Just The Beginning ?

Episode sixty one

Nick and I are at the hospital ,and am so nervous pacing back and forth, waiting for some news from the doctors. This is the nearest hospital we could find and we’ve been waiting for about an hour now, and no one is telling us anything! Am starting to think that all the doctors here are incompetent!
I’ve been at the receptionist more times than I can count and all she keeps on telling me is be patient and wait for the doctor.
Mike and Peter are here too. The police brought them about forty minutes ago.
I still dont get how they are both still alive!
They better pray they die because I’ll literally make their lives he.. ll if they don’t!
I was so h©rrified when we lost Vee, that I almost got into a fight with Max. I just knew that all this was a bad idea! The only hope I had was jade, and I was so glad I had asked Leo to follow her after she left the workshop.
She agreed to tell me where they were if I didn’t report her to the police, and helped her get out of the country. I had no other choice but to accept.
” Hey, how are they? Are they awake yet? ” Ava asked walking towards me. She’s with my parents and… Lisa!
What is she doing here?!
” I don’t know anything yet! We are still waiting for the doctor, ” I say kind of frustrated.
“Don’t worry, the two sisters are fighters,and they are definitely going to make it, ” Mum says rubbing my shoulder.
” Yeah.. they are the strongest people I know, ” Ava adds.
” I know but i still can’t help but worry. ”
“Is that Max?” Dad asks as i spot him walking over to us.
” Hi Mr and Mrs Jones, ” Max says smiling lightly at them. ” It’s nice to see you again. ”
” Hi Max, ” mum says hugging him. ” Why did you disappear on us? Anyway, am glad you are back.” she says pulling back.
” What are you doing here?” Dad asks.
” Am the officer in charge of Vees case.”
” Speaking of which, what’s happening with Peter and Mike? And did you already get that Paul guy and all the other accomplices?”I ask.
“Yes, we already have Paul and all the others in our custody, and Peter just passed away. Mike is still in critical condition and the doctors aren’t sure if he’s going to make it. ”
” It’s good to know that justice has been served already ,” Ava say with a sigh and I agree with her. Atleast Vee and Maya will live in peace now.
They can finally have their new beginning, and they won’t be looking over their shoulders anymore.
” Can I talk to you for a second,” Max asks taking a few steps back and I follow him.
” What do you want to talk about? Is everything okay? ”
” Yes, it’s not about the case. I want to apologize for what I did to you,” he says and I roll my eyes.
” This is not the place or the time to talk about what happened between us. ”
” Actually it is, Stacy seduced me Alex! Am not saying that am not to blame because I am. All am saying is that am really sorry for falling in her trap , I should have been faithful to our friendship .”
” Yes, you should have! ” I say angrily.”You were the last person I expected to do that to me Max! Anyways, we can’t change what happened and your apology won’t change anything,” I say walking back to my family.
” The doctor is here, ” Nick says rushing to him and we all follow.
” Am sorry to keep you all waiting but I come bearing good news, ” The doctor say with a smile and I let out a huge breath. ” Fortunately, the girls didn’t inhale a lot of smoke and they’ll be fine. Maya is actually awake, and Violet and the baby are totally fine, though she’s still unconscious.We still have to keep an eye on them, and so they’ll have to spend the night here. ”
” Wait…what baby? ” I ask in confusion.
” You didn’t know?! ” The doctor asks looking at our confused faces. ” Vee is five weeks pregnant.”
Vee is going to have my baby?!
Am speechless right now! I have this serious amount of emotion that I can’t comprehend, and my heart is jumping up and down with joy and excitement!
” Vees pregnant?! ” Lisa is the first to ask. She’s utterly shocked! And she’s not the only one.
” Yes.. And now you have nothing over her! “Ava says all smiles,squealing with excitement, giving me a tight hug. ” Congratulations bro! You are finally going to have a baby with Vee!”
” Vee and Maya will be over the moon about this!”Nick adds.
” I still can’t believe this!” I say with excitement. ” Am finally going to have a baby with the love of my life! ”
” Yes Alex, I guess your lie turned out to be true after all,” Mum says.” Am so happy for you.”
” Thanks mum, can we go see them, ” I ask the doctor.
” Of course you can,” he says with a smile excusing himself.
In seconds we are all in Maya’s room expect for Lisa, and am not sure where she disappeared to. We decided to see Maya first since she’s awake and share with her the good news.
” Hi Maya, how are you doing?”Ava asks giving her a hug.
” I feel fine, ” she says smiling sadly. ” Am sorry guys, I didn’t mean for all this to happen. ”
” Comeon Maya! You know it’s not your fault, we are to blame for not telling you the truth about Mike,” I say placing my hand on top of hers.” But all that it s over now. ”
“Alex is right Maya. Let’s just be happy that the nightmare is over and you and Vee are fine , ” Mum says.
” Yes, but am still curious as to what made you go over to Mike’s apartment,” Ava says.” Why did you not tell me anything? ”
“Well… he called with the pretense of planning a surprise party for my sister. He said that he was with Nick and they needed my help and I couldn’t say no to that. I shouldn’t have known something was wrong when he asked me not to tell anyone, but I was just to excited to see it, ” Maya says with a sigh.
” Wait.. Vees birthday is coming up! When is it?! ” I ask.
” It’s tomorrow and the sad part is that she’ll be in the hospital on her birthday.”
” Don’t be sad, we can still make surprise her even at the hospital. It’s her first birthday with us and we are going to make it as memorable as possible,right bro? ” Ava says smiling at me.
” Right, anyway ,we have some very good news for you Maya. ”
” I love good news, ” she says with a smile.” What is it ?”
” Well.. Am going to be a father,”i say and she looks at me as if am going crazy. ”
” Alex.. ” she calls.
” Yeah.. ”
” You know that I’ve not lost my memory, right ?” she say creasing her eyebrows. ” I still remember that Lisa is pregnant with your child. ”
” Am sorry, I should have been specific. ” I say shaking my head. “What I meant was that vee is pregnant! You are going to be an aunt soon! ”
” My sister is pregnant?! That’s not good news, it’s great news! You two are going to have the cutest baby ever! Does Vee know about it yet? ” she asked her eyes shinning with excitement.
She’s actually more excited than I am and am glad that the news cheered her up.
” No.. She’s not up yet, ”
” Good! I think we should give her the good news on her birthday. She’ll be so happy !” Maya says sitting up on the bed.
” You are so right, let’s just hope she’ll be awake by tomorrow .” I’ll go check on her, you guys should keep Maya company,” I say.
” Okay.. tell us the second she’s awaje.” That’s Maya.
” You can count on that, ” I say walking out and straight to Vees room.
I walk over to her bed and lay down beside her. She’s sleeping so peacefully but I still want her to wake up soon. I can’t wait to share the incredible experience of having a baby with her!
I can’t wait to see her beautiful eyes light up with happiness! When I tell her the good news.
I stare at her for a while caressing her cheeks .
“She’s so beautiful! ” I think to myself, smiling like a maniac.
I look at her beautiful lips and slowly lean over and give her a soft kss.
I just can’t help myself.
I watch with a smile as she slowly opens her eyes and looks at me.
” You are finally awake, Vee!” I say kssing her forehead. ” How do you feel? ”
” Who are you?” she asks, giving me a confused look.
” It’s me.. Alex. Don’t you remember me? ” I ask, not sure what’s happening.
” No.. I don’t know you, ” she says moving away from me, a scared look on her face.
