Today was the day I was finally getting a much deserved break after months of continuous lectures, tests and numerous hours of waitressing.

I had been saving up for this little adventure for quite awhile now.

Not willing to get up from my cozy bed just yet, I snuggled into my bed.I left my mind wander thinking about how I was finally going to check out Skydiving from my bucket list. I’ve never tried it before, thanks to my ever cautious parents. When I was younger I would always plead, beg and cry to them about letting me try it at least once but they would always say it’s too dangerous to even consider. So today, I was finally taking the leap both literally and figuratively.

Cuddling into my pillow, I sigh blissfully. This was the start of me living my life on my own terms.

Deciding to get up and actually start the day, I remove the blankets from over me feeling more refreshed than I had in a long while.

I reach for my phone in my nightstand, unlock it I am swamped with notifications.

I had fifteen missed calls from Mary along with a couple messages demanding to know what the h.eck am I doing.

I decided to call her considering Mary never call unless it’s important (most of the time).

She picked up on the first ring.

“Why don’t you even answer your phone? Better yet, why do you even have the damn thing?” Mary yelled causing me to pull my phone away from my ear.

Cringing at the decibel level, I apologize “I’m sorry, I was asleep.”

“Well today’s plans are canceled, even the weather is against you living your life for once,” Her voice sounded much calmer than before.

Moving towards the window, I pulled back the curtains to look. I was met with a dark gloomy sky. It wasn’t just rain, it was a full on downpour. Rain and hail hammered the ground while the wind was it’s howling mistress.

That just goes to show that I sleep like a dead person.

“Don’t tell me you didn’t know it was raining.” Mary said, letting out a chuckle.

“I was asleep” I repeated, stressing the word.

“Not surprising, You will sleep through the apocalypse if given a chance. Remember what happened when Kathrine and I came to your place and you didn’t wake up no matter what we tried? ” She laughed.

“Anyways, Get your a$$ moving. Mikey and I are picking you up in ten minutes,” She said bringing me out of my thoughts.

Before I could protest the idea she hung up.

Typical. Ten minutes? Pfft, I take thirty minutes just to shower.

Considering the bad weather, we were all holed up inside Nate’s house. His parents were loaded and he was a single child. His mother refuses to let him move out unless he get married and considering he’s never been in a relationship for longer than a week that’s not happening anytime soon.

“Is the alcohol ready?” Jace asked.

“Yes,” Emily said setting down the final shots.

We all had a glass of whiskey and a couple shots of tequila in front of us.

We were about to play never have I ever and the rules were pretty simple. If you have done the deed mentioned in that round, then you have to drink.

We were sitting in a circle. The guys-Jace, Nate, Oliver and Mikey and the girls-Lily, Emily, Mary and I were all huddled up together.

“And I can’t believe you still have to steal alcohol from your parents.” Oliver retorted.

Nate threw a pillow at Oliver. Which smacked him right on his face.

“Stop it you two!” Emily exclaimed, “We have random questions written down in these chits, ” She pointed to the center.

Where there was a bowl full of neatly folded chits of paper.

“You pick one when your turn comes and read it out aloud.” Emily continued.

Mary picked the first chit.

“Never have I ever pretended to laugh at a joke I didn’t get,” Mary read out.

We all took a sip.

“I’m pretty sure, we can all agree that Nate can’t joke to save his life.” Jace joked.

He got a pillow to his face too.

Next it was Mikey’s turn to pick.”Never have I ever Googled my own name to see what comes up,” He read.

Jace, Oliver and Emily all took a sip.

“Never have I ever scared my self by looking in the mirror,” Jace read.

I took a shot while chuckling thinking about lil Kathy’s stunt.

“Oliver just drink it, everyone knows that you are ugly,” Nate yelled.

Lily giggled while I picked my card.

“Never have I ever dressed as the opposite sx,” I read.

Mikey and Nate both took a sip.

“No surprise with Mikey but I really didn’t expect that from you Nate,” Oliver said.

“It was for a school play, okay?” He grumbled.

“Aww, were you the little princess?” Oliver said throwing pop corn at Nate.

In turn, getting smacked by the pillow again.

“Never have I striped in front of people,” Emily read, ignoring their banter.

Mikey and I took a sip.

“I was drunk, blame it on Mary,” I said defensive.

I turned to look at Mikey.

“What?” He said eyebrow raised.

“If it pays why not?” He answered.

We all laughed at his reaction.

“Never have I ever had a erotic sex dream of some one in this room,” Oliver read out.

The room grew tense as everyone contemplated whether to be truthful or not.

It’s like deciding whether it was really worth it to drink or not. We all wanted to see who was going to drink.

Nate took a sip. We all turned to look at him stunned.

“Who was it? When? What was it about? Spill it out Nate,” Marry asked, eyes wide open waiting for the tea.

“It was a long time ago,” Nate whined.

“That doesn’t answer the question,” Oliver insisted.”I was fourteen okay, get over it!” He yelled.

Through out the game Mary tried to pry the name from Nate but he was not willing to give up that easily, not even when she threatened him with tickles.

By the time the game was over we were all wasted, lest to say we all got to know each other pretty darn well.

Considering our current state of drunkenness, Nate booked us an Uber and Mary decided to tag along and crash at my place for the time being.

My roommate Allyson will not be too happy about the situation considering all the stunts drunk Mary has pulled.

Dredging into my room, I picked up my phone from my bed nearly tripping over air, I checked my notifications since I was bored out of my mind.

You’d think that I would have learnt my lesson after nearly sexting my boyfriend Erik’s cousin the last time I was wasted. Hey but in my defense though, their names sounded very Similar.

I was surprised when I looked at my phone. I had fifty missed calls and ten text messages from my mom asking me to call her back as soon as I was available.

It was very weird for me to get so many or any calls for the fact from my mom.

We haven’t spoken ever since I had chosen my career and left for good.

I knew I would regret this in the morning none the less I gave her a call.

“Where were you? I’ve been trying to contact you for the past TWO hours” She yelled as soon as she answered.

“Not that it’s any of your concern but I was out with my friends and I didn’t take my phone along with me.” I said rubbing my forehead, trying to ease the oncoming headache.

“We need you to came home, there is something important we need to talk to you about.” My mom said.

“It stopped being my home long ago mother dearest,” I crooned. It was very unusual for mom to call me so I was slightly worried,

“Is something of worry?” I questioned.

“No sweetheart just come home. It’s just that we really miss you.” She said.

Hold on a d@mn second. She missed me? She missed me? After basically pushing me to the streets. The Audacity. Controlling the urge to hang up on her.

“Uh-Yes And we have very important news for you dear, we think it would be best if you hear it personally than over a phone call.” She said.

I was intrigued. What made my mother come of her high horse and initiate this conversation? She had Ego rivaling her money. Which is saying a lot. Suspicious.

At the end of the call I hadn’t committed to anything. She never really cared about me, that much I knew by now. Like always, she just wanted something from me but I wonder what could be so important? The last time my parents called me over, it didn’t end too well.

“Who was that?” Mary asked leaning on my door way for balance.

“It was my mom, she wants me to come over.” I said still in shock.

“That’s weird, she never asks you to come over unless she wants something from you.” It might have seemed cold but it’s true. That’s just how my family works and it was not a secret.

“Anyways, good luck. I got a date tonight, don’t want to keep him waiting. I’ll be back soon.” She said giving me a wink before finally closing the door and leaving.

Looking out at the moody weather, I sighed. The day had gone downhill from the get go and I had an eerie feeling that this was just the tip of the iceberg.
