Vivian could tell that Pascal missed his wife greatly. There was hardly any time he spoke for five minutes without mentioning his dearly beloved wife.
“I miss her every day, when I have to think about a major decision. I miss her every night, I when Samantha cries and I miss her every moment of the day, when I look around to find her smiling at me, but she’s not here” he told her one day.
She felt so touched to see how a man spoke about a woman, someone who was already gone and had no way of coming back to him.
She imagined how precious and lovely she must have been when they shared the times they shared as man and wife.
“You know Mr Pascal, something about the way you talk about your wife always makes me feel so less of a woman” she began,shocking Pascal greatly. “How do you mean?” He asked, his brows creasing in confusion.
“Well, the truth is, it always makes me wish I was a little better than the wife I was.
I wish I could have been so dear to a man to be spoken about the way you talk about your wife even when she’s gone. But, Mr Pascal, I’ve been a very terr!ble wife.
I ruined my home myself, and today, I’m not sure when I’ll stop paying for it!” Vivian said, looking so sad.
And that was it! Vivian succeeded in making Pascal angry. “What do you mean you weren’t good enough? How on Earth do you think you could have made a difference with Jeremy?
I don’t know what it is with you women, but you see the punk you married, there’s no way even an angel would have remained divine in his toxic company!
His negative energy is enough to make anyone become a m?nster” Mr Pascal had side in anger
Vivian scoffed unhappily as she looked at Mr. Pascal in his eyes before she spoke again. “I wasn’t talking about Jeremy.
I was talking about the husband I allowed Jeremy and Mary his cohort destr0y in wanthom impunity.
I’m talking about the man that did nothing but love me so perfectly, and I managed to let my marriage crumble so easily because I played according to the dictates of an.ex who was on a missio to tear us apart” she had told him
They spent time talking about her failed marriage with Leonard, and how she had made the marriage fail.
He condemned her for the wrong steps she took, and still managed to make her see how she could still make her life work for her again.
Such was their freindship for the few.days they had spent together.
Vivian.felt at ease talking to him, for not only did he not judge her so harshly, he advised her like a big brother.
She was hoping she could stay some more before heading to her mother’s.
But something about how Jeremy lingered at Pascal’s doorstep that day, made her feel he was suspecting Pascal of hiding her.
Vivian was so scared that she just had to keep dancing and doing all manner of things that came to mind, to make the child fall asleep.
She needed to do whatever she could, to keep the baby from crying.
For not only was Mr. Pascal’s daughter too old to cry with a voice as small as her daughter’s, Mr Pascal had locked the door outside on his way out with his daughter.
It would simply spell d00m for her and Pascal if Jeremy found out she’d been in that house, these past three days, she reckoned.
And even though she cared less about the much he could do to her, she was too afraid of the harm that could befall Mr Pascal for the help he had rendered her and her daughter.
A little while later, the baby fell asleep, while suckling on her mother’s breåst. “That was close!” Vivian whistled under her breath, rubbing her palms together spontaneously.
When she told Mr Pascal the story of how Jeremy was close to finding her in his house, she could tell that he was angry.
She wondered if he was angry about the possible threat his and his daughter’s life were facing in the light of Jeremy’s suspicion, but he was actually very angry about the fright and trepidation that laced every word she spoke about Jeremy.
He was angry because he couldn’t let Vivian know that he could do to Jeremy.
And something about the way he reacted to the story she told him, made her afraid of staying in his house a while longer.
She needed to leave the house for his and his daughter’s safety, for, with the little she knew about Jeremy, he could pose a major threat to Pascal.
