IT’S OKAY TO CRY
Season 2. Episode 7.
“Hello, its Joan calling from Venda, A lady called up the cops after seeing the news.
“Yea we are listening, a cop replied.
“About the missing girl, she looks very familiar to me. The said day she went missing, I remember I was going out from the hospital when I saw a woman coming out from the car with her. Looks like she was very sick and her purse fell which I helped her pick it up before the nurses came to attend to her, The lady said.
“Did you just say a woman? The cop asked.
“Yes a woman and I believe she hasn’t left the hospital yet, she replied.
“Thanks for the information, which hospital exactly? The cop asked and another cop immediately put Mpho on phone telling him the hospital he is to meet them immediately.
“Thank you, thank you, Mpho said and dropped the call and quickly called back Anastasia.
“Hello, she picked up.
“Yea the cops just called, a lady just reported she saw Hope with a woman in a hospital, Mpho said.
“Which Hospital? Anastasia asked taking her bag……….
The doctor already hinted the nurses about Hope situation and they accepted. Monica got scared and left to pick her things up from the hotel which the doctor offered to give her a place to keep them till Hope gets better.
Soon the police walked in and a nurse approached them,
“Good evening gentle men, I hope there’s no problem? She asked.
“There is, ever seen a girl like this here? A cop replied showing her a picture but she shook her head.
“Is that so? But we got a call that a woman rushed in here with her on the same day she went missing. Can you explain that? The cop asked and the nurses looked at themselves confused.
“Yes thats right, a woman saved her life, The doctor replied.
“What happened to her? Mpho asked.
“Come see for yourself, the doctor replied taking them to Hope.
“Hope how are you? What happened to you? Mpho and Anastasia quickly ran to her touching her.
“No, what do you want! Hope shouted shocking everyone.
“Hope i don’t under, don’t you know us? Why are you asking us that? Anastasia asked.
“Where is aunty Monica? I don’t want to go with them. Please I don’t want to go with them! Hope shouted and began to cry whole the cops stood confused.
“I don’t understand, why is she saying that to you? A cop asked.
“I don’t know maybe they did something to her, Anastasia replied looking at the doctor and Monica walked in.
“Aunty! Please don’t let them take me! Hope shouted when she saw her and Monica sat beside her while Mpho and Anastasia stood speechless.
“You have come to carry her right? But she doesn’t want to go with you because you never loved her, why do you want her back? So you’ll continue to maltreat her right? Monica asked.
“Who the h.ell are you and what right do you have over my daughter! Anastasia shouted.
“You lost that right over her when she ran away from home and almost got hit by a car! Monica shouted back.
“I gave birth to her woman and I watched her grow, you better hand her over to us or else……… “Or else what? Will you have said this if she was lying dead? For the main fact you gave birth to her didn’t give you the right to treat her like an outcast. She was your baby when she was in your womb, not anymore because you’ve failed in your parenthood, Monica said getting up to face her and the cops rolled their eyes.
“Wait, are we just going to blab rubbish here after seeing our daughter? What exactly do you want? Money for her treatment right? Don’t worry I’ll pay every dime now stop this nonsense! Mpho shouted.
“I don’t need your money, all I need is the happiness of this girl. Hope who do you want to stay with? Monica asked her.
“Aunty you, I don’t want to go with them, Hope replied.
“But baby why? They are your parents, a cop calmly asked.
“They don’t love me, they treat me bad, make me sleep on the floor, beat and shout on me always and make me do the house work, Hope replied and the cops looked at them..
“Like seriously? A cop asked Mpho and Anastasia who looked at their selves like idiots.
“I think there is a misunderstanding here, i think her step mom does that because I don’t stay with them, Anastasia said.
“Thats right, but you went away with your other kids and left her behind with no calls or visit, is that true? Monica asked.
“Now you shut up and stop meddling in things you know nothing about! Anastasia shouted.
“Ermm sir, you can see for self and hear from the little girl here. Every child need a place where she will be loved and attended to, and I feel the best place for Hope to stay is with this woman here. She may not be her biological mother but she has showed her that true love, the doctor came in.
“What rubbish are you saying? If we didn’t love her will we go looking for her? Mpho asked.
“You only did that to fulfill all righteousness. Your daughter is suffering from Pneumonia, she must have shown some symptoms of that illness before Monica rushed her here, now you claim to love her, did you notice your daughter was not okay? The doctor asked and they were all silent.
“Alright I guess you really love her and its obvious. I’ll go attend to other patients please, the doctor said and left.
“Please I don’t want to go with them, Hope whispered in tears and a cop went nearer to her.
“Do you believe a stranger will take care of you more than your parents? A cop asked and she nodded.
“Please I beg you let me stay with her, Hope replied and he nodded tapping her.
“You will stay with her if thats your wish, he replied.
“What are you saying! Mpho shouted.
“We won’t take this! We will take this to court! Anastasia added.
“That will be a waste of time and money, a little girl already denied you both for a stranger, very shameful i must say. if the court get to hear of how you maltreat her, thats a more serious case for you both. You have seen your daughter and she’s fine, you should accept it and let it go. Am so sorry, we will take our leave now, a cop said and turned to leave.
“Thank you, Monica whispered and Mpho and Anastasia angrily looked at her while Hope held her tight,
“I’m sorry, but if Hope had accepted to go I wouldn’t have insisted. Can we talk about this please? Monica calmly asked and Anastasia smirked.
“Talk about what? Don’t bother, she humiliated us and she is not even worthy to be called a daughter. you can have her for all I care, rubbish! Anastasia said and left the room while Monica looked at Mpho
“Please don’t be mad with the little girl, with time she will come around, she said.
“Tell her never to come bank, i have 6 children now, Mpho replied and left and Hope began to cry.
“Its okay Darling, everything will be alright, Monica said hugging her………….
“Did you hear that? You made Hope sleep on the floor for what reason? Anastasia asked when Mpho came out but he ignored and got into the car but Anastasia hissed and walked away.
“Won’t you come in? Mpho asked.
“Go to h.ell! She shouted.
“How did it go? Yvonne asked when Mpho arrived home but he angrily looked at her,
“I asked you once Yvonne, do Hope sleep on the floor and what did you reply me? Did you make Hope do the house work Yvonne! He shouted on her.
“House work? No, sometimes I make her help me with it not that i leave it for her to do, she replied.
“And make her sleep on the floor? He asked.
“What exactly happened out there and why are you bringing something i don’t understand up? If Hope sleeps on the floor won’t she report that to you? I hate such a talk Mpho, in fact keep what ever happened to yourself I don’t care anymore, Yvonne angrily replied.
“Why won’t you care because she is not your child! That girl humiliated us in front of everyone and asked to stay with a stranger instead telling them just what you always do to her, do you know what that means? Mpho angrily asked.
“Yes, it only means Hope is smart enough to know she wasn’t loved and welcomed in this family, excuse me, Yvonne said and left for her room while Mpho sat down on the sofa rubbing his head angrily………
The doctor returned to Hope room and found her sleeping,
“How did it go? He asked and she told him everything.
“They told her never to go back to them? They just proved a point, the doctor said while Monica looked sad.
“Did I just separate Hope from her family for my own gain? Monica asked.
“Hell no, she chose you over them and the cops have given you to the permission to keep her Even if they take this to court, the judge will have to think about Hope and where she will taken care of Better, stop worrying, the doctor replied.
“Thank you, I dropped my things earlier, she said.
“Yea I saw it, I’ll go take my rest now, The doctor said and left…………
