out of the same office
“Dwayne I’m talking to you!” The Principal said
” So he’s Dwayne” Valerie thought
“And I’m saying I don’t wanna answer!” He yelled back
“What will become of you at this rate!, Stubbornness won’t bring anything out of you!, Can’t you behave calm for a while?, Why must you always fight with Darien?, He’s your brother for crying out loud!” The Principal said
Dwayne laughed lightly before it faded off his handsome face
“Point of correction sir!, He’s my step brother!, And he’s irritating and annoying!, He’s the one who’s always starting everything but all you guys see is me!, I’m tired of this school!” He said loudly before walking away
” Dwayne!” The Principal yelled but he’s not looking back
He kept walking away, he’s coming towards Valerie’s path
“He’s coming” Valerie thought and widened her eyes
Even with his frowned bruised face, he’s still so handsome
“Valerie” a familiar voice said from behind just when Dwayne is about to pass by her
She looked back but still kept walking till she bumped into Dwayne
They both staggered … She faced him with eyes that’s as wide as something else
The angry look on his face has doubled right now
“Out of my way!” He yelled and pushed Valerie by her shoulder
She fell heavily and some students laughed
“Ah!” She whimpered
Dwayne walked away
“I’m sorry” the girl who called her earlier said, helping her up
“It’s ok Lillian” Valerie replied with a smile
Lillian wiped her dress with her hanky
She’s her primary school friend
“You came for the scholarship exams too?’ she asked
Valerie nodded
“Too bad you have to bump into that angry bird… It’s sure you’ll pass, so I’m expecting you in the next one week in Lighthouse highschool” Lillian said…
” Sure , I think I should go home now” she replied
“Ok, see you soon” Lillian waved as she left the school
Her arm stings
She checked and there’s a small cut there
She got wounded as a result of the push earlier
“Ouch!” She winced, wiping the blood with her hanky…
