Just The Beginning ?
Episode twenty three

It’s Monday morning and am in the office finishing up with my cleaning. Angie still hasn’t reported to work yet and I’ll have to clean the office until she’s back. It’s really exhausting working more than usual but what makes it tolerable is the pay. As long as am working for two, I’ll be paid double, I mean who can say no to that!
I made sure to come in earlier than usual today so as not to run into the ” She devil ” as they call her. I was hoping my week would start off good after the unpleasant weekend I just had, but that will not be possible after I woke up to pictures of Lisa and Alex in bed on my phone and a message claiming that Alex is and will always be hers.
What the hell is wrong with that chick?!
I still can’t believe she had the audacity to send the pictures to me! She really believes that am in love with Alex and sending the picture would hurt me in some way, And am indeed hurt!
Am hurt because the only person I considered a friend, is trying to hurt me in every way she can. Why can’t she see that she’s only going to hurt herself more by been with Alex, who doesn’t give a fk about her? She already lost her job because of him and now it’s seems like she’s also loosing her mind.
Lisa is trying to make me upset but am done with all her bullshit. Am not going to let anything she says or does affect me in any way, she can go to he..ll for all I care!
In about thirty minutes am home, already showered and relaxing on the couch. Am home alone since Maya is in school and Rita is working. She recently got a job and she was over the moon about it.
Some seconds later there’s a knock on the door and when i get it, Mike is standing outside a huge smile on his face.
” Hi vee. ”
” Hey….. What are you doing here this early ?”
” I just missed you and thought of dropping by, hope you don’t mind. ”
” Of course I do! I don’t like it when people show up at my house without informing me. ”
” Am sorry….. I didn’t think you’d be upset, but in my defense, i did call you but you weren’t picking up, ” He says walking in and taking a seat.
” You called? but I didn’t…….. Wait, I think i left my phone at the law firm. Shit! Now I have to go back and see that she devil? ” I say talking mostly to myself.
” What she devil? ”
” No one, anyways if you’ll please excuse me, I have to go and get my phone, ” I say gesturing for him to leave.
” I can drive you. I came in my car. ”
” It’s okay, I don’t want to be a bother. ”
” Don’t be silly. You know you can never be a bother, so let’s go? ”
” Okay then, ” I agree but only because it will be more convenient.
We leave the house and in no time we are at the firm. I go straight to cherry hoping that she’d do me the favour of getting me my phone and Mike follows from behind. I really don’t want to run into Merghan, She’s crazy enough to fire me just for forgetting my phone in the office!
” Hey vee, I thought you already left, ” Cherry asks as soon as she sees me.
” I did, but I forgot my phone in the office. Can you please get it for me? ”
” I’d love to but, am way to busy. ”
” Come on, please. I really don’t want to loose my job because of this. ”
” Don’t worry, the big boss is in and there’s no way Merghan will fire you because of this. ”
” Okay, ” I sigh softly.” I’ll be back ,” I tell Mike as i head to the office.
When I get there, Merghan is not at her desk and am kind of glad. I walk to the office and find that the door is slightly open. I knock and wait for a whole minute, but no one answers. I know there’s someone inside since I can here some voices that I can’t clearly make out.
I decide to walk in slowly opening the door and what I see is something that I can never unsee, even if I wanted to so badly.
Merghan is busy riding on someone, who i assume is the boss , on the couch like her life depends on it. I can’t quite see his face since he’s facing her and they are so into it that they haven’t noticed me. No wonder they didn’t here me knock.
I guess those office rumours aren’t rumours after all!
Am just standing there afraid to move a muscle. Am afraid if I do, they’ll surely see me and then I’ll be fired for sure. I have to get out of here, someway!
I turn slowly and try to creep out of the place but suddenly, the big boss yells asking me to stop.
Fk!
” What are you doing here? ” he says and all I can think about is that i know that voice.
Even though am to scared to, I spin slowly and face them.
” George?! I say my voice sounding more like a whisper.
George is looking at me like he just saw a ghost, busy zipping his pants. I can see he’s trying to talk but nothing is coming out of his mouth.
” Who gave you permission to enter ?! Merghan who’s busy throwing daggers at me asks. She’s not even bothering to get dressed.
My mind is still trying to take in all this and I only hear half of what she says.
Now everything is adding up. George is the owner of the the place and that’s why I ran into Alex.
That’s why he thought that i was after his friend!
And why would George tell me he likes me and when he’s already in a relationship?
It’s now clear that he’s just like his friend, and thank God I didn’t fall for his trap.
” Hey, ” Merghan snaps her fingers walking over to me and that brings me back to my senses. ” Get the fuck out! ”
” Don’t talk to her like that! ” George says coming to my defense. ” Vee what are you doing here? ”
” Vee? You know her? ” That’s Merghan. She looks very confused, her eyes playing ping pong from me to George.
” Can you leave us alone Merghan, ” he says his gaze still on me.
” Why? ”
” Just leave! ” he says pointing to the door.
We stand there awkwardly for a few seconds after she leaves. Am still shocked and I don’t know what to say.
” Am sorry for walking in like that but I did knock and no one answered, ” I say, trying to break the silence.
” No need to apologize. I should be the one apologizing about what you just saw,” he says somewhat embarrassed and he should be. Why the hell would he do that in his office and not even lock the door? Disgusting!
” It’s okay, ” That’s all I manage to say and then back to the silence.
” This is so crazy, ” George finally says shaking his head. ” This is the last place I thought I’d ever see you. ”
” Me to. ”
” But it’s kind of a blessing. Now I can see you whenever I want, ” he says with a smile.
” I don’t think your girlfriend would like that. ”
” She’s not my girlfriend. ”
” Oh really, I thought she was after what I just saw. ”
” Well, she’s not. The only person I want to be my girlfriend is you, ” he says and I can’t help but roll my eyes.
Seriously?! The nerve of this guy!
” It’s funny how you claim to like me but your busy fucking your secretary, in your office. Do I look stupid to you, ” I say really pissed off but instantly regret it.
I can’t forget that he’s my boss and anyway I shouldn’t give a damn about whatever he does.
” No, it’s not like that, ” he says nervously .” there’s nothing serious between her and I. ”
” Am really sorry, I didn’t mean to lash out on you like that and you don’t owe me any explanation. ”
” Actually, I feel like i do. I promise you that whatever you just saw will never happen again. ”
” That’s absurd. It’s your life and your office. You can clearly do whatever you want anyways, I just came back for my phone, which I accidentally left behind. ”
” So it’s your huh?” he says taking it out and hands it to me.
” Yes, i have to go now. ”
” I can drive you home if you want. ”
” No thanks, i already have a ride, ” I say walking out.
Am still trying to get the fact that George is my boss, sink in.
