“Mr Statham, should we take the underground?” Graham asked Nicklaus.
“Why?” He asked, his eyes focused on his phone.
“Reporters seems to be snooping around the scene” Graham replied.
Nicklaus stopped typing on his phone and looked through the window..
Reporters are blocking the company’s entrance, parading the place looking for ways to get any little piece of information.
Squinting his eyes, he could manage to see some police officers… examining the corpse laying on the ground.
“Those reporters will attack us if we…”
“Don’t worry about them,… Drive on!” Nicklaus said.
“Huh”
“Find a space in the parking lot and park the car!” He said.
Graham simply nod, he drove straight to a very wide space in the parking lot.
“Call the security department, tell them I’ve arrived”
“Copied!” Graham replied.
He parked the car in the space and call the chief security, he informed the security of Nicklaus’s arrival.
It didn’t take up to five minutes, about ten security men rushed towards Nicklaus’s car… Graham came out and opened the door for him.
Nicklaus stepped out, he adjusted his suit and wore his sunglasses.
“Welcome, Mr Statham” the security men greeted him.
He simply acknowledge their greetings with a nod and headed towards the policemen.
*Hey! That’s Mr Statham!* One of the reporters yelled.
Soon all the reporters started flocking towards him, but fortunately, the security men stopped them in time.
“Mr Statham, good morning…I’m chief constable Brain, I believe you know me…I was in charge of your wife’s rape case…”
Nicklaus glared at him when he mentioned the rape case, Brain seem to notice this…he cleared his throat.
“… we’re sorry we couldn’t find Mr Spears after he broke out” Brain apologized.
Nicklaus ignored him and walked towards the corpse, he stared at it…he recognized the face of this victim.
“What happened here?” Nicklaus asked as if he doesn’t know what’s going on.
“We got a call from your company that there’s been a murder….”
“Who called you?” Nicklaus interrupted him.
Brain shook his head.
“It’s an anonymous caller, but we rushed here right away and saw this”
Nicklaus nod thoughtfully, he seemed to understand this is someone trying to frame him.
“So…Mr Statham, you’re under arrest!” The officer said.
Nicklaus frowned at his statement. “I’m under arrest for what?”
“For the murder of Mr Liam Anderson Cooper!”
Nicklaus turned and stared at Liam’s limb body on the ground, he turned back to the officer and shook his head.
“I didn’t kill him.. in fact, I just arrived at the office now”
“I’m sorry, Mr Statham, but you have to come with us to the station for interrogation” the officer said.
Nicklaus stared at his wrist watch and drew his eyebrows together.. he looked towards the entrance as if he’s expecting someone.
“I’m afraid officer, I can’t come with you to the station” Nicklaus said.
“Mr Statham…”
“You can’t arrest me without any evidence!”
The officer turned to one of his boys, he brought out a knife stained with blood and gun… Nicklaus narrowed his eyes.
“This weapons found in your office..do you still wanna resist coming with us?”
Nicklaus pinched the bridge of his nose.
“You found them in my office doesn’t mean I put them there! You are a police officer, don’t you think there’s more to this?”
Brain frowned at Nicklaus’s words, he narrowed his eyes at Nicklaus but Nicklaus simply looked away from him.
“What do you mean there’s more to this?”
“Officer, someone is trying to frame me!”
Brain shook his head.
“Mr Statham, I don’t know about someone trying to frame you…you must come with us to the station!”
His words infuriated Nicklaus greatly and he wanted to throw a punch or two at him..but he remembered Marcus words.
*Don’t argue or fight with a police officer!*
He took deep breaths to calm himself down, he reached for his pocket and pulled out his phone..he dialed a number.
“You’re wasting our time, Mr Statham…”
Nicklaus cut him off with a glare, Brain gulped and take two steps away from Nicklaus.
“… please, respectfully come with us”
“Listen, I’m not leaving with you, I must speak with my lawyer first”
“This is a very serious crime, Mr Statham, your lawyer can come over to the station”
Nicklaus sighed and shoved his phone in his pocket, he was trying to call Marcus but it’s not connecting.
He exhaled. “Fine, let’s go.. I’m innocent after all”
Just when he was about to go with Brian towards the police car, they heard Marcus yelling.
“Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!”
They stopped and turned towards him, he stopped in front of them and catch his breath.
“Officer, where are you taking my client?”
“To the station for interrogation”
Marcus closed his eyes and shook his head. “No, no, no, no!”
Brain frowned.
“What evidence do you have to proof my client is the murderer?” Marcus asked.
Brain showed him the same knife and gun he had showed Nicklaus earlier.
“Just these? They don’t prove that my client is the murderer!”
“What do you mean barrister, these weapons were found in his office… ”
Brain trail off and reached for his phone, he opened it and showed Marcus and Nicklaus pictures of a pool of blood his boys found in Nicklaus’s office.
“…with this pictures, do you still wanna say your client is innocent?”
Marcus laughed, he turned to Nicklaus but Nicklaus simply glared at him.. he quickly turned back to the officer.
“You’re the detective here but it seems, you don’t know how to do your job.. now let me teach you your job!”
Marcus fold his hands behind him, he walked back to Liam’s corpse.. he stared at it.
“According to the evidence you have, this man was murdered in my client’s office.. which means his body should be hidden inside the office by now.. but as we can see it’s out here, what is it doing here instead?”
Brain stared at the body thoughtfully.
“Also, if my client is the murderer, why would he put the body of his victim in front of his company for everyone to see?”
Marcus paused and stared at Brain.
“I believe no one will be willing to get arrested for their crime, if he’s really the murderer he’d hide this body!”
Brain nod. “You’re right, barrister”
Marcus threw his arm around Nicklaus’s shoulders and winked at him.
“Sorry, I’m late, but I’ve got you, bro!”
Nicklaus elbowed his ribcage and he groaned quietly…
“You’re so unreliable sometimes.. you joke with everything!” He scolded Marcus.
Then turned to the officer, he tucked his hands in his pocket.
“Officer, what you need to do right now is an autopsy”
“An autopsy?”
Nicklaus nod.
“Yes, how are we sure Liam actually died by these weapons? What if he was already dead before he was stabbed with the knife?”
“That’s true, Mr Statham but.. we have to report back to the station, what should we say? Do you have an alibi to prove that you weren’t really at the office before our arrival?”
Marcus stepped forward.
“Yes! His wife is his alibi, he was with his wife since last night!”
Nicklaus glared at Marcus, but Marcus simply winked at him.
“Ok.. after the autopsy, we’ll need your cooperation in investigating this case.. I hope you’ll be willing to help us catch the real murderer?” Brain said, stretching his hand out.
Nicklaus stared at his hand a few minutes, before taking it in his.
“Of course, officer!”
They both withdraw their hands.
“We’ll be on our way now!” Brain said, he turned to his boys. “Bring the corpse back with us!”
Nicklaus turned a d started walking towards his office, while walking he can hear the reporters throwing questions at him.
*Mr Statham, is it really true that you murdered your worker?*
*We heard you’ve been having issues with this worker lately, is that true?*
*Or could this be a fight caused because of shares?*
Nicklaus stopped walking and turned, he threw a malicious glare at the reporter who asked that question.
“Nicky, ignore it, just ignore the question” Marcus said.
“Did you just heard the last question?!”
“Yes, I did.. just ignore it” he told him.
Nicklaus balled his fist tightly, Marcus noticed this.
“Em.. you can punch my shoulder to calm down” he said.
Nicklaus closed his eyes and took deep breaths.
“Don’t something to get rid of them!” He said and walked in.
Marcus turned towards the reporters, he adjusted his shirt and smiled.. he wave at them.
“I wanna say something important about this case, on behalf of Mr Statham!” He said.
The reporters quickly adjust their cameras, they started snapping pictures.. some started a Livestream.
“Well, what I have to say is.. if you don’t leave Statham enterprise now.. I’m afraid you’ll have to spend forty days and forty nights in prison!”
The reporters gasp, they started packing up their cameras and ran off one after the other.
Marcus sighed and smiled.
“It’s feel so good to be a barrister!” He said and walked in.

Marcus played with his fingers nervously and shift on his chair uncomfortably.. as Nicklaus is busy glaring daggers at him.
“N-nicky, can you stop giving me that look? You’re creeping me out”
Nicklaus banged on his desk and Marcus flinched.
“You said you’d be here before me.. why didn’t I see you when I got here?!”
Marcus chuckled.
“I was doing something very important with my girl, when I got the news.. I couldn’t leave halfway through”
Nicklaus narrowed his eyes.
“What was so important that you couldn’t leave?!”
“Em.. what did you and Anna do that got her pregnant?” Marcus asked him back.
Nicklaus shudder and made a disgusting face. “Gross!”
Marcus laughed when he saw Nicklaus blushing.
“Anyways, what do you think about the murder of Liam?” Nicklaus asked.
Marcus cleared his throat.
“Benjamin said there’s someone else, I think that person is striking now”
“You’re right, he wants to frame and put me behind bars, then get the company to himself.. right?”
“Bingo!”
Nicklaus scoffed.
“Well, let’s make him fall in his own trap” he said.
“How? What do you mean?”
Nicklaus leaned back on his chair, he wanted to speak but the door open and Graham walked in.
“Mr Statham, this is the security footage of someone entering your office” he said and dropped his phone in front of Nicklaus.
Nicklaus and Marcus watched the video, they only saw the man putting a knife and gun in Nicklaus’s drawer.
He poured something on the floor, all these while, they aren’t seeing his face.. it seems like he knows there’s a camera in the office.. and he’s typing to avoid it.
“Thank you, Graham.. you can leave now” Nicklaus said.
Graham nod and left. Marcus turned back to Nicklaus.
“That footage doesn’t have anything useful.. what plan do you have?”
“This man is a fox, he’s trickier than Benjamin.. so, I think I should fall in his trap” Nicklaus said.
“What do you mean?” Marcus asked, a little bit confused.
“We’ll make him feel like he’s won, we should use almost the same method we used on Benjamin.. but we should upgrade it”
Marcus nod. “If that’s the case, we should use Anna as a bait”
Nicklaus banged on the table.
“How dare you?!”
“Calm down and listen to me, my love, I think this person was also involved in your father’s death… If he sees Anna he might recognize her and do something reckless.. then we can catch him”
“Hmm…”
“Trust me, no one will stay calm seeing their nemesis standing in front of them”
Nicklaus think about it briefly, hr shook his head.
“No! Anastasia is pregnant, I can’t risk using her as the bait!”
“But she’s our only hope”
“No! I’ll talk about it with my father-in-law, he might have a better plan”
Nicklaus left no room for arguments, Marcus simply nod.
“So… were you planning on going to the station with officer Brain? Why didn’t you argue with them?”
Nicklaus glared at him for asking that question.
“You said I shouldn’t argue with any officer, you’re the lawyer and you’re supposed to be correct..I guess I took your words too seriously… I should have punched him”
Marcus laughed. “On a second thought, it’s good you didn’t argue with him”
