After the incident

Sniper sped down the street and joined the highway without looking back, he had been following his target for a while, waiting for the right time to strike; finally the perfect time presented itself but his target narrowly escaped .“D–n” he thought hitting his hand on the dashboard, he felt like shooting himself in the leg with the gun he was holding, how on earth could he miss such an easy target?
Still driving at full speed, he was thinking of the best way to explain his failure to his client when his phone rang, “talk of the devil” he muttered under his breath before answering the call, “Sniper speaking” he said, “is the target down?” the caller asked, “not yet” he replied to the caller’s disappointment, “what do you mean not yet?” the caller shouted, “this should’ve been our best bet” the caller grumbled, “it was supposed to look like an accident”,“I know” Sniper stammered, “it still baffles me how he was able to escape, I could’ve sworn I had him right where I wanted…” “Shut your mouth” the caller interrupted, “I should never have wasted my time with you in the first place.” ” I still plan to finish the job tonight” Sniper argued, “Forget about finishing any job, my contract with you has just been terminated.” the caller barked, “refund my money first thing tomorrow morning. I’ll get rid of the target by myself” the caller said hanging up the phone. “Poor guy!” Sniper thought to himself, “I wonder why my client wants him dead so bad”

Jeff opened his eyes to find himself lying flat on the ground by the roadside, surrounded by a crowd of people ,he could barely remember how he got there,his head was banging seriously. Are you okay sir?” One of the bystanders asked looking at him pitifully while he remained silent blinking his eyes like someone who had just woken from sleep; he felt like he was in a trance.
