MAMA, I MADE IT!?
Episode 19.

After eating I got into the car and eventually slept off there as we Waited for 11pm.
I felt a tap on my cheek and I opened my eyes to see its Charity,
“Is it time? I asked and she nodded and yawned, looks like she slept off too and we saw Alfred dragging the dead body on the ground coming.
I wanted helping him out but I was too weak,
“Are your eyes clear to drive? I asked Charity.
“Yea with my water, she replied and I came out from the back seat when Alfred approached.
“Give me a hand please, Alfred said and Charity looked at me,
“Okay, I said and we carried him in…. I couldn’t believe it was me Purity carrying a dead body, but what can I do? I couldn’t help it and I don’t blame Charity for still being weak because this is not her cross.
“Where’s my mom? I asked him.
“She’s sleeping, he replied and I went in to confirm and close the door behind and sat with Charity at the front.
“Please madam open your eyes and drive o, Alfred said to Charity.
“Sshhhh stop disturbing the sleeping man, Charity said.
“He’s listening to you sef, Alfred said.
“Ohhh stop na before I’ll leave this car for you, Charity said and I was quiet shivering in me and wondering how a serious thing like this becomes a joke, and with the way Alfred is so relaxed makes me wonder what is giving him the guts.
I checked the time and saw it was past 11pm,
“The road should be clear by now, please let’s start going, I said and Charity breathed in and kicked the car on.
Surprisingly when we got to the junction it was still busy, in fact people were still selling and my throat was dry.
“Is this real life? Charity asked shocked.
“I never knew this place is so busy by this time, is it ghosts selling or what? I asked.
“Like the one behind huh? Alfred asked laughing and I swallowed.
“That wasn’t funny you know and don’t forget I’m behind the wheels, Charity seriously said.
“Keep driving, Alfred said to Charity and we kept going to where it will be clear.
Holy God we saw a check point and Charity took a sudden break immediately in the middle of the road as we didn’t know how to reverse,
“Charity be calm okay, calm down, Alfred said and my eyes was filled with tears already.
“Keep going, he said as a loud horn was heard behind us but Charity couldn’t move. Her hands were just glued to the wheel with her breathing fast, and the horn continued and drivers began shouting at us angrily that a police man drew near to see what’s going on.
I cried seriously and closed my eyes tight as the police man approached despite the hitting on the car, then I heard Alfred voice shouting outside saying Charity is an Asthmatic patient and all that.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Alfred taking Charity by her hand to sit with me, while he quickly took over the wheel apologizing to everyone and drove off in the name of getting her inhaler.
He stopped at a place everywhere was dark and quiet and he looked at us,
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know what to do again I was so scared and confused, Charity shakily said and he heaved covering his head on the wheel.
I couldn’t find my voice as I was still trying to get back every drop of my blood that dried few minutes ago.
“You almost fucked us up! You almost messed up Charity what’s wrong with you! Alfred screamed out in a way I’ve never seen before and we shook.
“Oh just stop! What happened few minutes ago shook everyone, I was scared myself to my bones and you won’t blame her for being that terrified. We are not you and this isn’t a funny or easy matter as you think, there was a check point before us with a dead man behind and you expect her to keep on driving, did you plan of disappearing into thin air when the police men approaches us or something? My voice came out finally.
“Is that all you can say? What if i didn’t put up that drama? He asked and i swallowed looking the other way.
“For once you two should listen to me, when I say drive, drive!, he said and opened the door, went out and pushed the man from the car seat down and shut the door behind, he got in and speed off and I breathed in sweating heavily.
The drive back home was a quiet one as we sat down like mouse and will never forget the spot that almost killed us before our time.
When we got home it was 1:23am and i was glad its somehow over.
“Thank you, I calmly said to him but he didn’t say anything.
He is still so angry with what happened and I looked at Charity,
“Where are we going to sleep? She asked me.
“In is not conducive, we will stay here in the car, he replied rather.
“Okay I’m sorry I won’t take the back seat please, Charity said and Alfred opened the car and left to the back while Charity transfered herself to where he sat.
“Thank you, she gently said but he ignored her.
“Good night friend and thanks so much for everything, I said holding her hand but she nodded and yawned.
“Goodnight, she weakly said………

The next morning it was my mom hit on the car where I sat that woke me up, I opened my eyes and saw it was morning and the rest was still sleeping.
She hit the car again before I could say anything and Alfred woke up,
“I’m sorry she woke you up that way, good morning, I said to him and Charity slowly opened her eyes.
“Morning, he replied coldly and checked his phone and opened the door in a hurry,
“Shit! I was to return the car by 5, he said and i came out too.
“But its just past 6, I said.
“Its not just past 6 i need to go now, he said and Charity slowly came out with a sleepy face looking at him as he was about to make a call.
“Guy good morning no vex abeg where you dey? We heard him asked on phone.
“Okay I dey come now no vex abeg,he said and dropped the call.
“Are you coming with me so I’ll drop you off? He asked Charity and she confusedly looked at me not knowing what to reply.
“It’s okay please go alright, I said and she got into the car with him and he drove off without saying anything to me.
I sighed and looked at my mom folding her arms with a frowning face and I just passed her inside without saying a word to her.
With the stress she put us through to cover up her mess and almost made me have a fight with my friends, I was so angry and embarrassed at the same time that I don’t care if she is frowning or not.
The house was scattered with blood stains all over, I just hissed knowing the work i have to do and laid down on the bed to have a sound sleep…….
The car already gave me back pains and i needed to straighten my bones.
Laying down on the bed looking at the blood before me and how he was thrown outside reflected on my head.
I sat up immediately cleaning my face with my hands shivering.
My heart wasn’t still settled and I kept worrying for no just reason until my phone began to ring.
I picked it up immediately,
“Hi, arrived yet? I asked.
“Not yet, he dropped me at a place to find myself home, she replied.
“I’m so sorry Charity I don’t even know what to say, trust me i didn’t plan for the stress, inconvenience and everything to happen, I said.
“Friend its okay, she said.
“How is Alfred? Is he still angry with me? I asked.
“With us rather, He didn’t even talk to me when he was driving, he just stopped somewhere and said i should find my way to the school and he drove off like that, she replied.
“oh God, he must really be angry, i said pacing around.
“Just forget it, he will come around soon alright when he’s calm, I think a taxi is coming, she said.
“be careful alright and call me when you arrive, I said and dropped the call and called up Alfred but he didn’t pick up twice.
I sat down tiredly on the bed tired of everything and regretted why i accepted to stay with my mother in the first place, maybe i would have saved my self this mess.
Everything became so sour to me and i saw no happiness here anymore.
To make it worst my mom was behaving in strange and annoying ways recently I don’t understand.
That wasn’t my mom last week, and i can’t still place my mind on the reason why she was able to kill someone that boldly despite he called for it.
That was a clear indication my mom wasn’t getting better as i thought and she need to be taken to the hospital quickly before she puts me in more trouble.
The thought of that made me checked my account balance to know the amount i saved from the up keeps Charity dad do send for me.
“I don’t even know the cost of a psychiatric treatment to begin with, i said and Charity call came in.
“Hi arrived? I asked immediately.
“Yea i just did, the gateman is looking at me strangely though i understand, she replied.
“Just ignore and take your bath okay, I don’t think I will attend lectures today, i said.
“Me too I’m damn tired and I want to sleep this tiredness off, she said.
“I understand and Thank you so much for yesterday again I’ll never forget that, I seriously said.
“Please friend its okay,talk to you later bye, she said and dropped the call and i suddenly felt my body itching maybe because i mentioned bathing.
And considering the way i was all around a dead body yesterday, i quickly rushed out to take my bath before anything and hoped it will make me feel better at least………….
