Darien let go of Whitney’s hand immediately she looked back
Valerie kept looking at him in shock
Freaking Darien??
Whitney knows he doesn’t joke with his words so she glanced angrily at Valerie one more time before leaving furiously
Valerie took the bag from where Whitney left it and faced Darien
“Thanks” she said simply
“Just thanks?” Darien replied
“What else?” She said
” Go out with me” he replied
” If going out with you will be the only way to pay you back for helping me, you shouldn’t have helped” she said
” Are you saying no indirectly?” He said
“I can’t go out with you” she replied
” The second time you’ll be saying no to me, even after telling you I don’t take no for an answer” Darien said
Without uttering a word, Valerie went back to class
Whitney kept shooting hateful glances at her as she took her seat
“Where have you been?” Lillian asked
“Just somewhere” she replied quietly
The next teacher entered the class and the second class started earnestly..

Melanie sat impatiently in the doctor’s office, waiting for him to come in, he actually is talking to someone outside
It was chef Sally who brought her there since the doctor is also a specialist in phycology
The doctor came back soon and after explaining what the problem is, she was taken in for brain scan and some other tests
Later**
“Her brain is fine” the doctor said after the test
” That’s a lie doctor, I always behave like a mad person if I have long eye contact with a guy or come closer to a guy too much” she replied hastily
“it’s your mind” the doctor replied calmly
” My mind?”.
The doctor nodded
Sally held her hand and she calmed down
“Your imaginative world carries the believe that all guys or all men are rapists and there’s a reason for that, maybe when it happened, the rate at which guys mocked you is higher”
” Yes doctor, there’s a football field in our former street back then, after it happened, I was getting some fresh air, strolling down the street when I bumped into some group of guys who actually came for football, they were like twenty and they started mocking and laughing at me when they saw me
I cried a lot that day when I got home, thinking all of them are the same, and you’re right doctor, since then I’ve been experiencing a lot” she replied
” That’s just where the problem lies miss Melanie, but you can handle it yourself though it might be hard” the doctor replied
” How?”
” Trust me I’ve seen a case like this before and the lady in question ended up killing two guys all because they came closer..you don’t want be a murderer right?” The doctor said
” At all” she replied
” Then learn how to control your mind, try not to think too much about what happened six years ago….it lies in your hands, if I tell you that there’s a drug that can cure it, it’s a lie, you just have to keep reminding yourself that all men aren’t rapists”
” I can do it?” Melanie asked
” Of course you can, and the carrots stuff, you just need to….Face your fears” the doctor replied
They later left the hospital and Sally Pat her back assuredly
“Everything will be fine ok?, You heard what he said, just try, it’ll be hard for sure but you just have to try” she said
” Thanks Chef” Melanie replied and hugged her

Goodies store**
Philip used his nose cover before coming out of his car in front of the store
He entered in his usual dope walking steps and grabbed the things Robin and Melanie asked for
Four packs of chocolates, same number of packs of caramel candy
He payed and left the place but just beside the goodies store, there’s a Jewelry store and inside one the show glasses, he sighted something that caught his attention..pretty shinny earrings
It might be cheap and he’s not a fan of cheap things but right now he just wants to get it
He entered the store and got the earrings
Just hundred dollars, he even tipped the attendant handsomely…

“Chef tell me the story of Princess Tessa, princess of the golden river” Robin said , sitting beside Melanie on the couch
” I’ve told you that several times” she replied
“But I really want to listen again” he replied with a pout
” You look more naughty with a pout” she said
” Really?”
” Sure…so let’s start the story, .. once upon a time, there’s a river in an Asian country called the golden river, … History says it harbours a lot of gold in but it can’t become visible unless the princess of the river is killed
Her name is Princess Tessa, the most beautiful girl in the aqua world that time, her dad, the king of the river…king Lin wants protection for her by all means and caged her in a room so she won’t get caught by the greedy wicked humans who wants the gold…
But one day….
That was interrupted when Philip came in, all smiles
“Dad!” Robin said, jumping on him
Melanie sighed
She didn’t get to finish it this time
*School was great, don’t bother asking” Robin said
Philip gave him a peck and presented the nylon
” My goodies!” Robin exclaimed, checking them out
“Yours too” Philip said to Melanie
“Thanks Mr Albert” she replied, smiling big as she checked it out with Robin
“Four packs of chocolates!” They both screamed
“We can’t finish it all” Robin said
Melanie saw the other four packs of caramel too
“This is too much” she said, looking at him
These days, she detected she can actually make eye contact with him for two seconds
“I don’t care, just enjoy” Philip replied, going upstairs
“Dad is awesome!” Robin exclaimed
Philip smiled when he heard from his room
The chocolate is made in form of a paste in average cute white plates which came with small pink rubber spoons
*This is good chef” Robin said after tasting a spoon
” I know right?, It’s too good, I love it” she replied
“I guess we won’t be able to eat the candy today again, let’s eat it tomorrow” Robin said
” Sure dear” she replied
” Feed me” Robin suddenly said
“Really?” Melanie said
“Sure, I want you to feed me” he replied, placing the chocolate he’s eating on the couch
She started feeding him with her own and he took each spoon, smiling cutely
“It’s sweeter this way” he said
“Silly you” she replied
” I’m not lying, ok I’ll start calling you honey from now on cos everything you do tastes like honey, everywhere you are tastes like honey too, since you came here, this house feels like a pool of honey too….so chef, your new name is honey” he replied
“I’m blushing” she replied, covering her face with an hand
He smiled and opened his mouth for another spoon
“By the way, when will you be graduating from the school of nutritionists?” He asked
” A month from now” she replied
“Really?, I can’t wait!, Dad will throw you a party trust me” he replied
*That won’t be needed you know” she replied
“It’s needed honey” he replied.
” That’s sweet” she replied and hugged him
Philip watched from the stairs he has been standing at
He smiled like he has been doing since she came here
She’s indeed sweet

Next day, Lighthouse highschool **
Valerie made sure she’s focused and not shaking when she was called out to solve a question again
Calculus in mathematics
She solved it within minutes and faced the class, waiting for the maths teacher’s comment
“A round of applause” he said
The whole class clapped, well except two people… Dwayne and Whitney
She went back to her seat, feeling like shes on top of the world
She smiled althrough the class and the most important thing is that she understands it all
After the class**
“Valerie, you should see me after school, I have series of assignments to give you and if you do well, you’ll be the one to go with Dwayne to the Universal mathematics competition that’s coming up next week” the math teacher said
” Sure sir, I’ll definitely come” she replied enthusiastically
“If it were me, I won’t have the balls to solve it, but you did it” Lillian said
“Math is sweet” Valerie said
” For you , I’m just trying in my case” Lillian replied, placing her head on the table
” I’ll make sure to solve all the questions well so I can go with Dwayne for the competition” she said
” Lover girl” Lillian replied
” Hey” Darien’s voice said
Lillian raised her head from the table
” Yes?” She said
“I wasn’t talking to you” he replied, facing Valerie
“I plan to add you to the list of my girlfriends but you’re being difficult, is it money you want?, I have a lot of it so….
“So go away Darien, I’m not interested” she interrupted
Darien smiled lightly before grabbing her by the arm
“Come with me” he said
Lillian tried to take her hand from his grip but it’s impossible
“Let go of me” Valerie said but he started trying to take her out of the class
Students gathered around and watched the drama that’s about to brew
“It’d be good if she can just take Darien and leave my Dwayne for me alone” Whitney said hatefully
” I’m not leaving with you Darien, stop this madness!” Valerie said
Lillian tried to help again but he slightly pushed her, she staggered and fell back on her chair
“Come with me easily, I just want to talk to you and nothing more” Darien said
” No I don’t want to talk to you” she replied
” Why?, Cos I’m not Dwayne?” He said..
She kept quiet and he’s about to pull her again when someone pushed him away from her
Darien looked up and it turned out to be his always wounded step brother.. Dwayne
“This is none of your business” Darien said
“But I like getting involved in what’s none of my business cos my personality won’t allow me to sit and watch a bastard like you constituting nonsense” he replied frankly
” You really want to get wounded today again?” Darien said
Dwayne punched him immediately and he fell heavily, bleeding from the nose lightly
He stood and wanted to return it but Dwayne held his fist, without wasting time, Darien punched him with the second hand
Dwayne got bursted lips again
Valerie covered her mouth in shock
Dwayne kicked Darien and that sent him flying to the back of the class
Dwayne faced Valerie
“I hate clumsy retarded girls who can’t stand for themselves” he said and left the class angrily
Valerie followed after a second thought…
Till he got to the school garden
Seems it’s his only companion
He sat on the fallen tree branch as usual and cleaned his lips with his fingers
Valerie suddenly appeared in front of him
“What again?, Anytime I see you, bad things always happen” he said
” I’m sorry you got wounded cos of me again” she said
“Don’t feel too big, I didn’t fight cos of you, I did it cos I wanted to fight him” he replied and stood
He started walking away but she stood in his way again
She brought out a patch from her pocket, she took his hand and placed it on it
Without uttering a word again, she left
He looked at the patch and felt like throwing it away instantly but had a second thought and kept it in his pocket….
************
Evening**
Robin slept early today immediately after dinner
Melanie is in her room, maybe reading horror novels again
Philip sat in the living room after working on his laptop, thinking of the series of things that happened since she arrived
He feels different now but doesn’t know what it means yet
Maybe because she cooks delicious food
He looked at the necklace on his neck
His practice room key
“I miss singing” he said and closed his eyes, he opened it again and stood
He went upstairs and stood in front of his practice room door
He placed his hand on it and stayed like that for minutes before taking off the necklace slowly
He steadily inserted the key in the keyhole and took a deep breath before opening it
He pushed the door and it opened wide
It’s dark inside since he put off the lights
He raised his hand to where he’s sure the switch is
He switched it on and the lights shone on his practice room, the booth, writing table, the song systems
The bandana he likes wearing while practicing
Tears came out of his eyes as he watched…
“I miss singing honestly, I miss it” he said again
Then he saw his keyboard
Yes he’s also a keyboardist who plays sometimes but it’s Leo who plays keyboard for him in concerts
Leo is his friend who’s in Korea
Philip walked closer to the keyboard and it’s already slightly dusty
He sat on the chair and plugged the cable
He pressed a button and it sounded
Melanie heard that and wondered what it is
She came out of her room and is surprised to see his practice room opened and lightened up
Philip smiled, missing those days and that instant, he wished Leo is here
But all the same, he feels like singing right now and his mind went to one of his old songs
“UNTIL THE END OF TIME” is the title
He cleared his throat and played the intro in the keyboard before starting to sing
? Though we’ve only spent a little time together ?
? That little time is the best moment of my life ?
? The cheerful smiles ?
? The happy laughter ?
? The smiling face, it means a lot ?
? It’s a whole meal, the best food I love ?

He cried slowly as he sang but that doesn’t take away the sweetness of his voice
Melanie’s eyes refused to reduce brightness, she’s too shocked at what she’s seeing as she stood by the room doorstep, watching him sing
She’s really not a fan of his songs, in fact she doesn’t listen to any song, maybe no time for it but now that she’s hearing him sing
It’s the best voice she has ever listened to
Her heart raced even at the voice coming from his mouth
He continued singing…
? The bright stars in the sky reminds me of only you ?
? The cute teddies on my bed are filled with your playful memories ?
? My heart will bleed without you beside me ?
? I’ll go mad if you decide to leave ?

He looked her way that time and their eyes met
She held her breath as they stared at each other endlessly
He stood and started walking up to her
She had plans to run but she remembered the doctors words..
*I can do it” she thought and stood still, still holding her breath..
“All men are not rappists, Mr Albert is not a rappist” she kept repeating that word in her mind till he got to her
Without giving her space to talk, forgetting any phobia she has, he drew her to himself by the arm and hugged her tight
” Melanie….” he said slowly, resting his head on her shoulder
Melanie received another shock but right now she can’t understand what she felt cos she’s busy reciting Philip’s survival poem and this time, she said it out..
Philip hugged her tighter and a gasp escaped her mouth
“All men aren’t rapists, Mr Albert is not a rapist” she said
