Episode 28.
Mpho arrived at Yvonne place and met her packing,
“Where are you going to? He asked going in..
“What a question, she replied not looking at him.
He sat on the bed looking at her while she concentrated with her packing,
“Hey, am sorry for not talking to you for a while, not that I did that on purpose. I hope you know this is not easy for me but I have made my decision, he said but she was less concerned.
“Yvonne are you listening to me? He asked and she finally looked at him.
“Yes sir I am not deaf, and whatever your decision may be, I am leaving Mpho, She replied and he got up holding her.
“Get your hands off me now. I don’t blame you Mpho, its all my fault this is happening but I don’t regret one thing, and that is my baby. I will do whatever it takes to bring this life on earth, and I will do it no matter the cost. Stay with your lovely family, while I will pray my baby grows and be my family too, Yvonne said with tears in her eyes and Mpho hugged her.
“I never wanted you to leave and you know it. I refused to say anything so I won’t make a rash decision and hurt you. Thats why I needed to think about it Yvonne, Mpho said.
“So what’s the decision? She asked.
“You’ll keep the baby and I’ll give you every support, but after you give birth I have to prove the paternity of the child, Mpho said and she scoffed.
“You don’t trust me? Anyway what should a stripper like Me expect forgetting you stopped me from………. “Its not about me okay, but my wife. I need to give her a proof that the child is really mine, and if its mine she will have no choice than to accept you in my house, he interrupted her.
“I’ll be staying with you? She asked.
“What else? We’ll do a court marriage and everything will be okay since you don’t want to return to your family, he replied and she slowly sat down.
“What’s the problem? He asked.
“Are you trying to say you’ll marry me? She asked.
“My child has to be legitimate, he replied and she shook her head.
“So its only because of the baby and not about me right? She asked.
“Yvonne please, I enjoyed every day with you and maybe I was thinking of bringing you home before this surfaced, and another thing, if I don’t love you I won’t even say this. Maybe I’ll just take full responsibility of the child, rent a house somewhere for you and we are done, Mpho replied and she nodded in tears and hugged him.
“Thank you, she whispered.
“Its okay, I have to hurry to work now and I hope you won’t leave huh? He asked and she shook her head.
“I’ll see you later then, he said kssing her and stood up to leave.
“Mpho, she called out when he reached the door and he stopped.
“What if its a boy? She asked..
“I don’t want to get my hopes high Yvonne, bye, he said and left……………
Mpho got back home, and after eating he went in to meet Anastasia bathing Hope,
“We need to talk, he said and Anastasia looked at him surprised to hear that after so many weeks.
“Am all ears, she replied and concentrated on Hope who was enjoying the water.
“What’s the case about you and your late boyfriend? He asked and Anastasia froze.
“Why such a question? She asked looking at him.
“Why such a question? After knowing you murdered someone and I didn’t talk about it for months now, you think I shouldn’t know huh? He asked and Anastasia took Hope from the water.
“There’s no case of him and I anymore, maybe the cops found his corpse and they don’t know who is responsible. Probably he’s buried and the case was swept under the carpet, are you satisfied? She asked.
“You’re not ashamed of yourself, with all boldness you’re saying this to my face Anastasia, he said and Anastasia smirked.
“So what are you going to do? Report to the cops and get me arrested? Then go ahead. Mpho its months already and I’ve moved on, don’t think I’ll tremble at your feet to beg you, Anastasia said.
“Thats nice, but yet you froze when I asked you the question, I’ll wonder how shocked you will be when a big blow comes after this, Mpho said and left the room while Anastasia wondered what he meant by that………….
Weeks passed and turned into months, still Mpho kept the pregnancy away from Anastasia and played the card well.
Finally it was Palesa and Hope first birthday.
Julia parents came down for the party, of course Julia planned it in a grand style.
Anastasia woke up that day and met Dite singing a birthday song for Hope as she carried her round the sitting room..
Anastasia shook her head looking at them and Dite saw her,
“My baby is plus one today, and to see how very beautiful she will be brings me joy, Dite happily said.
“I see, so she’s more beautiful than her sisters huh? Anastasia asked.
“They are all beautiful in their own way, but as for Hope, she is exceptionally beautiful. So are we going to cut a cake or throw a party? Dite asked and Anastasia raised her brows.
“For what? She asked.
“To mark her birthday of course, Dite replied.
“No money for that please. The kids fees were just cleared and everyone is broke now, She replied.
“Alright then maybe next year, so no gift for her? Dite asked.
“Dite please, what will a small girl like her do with gifts, let’s wait till she is 3 or 4 years old, Anastasia replied while Dite was silent looking at her.
“What’s wrong with that face? Look, my boss daughter birthday is today and I may not come back home early, take care of things here till I get back, Anastasia said and turned to go in.
“Won’t you even wish her a happy birthday? Or are you just interested in other people birthday party? Dite slowly asked and Anastasia rolled her eyes, approached Dite and got Hope from her.
“Happy birthday my baby girl, live long and prosper. Where are the kids? They need to sing a birthday song for her, Anastasia said and pecked her and Carried Hope to the children room…..
Anastasia arrived at Julia place and joined in the preparation for the birthday.
“Please that salad, my mom loves it with Berries. So make it look good, like very good because am expecting visitors. And the color over there, i don’t like that, put it down immediately. Has the cake decorator arrived yet? Somebody put her on phone immediately! Julia was busy going around making sure things are on ground.
“Can you just calm down Julia? The party will be successful, Anastasia said.
“No you don’t understand, if i don’t follow this people up they will end up doing shit and ruin my daughter birthday. My baby isn’t in school yet, else her classmates would have celebrated with her. But my husband will be coming home with the orphanage, Julia replied.
“Orphanage? What for? Anastasia asked.
“Common, those children barely have such an opportunity to mingle with people. I want them to have fun, have enough to eat and take home with, Julia replied.
“Do you really have to waste such money? Anastasia asked and Patra approached them.
“Ma the cake decorator is on her way, Patra said.
“Oh thats good. Oh my goodness! What about my baby gown I ordered? has it arrived yet? Julia asked.
“Ma it arrived yesterday, i thought i showed you, Patra replied.
“You did? Is it in the baby room? Julia asked.
“Yes ma, Patra replied.
“Anastasia please check it out and see my baby is dressed completely. I’ll call my husband Now to know what’s going on its almost 2pm and its almost time, Julia said taking her phone while Anastasia nodded and went up………
Before Mpho left to work, Dite approached him concerning Hope birthday.
“Dite there is no money please, Mpho replied.
“Really? Just give me a little cash I’ll bake a cake for her, please i beg you, Dite said and Mpho heaved and sluggishly gave her some notes.
“That’s all i have please, He said and left immediately.
Dite added her own money, tied Hope on her back and set to get the ingredients.
She quickly baked a birthday cake, bought some drinks and went round the neighbor hood to invite the little children there telling them about Hope birthday.
By 6pm neither Hope or Anastasia arrived home yet. Few children accepted the invitation and came, in order to send the kids back to their parents early, Dite made the kids together with her sisters cut the cake with Hope.
Mpho arrived home and was surprised to see kids dancing in the sitting room and he wondered what was going on. He held Dite to a corner looking at her,
“How did you do this? He asked.
“Someone had to do something. Your cake and drink is there anyway, I’ll be back, Dite said and left to continue dancing with the children.
Mpho slowly walked up to Hope and for the first time Carried her,
“Happy birthday, he slowly said and Dite saw that.
He kept her down and got into his room………..
