Karan and her siblings were still waiting when a doctor walk up to them
“Is any of you up to 18 and above,” the doctor asked
“Am 18,” Karan replied
“Alright, come with me,” the doctor said and she followed immediately
Getting to the office he asked her to sit down and she did
“There were big complications and we were able to save her but unfortunately she’s in a coma,” the doctor said
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She asked
“Your mother is in a coma and we don’t know when she will wake up,” the doctor replied
“Mom,” she mumbled slowly
“Are you alright?” The doctor asked
“Yeah am fine,” she replied and walked out of his office
She met her siblings by the door
“What happened?” Eddy asked staring at her
“Karan, what happened?” Olivia added when she didn’t say anything
She was silent
“Are you happy now?” She turns to Olivia
Taking them by surprise
“What do you mean? Is mom dead?” Olivia asked with fear
“I asked a question?” She said
“Karan you’re scaring me,” Eddy said
“Olivia I said, are you happy now? mom is finally away and you will have to do what you want. Huh? Are you happy that she’s laying down there unconscious all because of your big mouth? Huh?” She shouted
“I didn’t do anything,” Olivia replied gently
“It’s all your fault, you can’t control your big mouth for just one minute, one minute Olivia, now how am I going to take care of you two? Huh?” She asked
“Am sorry, I thought mom put something in Dad’s food,” Olivia apologize
“Since when did you become a detective? huh? Now look what you cause, it’s only a sleeping pill cos she was having a double mind about that mnster, she only wanted to se.duce him and take his bI.ood sample before the cops arrive,” she said
“I thought…..”
“You should be happy cos this is what you have always wanted, freedom! Now you can do anything you want with your life cos I don’t care anymore, and from today henceforth never call my name or say a word to me again if not you will see the other side of me,” she added and grabbed Eddy’s hand
“Karan, please am sorry,” Olivia said running after her
“You should go find your father cos you two will be good together, and also tell him that am changing my name to Karan Walker. Am 18 now and I can do what I want, he’s not my father anymore,” she said and left
“Karan, don’t you think you’re making a mistake?” Eddy asked looking back at Olivia
“The mistake has already been made so accept it, once we get home pack your things cos we are leaving,” she replied
