Episode 25
~Xander~
I stared at her cute caramel eyes and her upturned nose as i drew closer to her. I wish i could just touch her silky hair and run it through my fingers.
“Xander, Yo”. Adrian shouted from the living room snapping me out of my thoughts.
I quickly backed away from her and walked to the living room seeing Adrian all dressed up.
Then Ashley came out of the kitchen. Oue eyes met and she quickly looked away.
She walked over to Adrian. “Where you going looking like a clown?”.
I laughed.
Adrian frowned. “A little compliment wouldn’t hurt”.
She shrugged. “Where you going?”.
“Xander and i are going somewhere, i’ll be back late, don’t wait up”. Adrian told her kssing her forehead.
“Lets bounce”. Adrian said going outside.
I walked to the door and turned back to face Ashley. “Bye”.
No response.
“Bye”. I repeated myself.
She gave me a tight smile waving rather reluctantly.
I smiled walking out to the driveway getting into the car.
“Where are we off to?”. I ask.
“J.R’s house, he’s my partner for the english essay”. Adrian replied starting the engine buckling his seatbelt.
He drove out of the house swiftly as the automatic gates closd behind him.
I tapped my head frustratingly. “Lily is my partner and we haven’t done anything”.
He shrugged. “The least Mrs.Haley would do is give detention”.
“You sound like its a good thing”.
He smiled. “You could skip”.
“Who’s Ashley’s partner”. I ask as i change the subject.
“Miguel, i think”.
I became surprised. “Miguel? You can’t possibly let Ashley go do a project with him all by herself”.
Adrian grunted. “I know”.
“Miguel’s friends with Axel so he’s definitely up to no good”. I added.
He stopped the car by the sidewalks. “I know how to take care of my own sister, okay”.
“I’m just concerned”.
“Xander, there’s something bugging me off. Adrian says. “I think, i don’t know, man. You don’t like Ashley, do you?”.
I stare at Adrian in shock and i quickly try to recall the recent events to understand what made him think that. Sure, i think Ashley’s cute and i sorta like her but i never told him that.
Yikes! The fact that Adrian seems so upset by this sets me off a little. So what if i was? Doesn’t he trust me to respect his sister? What have i ever done to make him think i wouldn’t treat Ashley right? And where is all this coming from anyway?
“No Ian, i’m not into Ashley. What the heck? What made you think that?”.
I just lied to Adrian but i think its for the best.
Adrian looks down but i’m sure he believes me. “I don’t know, man. You two were a lot closer back then in junior high and you’ve always teased her when we were younger, so i thought ….”.
I cut him off. “You thought wrong, I thought you wanted me to hang. Something happened to me last night but you wouldn’t wanna hang to know how i am, would you?”. I say.
I’m really angry that he’s treating me like this.
“Hey i’m sorry, Xander, but i need to look out for Ashley. And i don’t know …”.
“What?”.
“Nothing. Forget this”. He said reestarting the car driving.
Shoot. I have this to add up to my pile of worries too. And what if i did like Ashley?
Whats the problem with that? Wait … What if i do like her?
