CHAPTER 40
“Britt… Brittany… That’s not possible” Aidan breathed out.
“So the rumors,,, they were true” Valerie said, looking so shocked.
“What’s she doing here!! Police arrest her!!!” Hailey snapped but the police men didn’t even move.
“Are you deaf?!”
“I’m sorry ma’am but we can’t arrest her. She has been granted freedom under condition so technically she’s under our protection” Matteo who was just coming said and stood behind Brittany.
“You heard him right Hailey” Brittany smirked.
Hailey looked at the little boy holding Brittany’s hand.. So this is the boy, he’s right in front of her yet she can’t do anything..
Wait, if Brittany is in front of her.. What happened to Ivy and Vicky??
“Please, let’s start the ceremony” Brittany spoke and went to stand beside Nicholas.
“You came” Nicholas whispered.
“It’s my father we’re talking about..” Brittany looked at him and said
Alex just watched everyone innocently. This morning he caught Brittany crying in her room so Brittany had to explain everything to him.
Surprisingly, he took everything calmly. Well as they say ‘you can never miss what you never had’ maybe that’s why he took it calmly..
He begged Brittany to take him along. At least since he never met him at least, he can see him for one last time.
The ceremony began with the priest reading some verses in the bible and interpreting them while the others listened in silence.
Once he was through, it was time for everyone to say their last goodbyes. They all stood in a line as they walked front, dropping their roses on the glassy coffin which Oliver laid in.
“Bye dad… I’ll miss you so much, I’m sorry if I was never the perfect daughter you wanted me to be” Valerie wiped her tears and dropped her tears.
Hailey just looked at the coffin wiping her fake tears. Her mind went to that night..
He really fought till the end.
Valerie left with Hailey and then Savannah and Evan followed next. It went on and on till it got to Brittany and Alex.
Brittany stared at Oliver’s corpse while trying so much not to cry because if she cries Alex will cry too..
Alex stared too at Oliver’s corpse who was wearing white suit and had his eyes closed like he was sleeping.
He placed his tiny hands on the glassy coffin, still staring at him.
“Grandpa” He muttered.
Brittany swallowed the lump forming in her throat. She dropped her rose and left with Alex.
It went on till everyone present said their last goodbyes to him. They now stood aside as they watched his coffin being lowered six feet beneath the ground..
Some men came now to cover the hole.
“Brittany” A voice called her and she turned turned to see it was Aidan.
Nicholas was discussing with Kenneth and Zayne while looking at her with an eye.
“What?” Brittany asked coldly.
This was surely not the sweet and always smiling Brittany he knew back then..
“This boy,, is he our-”
Brittany laughed like he was saying some kind of jokes..
“Our? No..not at all darling. He’s my son, Alexander Rodriguez.” Brittany said and patted Alex’s hair.
“Alex meet Aidan,, a nobody” Brittany said to Alex who was looking at Aidan.
“Okay mom, I’ll be there” Alex pointed and left..
Brittany turned back to Aidan with a smug smile on her face.
“See? He feels no connection with you, nothing at all.. Thats just to show you that even if I tell him who you are he’ll still feel nothing at all. Beside why do you care so much to know, not like you ever loved me.. Go on, go to your precious Sandy before she starts thinking something odd is happening between us…” Brittany said and left.
Nicholas watched as Alex ran to him. He stood in front of him and began staring at him.
“You! You’re the boy that brought back mommy yesterday” Alex said boldly.
“Boy?” Nicholas said and chuckled.
Just the thought that this boy is his nephew feels so weird and strange to him..
“I’m not a boy… And yes, I’m the one” Nicholas replied.
“Why are you so tall! I wish I be your height when I grow up” Alex said..
“Okay” Nicholas replied.
“Alex, let’s go…” Brittany said, coming to them.
“Okay mommy.. Bye Mr,,,”
“Nick, call me Nick” Nicholas said.
“Bye Mr Nick!” Alex waved.
“Have a nice day boss” Brittany turned and began leaving with Alex.
“You have a lot yo explain to us Nick” Zayne said, looking surprised..
Brittany was leaving with Jessica and Alex when suddenly someone blocked her way. She folded her fists as she looked at Valerie and then at Hailey
“Just look at your condition Hailey, so sad.. Get well soon okay?” Brittany said and suddenly hugged her.
Hailey’s eyes widened when Brittany whispered something to her.
“I know you’re wondering what happened to those incompetent fools you sent to kíll me in jail… Don’t worry they went to a journey of no return. Take this as a warning Hailey,, if you dare touch a single strand of hair on my son… Consider yourself a goner because not only I’m I going to kll you with my own hands but I also have the phone with all your conversation recorded in it. That’ll be enough to end you in jail… Understood,,, mother?” Brittany whispered and broke the hug.
She smiled widely…
“Have a nice day…mother.” Brittany trailed the last word and left, not sparing a glance at Valerie.
Hailey’s eyes remained wide opened in shock..
“Mom… Mom!!” Valerie began tapping her back to reality..

“That was so cool!! You gave me goosebumps!! It was just like watching a movie!!” Jessica blabbered as they walked in the house.
“Ahh!! I love you so much Britt!! So lucky to have a sister like you!!” Jessica hugged her.
“Hey! I’m jealous!!” Alex pouted.
“Awwn come here… You’ll remain my favorite nephew!!” Jessica carried him and kssed his cheek. He smiled and began laughing hard when Jessica tickled him.
They both went in the kitchen..
“How was the burial ceremony” Gracie asked.
“It went well… Was so hard seeing him for a last time” Brittany sighed and fell on the couch.
“Sorry” Gracie said and sat beside her.
“It’s life, people come and go… But I’ll make sure dad didnt go for nothing” Brittany said.
“Whoever did this to him will pay, that’s a vow I’ve made to myself.. And if I found out Hailey did this,,” Brittany paused and clenched her fists.
“I’ll make sure I cripple her in such a way she’ll prefer jail or death than breathing the same air with me” Brittany said hatefully.
“What of Valerie..” Gracie asked.
“I don’t know… But if she interferes, I won’t mind dragging her along” Brittany said.

“Ahhhh!!!” Sandy screamed loudly as she pushed the vase and everything breakable, it crashed on the floor..
Xavier who was passing by Aidan’s room stopped.
“Once she’s through with her madness, ask her to refund everything she broke in my house” Xavier said and continued his way.
Aidan sighed and turned back to Sandy.
“Babe, calm down..” Aidan said and held her arm.
“Calm down?!” Sandy snapped and yanked his hand off her. A heavy sI.ap was what followed..
“How dare you!! How dare you tell me to calm down!!” Sandy yelled at him and ran her hands in her hair, fuming heavily.
“I’m not even angry that you fked her, it’s none of my business.. But did you have to impregnate her!!!” Sandy yelled and sI.apped him again.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know that-”
Sandy sI.apped him again.
“Know what? For fk sake!! You could have used protection… Now she has a fking son of you!! Tell me what are you gonna do huh?” Sandy yelled..
“What are you gonna do now? Take responsibility!! Marry her and throw me away again!!” Sandy yelled and sI.apped him..
“Must you be this stúpid!!!”
“I said I’m sorry!!!!!” Aidan snapped back…
He grabbed her arms tightly and pinned her harshly on the wall..
“How could I have known that she was pregnant!! Through a fortune cookie!!!” Aidan yelled.
“Let me go… You’re hurting me!!” Sandy winced.
“Why can’t you just understand me for once…”
“I said let me go!!” Sandy pushed him off.
She glared at him and then stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
Aidan crumpled down to the floor. He backed the wall and ran his hands through his hair.

“I’m so happy!! My role model is out!!” Savannah gushed..
“I’m still surprise…” Ashley said.
Kenneth nodded in agreement. He was sitting at the front seat with Zayne who was the driver while Ashley, Savannah and Ruby sat behind.
Nicholas left for an urgent meeting while Evan went back home..
Well it was Ashley who forced Savannah to come with them
“Not like there’s something special in her..” Ruby rolled her eyes.
“Bet you won’t even stand a chance beside her” Savannah said and Ruby glared at her.
Kenneth just watched them through the rear mirror.
“I just hope she comes back to modeling and take back her place. She belongs at the top” Savannah said.
“Bet she won’t beat Valerie” Ruby said..
“Yeah, the person who succeeded to be at the top only when my role model was sent to jail” Savannah rolled her eyes..
“Valerie is the best!” Ruby said .
“In your dream.. It’s Brittany!!” Savannah said.
“Stop it you two.. Gosh! Zayne when are you dropping me me and Annah at the mall” Ashley who was in between them said.

“Soon” Zayne replied and looked at Ruby through the rear mirror. She was busy staring out of the window with that frown on her face..

“I wonder how Connor is doing?” Savannah said to herself but a little bit loud to Kenneth’s hearing.
He frowned.

Nina sat down on the floor of her room in the dark as she watched the video Oliver made for the third time.
She cleaned her tears and sniffed in cutely. Oliver was like a father to her and now she’s all alone in this h’ll.
