I turned to find a pretty lady by the door, A lady which I recognised immediately
Natasha stone, Brian stone sister and Micheal wife
“Oh, I must have startled you right? Am sorry, The door was opened and I heard what you were saying”She told me as she walked in and close the door properly behind her
What did she hear? Did she hear everything I said now, I thought starring at the beautiful lady who stood by the doorway
“Are you there Dora?”She asked when I gave no response
“Yes,Sorry my mind drifted some where else, what exactly did you hear me say”
“About having no choice at all, I found it odd to hear the great Dora Baxter saying she have no choice,You are some one who doesn’t care about a thing and just go for it not caring if you hurt………oh my mouth is running again” She said using a hand to cover her mouth
“No, It’s no problem, I…. What you said just now is true, The way you define me I mean and what I was saying about having no choice means nothing, Don’t pay attention to it” I told her giving her a little smile
“Wow” She said starring at me
“What is Wow?” I asked
“Your smile, You hardly smile Dora, Since I first met you, I haven’t seen you smile, This is the first time am seeing it” She said
“Oh”I said giving her another smile
“You should just smile at my brother like that, Am sure that he would fall for you immediately”
Just hearing her talk about the prince brought me back to reality
“Why are you here?”I asked lightly
“To see you and also because my brother asked me to come check up on you, It’s a secret,So don’t tell anyone” She said
“To check up on me?”
“Well you were in the hospital and he hardly had time to come see you, So he asked me to come in his stead”
“Oh that’s it” I replied
“Hope you are fully well, After the scandal and the accident, Have been worried, I wanted to come see you at the hospital but since we weren’t that close I didn’t dare and My husband told me not to go”
The husband part made me stare at her ” Your husband?” I asked
“Yes, His name is Michael, He is here with me and he is downstairs with your mom, You weren’t interested in anything that concerned me or my family so I never got to introduce you both, I can do so now right?”
The thought of seeing Michael again made me nervous and scared
“No, No” I said
“Why ? ”
“A…..a….am a bit sick and I need to rest, I would like it if you give me the chance to” I made an excuse quickly
“Okay, You need to recover quickly for the wedding, It’s so good to talk to you without fighting, Some how that accident did you good” She said touching my hand gently before leaving the room
I sighed heavily, Just knowing that Micheal was some where in this house made me feel unsafe
I prayed that he leave without coming to see me………..
BRIAN POV
The restaurant was empty and I sat on one of the empty seats waiting for her to show up
I took out my phone and read her last message
“We have to talk Brian, It’s urgent, You pick the place and time and I will be there”
Ever since I read the text,Have been wondering what she has to say to me
Hope it’s not what am thinking, I thought as I threw my phone on the table
“Your Highness, Your guest have arrived ” One of the royal escort said
“Let her in” I replied immediately
He went off and soon I saw her walk in , Just as always, She is very beautiful and her smile, Her smile always made my heart flutter, That was why I fell for her in the first place.
She is the epitome of beauty and fragility, Any time I see her, I have an urge to always protect her
“You must be wondering why I asked to see you right?”She asked
“Ever since I got your message, Have been wondering what it is?”
“Well I better tell you”
“If it’s going to be something bad, Then I think you shouldn’t say it”
She smiled gently and took my hand in hers
“Am afraid it’s going to be some thing bad” She said
“What is it Nina?” I asked holding her hand tightly
“We have to break up”
“I told you already that that is not necessary, I love you and even though I have to go through this marriage, I will only love you and no one else”
“Have been hearing that for the past three months, I just can’t take it anymore Brian, I love you too but am not willing to be your mistress while you are married to Dora”
“Am not asking you to be my mistress Nina, All I need is for you to wait for me, Once the merger is complete, I plan on getting a divor……….”
“Would that even be possible? Will your wife be willing to leave you? What if she falls for you and refuse to give you the divorce? I can’t wait that long Brian, I would rather end things now than to wait for you to be rid of your future bride” She said with tears in her eyes
“But you can’t just give up, Not now Nina”
” I have to, If I want to get out of this without breaking apart, I have to give up now, You are a prince, The next king to the throne and am…….. am just the daughter of a poor cook, It can never be Brian, It won’t work” She said standing up
I stood up and drew her to me, Holding her close
“Don’t go, Let’s not end it here”I said as I felt the tears threatening to come
“We have to Brian, I love you but I have to give you up, Am sorry” She said and pulled out of my arms, Running out of the restaurant
I sat down on the chair, Still not able to believe that the only girl have ever loved has just left and it’s all because of this darn marriage.
“It can never be Brian, Am just the daughter of a poor cook, I love you but I have to give you up”
Just remembering her words made me hurt a lot .
I met Nina when she worked along side her mom in the palace as the cook.
I had been cold to her at first but then she made me see things differently, She made me know what loving some one is, She is the only one I will ever love and now she is leaving, Leaving me to face this alone.
” Your Highness?” I looked up to find my escort starring at me
“What?” I asked
“Its just that I came to remind you that we are expected in the Baxter’s mansion, To talk about the wedding and all”
The darn wedding, it’s the main reason why Nina has refused to wait for me
“Should I just cancel the appointment?” He asked as he looked at me uncertainly
” No don’t, No matter what I have to be there, The wedding has to go on” I said gently
