MAMA, I MADE IT!?
Episode 18.
Still outside I saw them walked in and I left the entrance to meet with them,
“You better have a good reason you brought us back Purity, what’s wrong? Charity asked.
“Welcome, please come see for yourself, I said taking their hands inside and let them in.
Charity shouted and ran out while Alfred as a guy stayed put and squatted beside him,
“Have you examined him? Do you have gloves here? He asked.
“Yea I do, I replied giving him new gloves and he put it on and turned him to have a clearer view of him. I was surprised he didn’t’ bother to ask me what happened first before anything, so I went out to meet Charity,
“Seriously Purity? She asked.
“Seriously what? Aren’t you troubled for me? I asked.
“You called me to see this? You know I can’t stand such a sight you should know better, she said.
“You are a medical student Charity, start getting use to this, I said and Alfred came out to meet us.
“Sometimes I wonder how she got admitted in the first place, but Purity what happened in there? He asked.
“I can’t really tell, I came back after dropping you two off to see this, I replied.
“Your mother did this? But why? Charity asked.
“And what was he doing here in the first place? Alfred asked.
“You know when I first came here to see my mom, I saw him almost raping her, I think he came for the same reason, I replied.
“But I saw this in his pocket, Alfred said and showed us a knife.
“I think that made your mom defended herself, he said and the knife wasn’t mine.
“That knife isn’t mine, but what is he bringing the knife for? I asked and looked at my mom which they also did.
“I think your mom will answer that question, or has she ever killed someone before? He asked.
“No I don’t think she has, in fact she hasn’t, he must have threatened her somehow with that knife that led to this, but now what are we going to do with his body? Because that’s where I’m more worried about, I said.
“Tell this to the police what else? Charity replied.
“Who has such a time to do that? I mean that’s a long process and what are we going to tell them that your mom killed a man? He asked.
“In self defense, there’s a prove of a knife with him and the victim is mentally ill so? Charity asked and Alfred shook his head.
“Look this is Nigeria and somehow somehow money will be needed, this is not just speaking English when we are talking about Nigerian police, he said.
“So now what do you suggest we do? Soon dusk may fall on us, I said.
“It will be best it falls on us, look Purity I know you have a soft heart but you can’t blame yourself for what happened because he brought this to himself and you have to be strong to make the hardest decision.
I suggest we dump him on the road so it will look like a car ran him over, with his wounds it will be easier to believe though , he said and I shook my head not okay with that idea.
“Even if I’m to accept this Alfred, are we going to hold him down to the junction without any one knowing we are carrying a corpse? Charity asked.
“That’s not a problem, I can lend a car to do this job, and everything will die off without us spending a dime or anyone knowing or even speaking plenty of grammar, he said and I heaved.
“Even as it looks so simple its still risky, what if someone sees us? Charity asked and I cleaned my face and felt so weak.
What has just happened made me recovered but my body was so weak that I thought I might faint already and Charity touched me.
“What exactly are we going to do now? Maybe I can just go tell the villagers what has happened, I said.
“What if his family members are around, will they take it that lightly? Alfred asked
“What took him to a mentally ill person in the first place? She attacked him in her house and she stand a good ground on this case, Charity said.
“And then your mom will be known as a murderer can you stand it? Alfred asked and I looked at him speechless.
My mom is still not accepted by the villagers, and what will happen now when the people knows she is capable of killing someone? I thought about it and looked at Alfred.
‘I won’t risk my mom image on this, I know my mom will get well someday and I don’t want this case to come up somehow that she once killed someone, I said.
“Then you accept we dump his body on the road? Charity asked and I nodded.
“You have the final say, Charity said.
“I’ll go now but I’ll be back, let me go get a car but please I’m begging you remain calm till i return, he said and we nodded.
“Take Care, we said and he left and I turned to see my mom eating the fruits that was brought to me like what ever is happening wasn’t her concern.
Charity went to the side and brought out dry palm trees branch from the bush and spread it to sit down a distance from the hut,
“Come sit, because i don’t think i will go near the hut again, she said and I slowly sat down with her.
“Sorry about this, I know you should be in the hostel by now, I said.
“Its okay Purity,what are friends for? She asked and touched me but I was sweaty.
“I asked if you took pain relieves and you ignored the question, you’re still sick Purity, she said.
“What do you want me to do with what has happened? Okay what if I was in school and I tiredly return in the evening to meet such a scene. Probably as I saw my mom run out so terrified, someone may decide to come in to see what pursued her and saw this, what would they have done to my mom without my absence? I’m so shocked to my bones Charity and I just wish this nightmare can just finish, I said and she kept my head on her shoulder.
“Its okay friend Alfred will figure out a way and it will be over, after all who will know it was your mother? Everything will be fine okay, she said patting me and my stomach made noises.
“Hungry? She asked and I nodded.
“I had no appetite to eat and I was thinking I’ll do that when i return from seeing you off, I replied.
“Let’s go get something to eat then, she said
“Where? There’s no place except you go to the junction, I said.
“Then let’s take snacks, she said.
“I don’t want to leave this place please because if i do, my mom will surely follow me out and I don’t want her out, I said.
“I don’t know anywhere around I would have go get you something, can you direct me around? She asked.
“Charity just forget it i don’t even have the appetite after what i just saw, i said.
“Me too, I’m wondering if i will sleep this night, gosh! She exclaimed cleaning her face while I was busy worrying about mine…………

It was past 7pm and Alfred was not yet back, we got worried as his Line wasn’t reachable and Charity needed to go back.
“Friend I think you have to start going, its late already, I said to her.
“And what about you? But what happened Alfred isn’t here yet? I don’t want to believe he had the guts to abandon us here when he promised to come back, she angrily said.
“That’s why you need to go, I can take Care of myself, i said.
“And that’s a lie, she said and a car drove in.
We stood up immediately and Alfred came out,
“What happened? Where the hell did you go to? Charity quickly asked.
“You think i went to hell to get this? He asked back.
“Your line wasn’t reachable and we were worried, i calmly said with my heart relaxed he came back as he promised.
“Yea maybe I really went to hell. I’m sorry i kept you girls waiting but i had to whine my friends to run away with their car, we drove down to a place there wasn’t network and I’m just back after dropping them off at home, so hectic, he replied.
“I understand and sorry for the stress, I said.
‘Thank you, so i hope you girls did nothing while i was away? He asked.
“We sat here waiting for you of course, what do you expect us to do? Charity replied with a frown.
“Okay this is what is going to happen, the road is busy now but by 10-11pm the roads should be clear a bit. We will take him in not inside the boot but just at the back seat…….. “What! Charity shouted cutting him short.
‘What what? He asked.
“If he will be at the back seat where will we sit? She asked.
“At the back also to hold him so that when we get to a clear place, we will just open the door and quickly push him out and speed off simple, he said.
“Ho ho ho you must be kidding me, I won’t hold him maybe Purity can but i am not doing that, Charity said.
“Common stop this, what if you studied human Anatomy? Not that we are not going to study that soon, he said.
“And i didn’t study that and i won’t do what you want me to do, she replied.
“Is it possible i hold him alone while you drive? I asked tired with the talking.
“I can drive, why not he hold him instead so he can push him out himself, Charity said.
“You can drive? I and Alfred coincidentally asked.
“Yes of course, has that solved the problem? She asked back.
“yes and no, if only you wont put us into the face of truck in the process, Alfred said.
“You wish, you’re just surprised i can drive that’s it, she said laughing.
“Okay you ladies can stay in front and I’ll take care of the rest. It will be better i hold him instead so I’ll be be careful the car doesn’t get stained with blood, he said.
“So we aren’t going now? I asked.
“Yea, by 11, he replied and I looked at Charity.
“well that means I’ll be sleeping here, but please I’m very hungry i can even touch my intestines, she said.
“As if i knew I got food for us, he said opening the door and brought out bags and gave me 2,
“1 for your mom, he said.
“Thank you so much, I said and left to where my mom was sitting while he turned on the car headlights to give us light to eat…………
