Episode 18.
Anastasia returned to the room and found Mpho awake,
“Where are you coming back from? He asked.
“From the kitchen, I went to get a glass of water, she replied.
“But I heard your phone ring, he said.
“Ah yes, it was an alarm I mistakenly did. Why are not sleeping? She asked.
“Nothing, he said and wanted going back to sleep.
“Hey, its been months now you know and am healed, I just thought you want to…. You know as your wife, Anastasia said and he looked at her shaking his head.
“I have no such time anymore, are you horny? Sorry am not interested, he said.
“Because you’re doing it outside huh? Just look at what happened to Regina, did you and your friend agree to treat your wives this way? Anastasia asked.
“I am not Regina husband, with all the efforts and energy I put into you, what did you bring out in return? At least Regina gave him a male and female unlike you turning my house into a female hostel. Please don’t start this night, I need to sleep, Mpho said and went back to bed backing her and a message entered her phone.
She saw the address and sighed going back to sleep………….
The next day was a weekend and Anastasia hurried off to work but Begged Mpho to visit Regina..
She arrived and told Julia everything who was so interested in the discussion,
“You mean she’s a nurse over there in the capital? Julia asked.
“Yea, this is her picture, Anastasia said bringing out her phone to show her.
“Oh yea I recognize her, oh my that is wickedness. so is she awake now? Julia asked.
“When we left her last night she wasn’t awake yet, and I haven’t seen her today but I asked my husband to check on her, Anastasia replied.
“I feel so bad for her right now. I think you’ll leave early today so you can attend to your friend, Julia said.
“No no Julia I think its enough, I need to do my job and i am skipping a lot, Anastasia said.
‘No no I understand you and I know your friend needs you right now. You need to be there for her, Julia replied.
“Then I have to spend the remaining hours with my baby, I’ve missed her so much, Anastasia said and Julia laughed.
“OK she’s upstairs and I used my little knowledge to take care of her this few days, Julia said.
“That’s nice, I think you need more of the training, Anastasia said going upstairs.
“Am still learning, OK by 12pm you can go see your friend alright, Julia said.
“Thank you, Anastasia said………………..
Mpho signed some necessary papers at work and called up his friend,
“Hey good morning, Mpho greeted when he picked up.
“Morning dude, just in time I am just entering the airport, He replied.
“I’ll be expecting you then, bye, Mpho said and dropped the call and hurried up to see Regina.
Getting there he met the nurse who was attending to her yesterday,
“Hello good morning, he greeted and she looked at him.
“Ahh good morning sir, for your friend, she woke up early this morning, she said.
“Is that so? Thank you, he said and hurried to her ward.
He opened the door slowly and saw a group of medical team in the room.
“Take my life please just do it what are you waiting for? Mpho heard Regina voice faintly and it was obvious she was crying.
He went nearer and found out her colleagues arrived immediately they heard the news as they tried to console her.
He greeted them and they gave him a chance to see her as he introduced himself,
“Regina, he called out as her body was bandaged and legs raised and she slowly looked at him.
“What kind of life is this Mpho? What did they say is left for me now? She asked and he shook his head.
“You have your beautiful kids and your husband, he replied.
“And my what? She asked.
“Yes he is on his way here, everything will be alright okay. If we have to take you abroad to get your legs back we will, Mpho said and she tried shaking her head.
“Stop giving me flimsy hopes, I know my legs are done and there is nothing anyone can about it. Don’t tell me of miracles, look at me, this cant be me right? She asked in tears.
“Please stop, your tears is not helping matters here but weakening the bandages around you, everything will be okay, Mpho said.
“Are they caught? She asked.
“No one seem to know what happened and the cops are just clueless about everything. We were waiting to hear from you what happened, Mpho replied.
“Nothing much, they were two of them on mask . They met me in my room, tied my mouth and hands and in anger i kicked one of them in the balls. The other used a heavy rod on my legs countless times that I prayed for death but it didn’t come. He stopped and left the room and returned with a jug of hot water. They held me so I can drink it but they got scared I may scream out. They left me and turned to leave but threw the hot water on me and left, that is all I know, She narrated.
“They wanted you lame and dumb? I mean for what reasons? One of her colleague asked.
“I don’t know I don’t know, Regina said In tears.
“But I saw you at work yesterday, am still surprised how this happened seriously, another said.
“I came to see my friend….by the way where is Anastasia? She asked Mpho.
“She went to work, but we were with you throughout yesterday. Am sure she’ll be here after work, he replied and the cops came In.
“If you don’t mind is she strong enough to report the incidence of yesterday so we can take actions? An officer asked the doctor.
“Yea she was actually telling us what happened, but please take it cool on her, he replied and they gave them the chance which she repeated what she told her colleagues.
“You said you came to see your friend, did you get to see her before this happened? An officer asked.
“No, but i was expecting her soon, she replied.
“Who is this your friend? The cop asked.
“She is my wife and they are best friends. Now is that the area of concentration you will remain on? Mpho replied.
“I am doing my job, the cop replied.
“Then do it well. She actually arrived at her place and the incident already happened, you should concentrate on Better questions than this, Mpho angrily said when the questions was beginning to fall on Anastasia as a suspect.
“Well sorry about that. So did you have a fight or clash with anybody which you feel can set this up for you? The cop asked Regina.
“I have wronged no one, besides i don’t base here too long, what did i do to deserve this tell me? Regina asked and they heaved.
“Anyway we will investigate on this but we went over to your place this morning and ermm…. We noticed some of your properties are gone and the door wasn’t broke down, the cop said.
“What? How is that possible? I mean didn’t you guys sealed up the place to stop anyone from penetrating? Mpho asked.
“The door was locked, whatever happened again i can’t tell because some things are missing, The cop replied.
“Still the neighbors didn’t see anything or anyone who did it huh? Or we now dealing with spirits? Mpho shouted.
“Of course not, they said a young man did that saying Regina asked him to. To them they believe he is having an affair with her, an officer said and Regina closed her eyes tight.
“How dare you say such a thing? One of her colleague angrily asked.
“We have to go now, but don’t worry we will find him and get your stuffs back. Thanks for the report anyway we will work on it and get back to you. Get well soon, another officer came in and they left immediately.
“What is he talking about Regina? Her close colleague asked.
“How am i suppose to know? Anyone can do and say anything now i am handicapped, Regina said with fresh tears pouring out.
“Forget about it okay, those things can be replaced, don’t think about it, Mpho came in……………
