IT’S OKAY TO CRY
Episode 13.
Regina visited the next day but was shocked to know Anastasia is not at home but left the baby to Dite.
“When did this start? I mean when did she start working? Regina asked.
“Few days after she arrived, Dite replied and Regina touched Hope.
“Was she sick or something? Regina asked.
“Yea she was, we returned from the hospital yesterday and she’s good now, Dite replied.
“But she’s so light, is she not feeding her? Regina asked.
“She left brea$t milk, Dite replied.
“Its not enough still! If she just returned just yesterday from the hospital, she is to give her every attention she needs, don’t tell me Anastasia is not taking care of this baby, Regina said and Dite heaved.
“Don’t ask me that, if she’s not taking care of the baby then who will? Besides am trying my best and giving her every attention I can, she just started working there and bringing up excuses that will take her away from her job may not be too good, Dite replied covering her up.
“By the way where is she working? Regina asked.
“I only know she’s a nanny to a rich couple here, Dite replied.
“Nanny to a rich couple? Hmm I see, Regina said nodding.
“Okay, so what can I offer you? Dite asked.
“No never mind, in case she comes back, tell her Regina dropped by to see her, but she can come visit me if she wants, Regina said.
“Alright I will, Dite said and Regina shook Hope hands for a while and left………….
That evening Anastasia returned from work and as usual, she brought food for the family,
“Oh I almost forgot, your friend dropped by to see you, Dite said feeding the kids.
“You mean Regina? Anastasia asked.
“Yeap, she said you can come see her too if you want, Dite replied.
“Did she come in? I mean did she see Hope or your brother? Anastasia asked.
“My brother wasn’t at home and yes she saw Hope. She was actually not pleased hearing you are working and leaving Hope behind and she also made mention that Hope is so light, she thinks Hope is malnourished, Dite said and Anastasia was so angry.
“What right does she has to say that? Is she questioning my motherhood or what? Anastasia asked.
“Why ranting like its not true? Its obvious anyway but I covered up for you, at least you said you will change, Dite said with a Smirk.
“I can’t take this, I’ll go warn her right away, Anastasia said and went in to change up……………
Regina knocked on the door as she got to Regina place,
“The door is open, Regina said inside and Anastasia walked in..
“Oh looks like someone got my invitation, your nanny told you I came right? Regina asked.
“What nonsense is This Regina? What right do you have to ask my in law all those questions huh? Anastasia asked and Regina stood up.
“So you are working? Last I checked you wanted dying a house wife to take care of your precious daughters, what happened now and why now? How wicked are you to leave a suckling baby with miserable drops of milk for the whole day, something you can’t do to your set of twins. And should i guess the couples you are working for? How smart of you to take care of your daughter indirectly without them knowing while theirs is looking like a piece of wretch rag! Regina shouted facing her and Anastasia smiled.
“Really? So someone is mad with that huh? And how is it your business how I run my thing, what do you care? Anastasia asked.
“Your business? I should have known, Regina said nodding.
“Look here, stay out of it, this is strictly not your concern with how I treat that baby. She’s under my care now and I know that, I am taking Care of her and you have no right to question me, Anastasia said and Regina scoffed.
“I don’t blame you one bit, this is all my fault but nevertheless, something can still be done about it, Regina said and Anastasia giggled.
“Regina! Stop saying rubbish. The game was already gambled for a month now, so let sleeping dogs lie before it bites your fingers, you should know we just did ourselves favour and it was a 1:1 draw, Anastasia said smiling and Regina nodded.
“Guess what, I don’t bloody care about the draw came about or whatever you may bring out to hold me down with. I don’t care about my husband anymore, and guess what, I’m already filing for a divorce because i can’t live with the thought I’m cheating even when being married. So dear friend, do your worst, Regina said and Anastasia licked her lips.
“Oh someone is having conscience now, that’s ridiculous, Anastasia said laughing.
“Dropped this Anastasia and face it else I’ll open it all up for you, damn the consequences I deserve it, we do! Regina shouted.
“So you are serious with this? Fine go ahead and tell them you exchanged their baby with mine, I hope you can stand it huh? Anastasia asked.
“The both of us will be going down no doubt, and I laugh who will cry most, Regina said.
“I’ll pretend I didn’t hear this trash you just spilled out, remember our friendship and don’t act stupid, Anastasia sternly said.
“Don’t forget we became friends because of our husbands, have you forgotten i don’t bloody care anymore? G0sh look at the glowing, good looking baby I handed to you is now looking like chaff and you still see yourself as a friend? You’re an animal, a ugly m0nster to me, now get out of my house, Regina said opening the door for her while Anastasia stood shocked.
“Regina……….. “Spare me that and leave, I give you 1 week Anastasia, 1 week from today to put yourself together and say the truth, else I’ll spill the beans. Now leave, Regina said And Anastasia nodded smiling and slowly left……………
Anastasia went home and met Mpho already back from work, “welcome, she gently greeted as she found him about to eat.
“Where is this food from? Mpho asked.
“I got it from where am working, she replied.
“So am i now begging for food huh? Mpho asked.
“Not that, its part of my payment i should say but if you don’t want it i can tell them to stop, Anastasia said.
“Food as part of payment? Very interesting, and this couples, how did you get to know them? Mpho asked.
“Ermm actually when i was working in the bar, a lady there liked me and told me about the job which they accepted me, Anastasia replied but Mpho just shifted the food aside.
“I have no problem with you feeding your children with their food, but count me out if it, Mpho said and Anastasia heaved.
“If you need me to be cooking everyday, it’ll be stressful and almost impossible you know because of my job, Anastasia said slowly looking at him.
“Oh my honourable working class lady I don’t bloody care about your food either. Ditebogo! Mpho shouted and Dite slowly came out.
“I don’t want to see this next time, get my food prepared yourself, you can do for yourself too if you care for it or join them in their exquisite meals, Mpho said and she nodded.
“I’ll drop some cash for you to take care of that, Mpho said getting up.
“Won’t you at least eat this for today? Anastasia asked he but ignored taking his car key and drove out to eat outside.
Anastasia heaved and went in knowing she has more pressing issues to attend to. She saw Hope already asleep and much hatred grew as she watched her sleeping as Regina words kept repeating in her ears.
She came to remember all the promises Julia always share for her concerning Palesa and the thought of how everything will crumble when the truth comes out.
Mpho will turn to a bea$t and the consequences will be severe which Palesa will suffer more of it and she didn’t want that to happen to her lovely daughter.
“I won’t let you crumble my plans Regina, if you want it the hard way, so be it! Anastasia concluded in her heart as she breathed heavily……………….
